Customer Reviews

The images I get with this lens are great, the only difference I notice with this vs ... I bought this lens for indoor shoots when I don't have the room to get the shot I want with my 50mm. This is significantly cheaper than the Canon version which made it more attractive. The images I get with this lens are great, the only difference I notice with this vs my Canon lenses is that the focusing is slightly slower and a lot louder. Otherwise, great buy! 4Seems just as good as a 1st party lens I purchased this lens as a birthday present for my girlfriend along with her new DSLR. So far, it has worked great, takes nice pictures and she loves it. Great first lens to learn the ins and outs of photography. 5Good value, sharp lens Great little lens despite what others post. I do not hesitate to use this lens professionally at anytime a 35mm is called for. Sharp from the center at wide open by /4 to the edges. Work flawlessly with my Nikon D750. Focusing slower that the Nikon 50mm G but then that does not really matter on a 35mm and there is so much depth of field anyway. I use the Nikon AF 35mm 1.8 G corrections in Lightroom and the images clean up nicely. Lightroom has no settings for Yongnuo lenses. Good buy. 5Great Lens for Under $100 Great lens for the price! I've been researching 35mm lenses for my D750 for a while, and decided to give this one a try since it was under $100. I'm very happy with the results! Shooting at about F7.1 produces sharp images.Pros:Very sharp at small F stops.Very affordable.Auto focus. Can open wide for low light.Works great with full frame camera's.Cons:Blur is not very appealing wide open when focusing up close.Auto focus is a little noisy.I've included a photo I took with this lens and my D750 while in San Diego. 5Great image quality, better than expected build quality, fantastic value. The 5 stars are conditional: they account for the remarkably low price of the item. This lens is an amazing bargain. I was expecting a much cheaper build quality for this price, and I knew what to expect in terms of optical quality. Plenty sharp in the center from wide open, edges and corners sharpen up quickly as you stop down. There is no automatic manual focus override, but the AF/MF switch is a nice touch. Build quality really does feel close to on par with the Nikon 85mm 1.8 G lens. I got this as a gift for my father, who shoots a Nikon D610 and D7000, and lately this lens has been living on his 610. He loves the 35mm focal length, and this is a much smaller, lighter package than his 17-35 2.8 or 24-70 2.8 The additional speed is nice as well given the lack of stabilization. 5Focusing Issues The lens has some really strange focusing issues. It will on its own go out of focus. It doesn't keep focus after you release the shutter. There are also times when the focus mechanism just wont work and you have to take the lens off the camera and put it back on. When you do get an in focus shot, the image quality inst bad though. I ended up returning because of the focusing issue. 2Solid cheap lens Pros:Faster confident focus than previous modelsquieter focussmooth zoom ringseems to be a fairly solid buildno noticeable aberrations or lens flaresharp focus After reading a lot of reviews I decided to go ahead and order this lens while also trying to get the newest version of this lens I could. It seems to have gone through a couple updates. For 90 dollars you really can't go wrong. My lens on my D3300 had no issues focusing quickly and accurately. It even seemed quieter than previous models. I haven't had a chance to take it out on a trip to put it through it's paces completely but have had it for a few days. It doesn't have any noticeable lens flare or horrific aberrations. I haven't been able to take a close look for focus between center and corners but seems to be just fine. It even has the same cap size as my nikon 50mm 1.8G so it's a simple convenience. 5This is the cheap 35 to learn on *For the cost* (very important), this lens does everything you'd need a cheap, quick 35 f/2 to do. It's build quality and feel are surprisingly nice. The focus ring is satisfyingly tactile - smooth and large enough for my fingers to grasp easily and well, unlike my nikkor D lenses. It's not the widest aperture for a 35, but for less than 100 dollars, you get functionality and value. We use this lens to film vlogs indoors with inexpensive studio lighting and it works well enough for our needs. It is soft at f2 well into the edges and is difficult to nail focus with. The AF is quite slow, but seems accurate enough.I intend to try this lens for astrophotography, but do not have high hopes due to that lack of sharpness at f2, but I'll remain open minded until I test that out. Stopped down to f/2.8 though, clarity and sharpness improve considerably. We shoot our indoor vlogs at f3.2 for that extra depth of field, but wouldn't have an issue going down to 2.8 if needed and the improved sharpness is nice at 3.2. I included two files - one full size image of a tree section unedited at f/2 (1/4000th of a second to rule out motion blur) and a cropped in version of that file to show poor sharpness right in the center of the image. The lens is a nice size. Slightly bigger than my nikkor 50mm, but smaller than my Rokinon 85mm. It works well with my Nikon D500 and when focus is on where you need it, images do look good. It also focuses close enough for near-macro photography, so that's nice.compared to other more expensive 35s out there, this is crap, but those lenses are hundreds and hundreds of dollars more in cost. That's why I give this a 4/5. It's a great lens to get the feel of a 35mm lens under your belt, but I would not recommend for pro use at all.+Good buildGood ValueClose Focus-Slow AFNot sharp at f/2 4Good lens with little issues. This a lens that offers you exactly what you paid for. During day time the lens works perfectly without any issues. The device autofocus very quickly. At night time the story is other. The lens fails to autofocus in low light situations. You have to go on manual mode when this happens. The only issue I noticed is that after taking several pictures the camera displays "lens not attached". I don't know if it is because of usage or some compability issue which it resolves by switching off and on the camera body. I use it on a Nikon D3400. 4The photos were beautiful and I'm so happy with it The day this lens arrived, I shot a wedding with it and then a boudoir session. The photos were beautiful and I'm so happy with it. If you're a Nikon user, and don't have a lot to spend on lenses, buy these! You won't be sorry at all!! 5
