    Works As Advertised I gave it 5 stars for picture quality but it has no glass, so it has no effect on your lens's. It is partly made of plastic as other reviewers have noted, but it seems to be a strong plastic that should do the job just fine. I had my I had my Canon EF 100-400mm on them and they seem strong enough. The mounting plates look to be a quality metal. I can verify it does retain F-Stop and Auto Focus. The depth of field is very drastic so the auto focus sometimes passes back and forth past the in focus point, seeming unable to find it. Stopping down reduces the depth of field effect and then the auto focus performs better (this depends on the lens and focal length). The photo is at 100mm at F10 using my Canon EF 100-400mm lens.Fast delivery from Ritz Camera.I am quite satisfied with these, and for the price, they are a very good deal. Highly Recommended... 5The best results I had were with a Nikkor AF-S 50mm ... I would probably give these 3.5 stars if I could. They definitely work. Your results will be mixed. There are a few focal length calculators on the net that could help you get an idea of the results you'll receive with different lenses. The best results I had were with a Nikkor AF-S 50mm 1.8G. The lens autofocuses fine. The working focus distance is extremely reduced but if you are buying these then you probably know that. The build quality is decent enough. I found the f-mount male portion to be precise. The female f-mount was tight on metal mount lens bases with the dust gasket. Plastic lens mounts were fine. The metal mount of the extension tube uses small leaf springs. If you loosen the screws on the mount a quarter turn it is much easier to mount and still seems secure. The tubes are mostly plastic but the mounting faces are metal. Bottom line is that they work with a few quibbles. The image quality produced was very good since there is no extra glass in these. I had good luck with autofocus working fine and metering also working fine. This means they should work for any Nikon D3xxx or D5xxx series dslr. If you have the 50mm G lens this is a good option for occasional close up work but do expect to play around a bit before you get the results you want. 3Up close and personal for a quarter of the price. For the novice: Extension tubes allow the photographer to get closer to their subject than normally possible with the lens alone and magnify the tiniest of objects for macro photography.Do you need this set over the $10 version?- NO, if you are content with manual focus AND have a lens with an aperture ring.- YES, if you need autofocus. Otherwise you'll have manual focus only.- YES, if you have a lens without a designated aperture ring and need aperture control. Otherwise you'll be stuck at the smallest aperture (narrowest), typically f/22 - f/32!Until recently, if you didn't have an aperture ring on your lens or needed autofocus, your only choice was to fork out a couple hundred dollars for extension tubes.For a quarter of the price, these tubes are an extraordinary deal.- For newer lenses like those with autofocus motors and no aperture ring, this set has the metal contacts necessary to send digital info back and forth from the lens to the camera, communicating focal distances, light metering and controlling mechanisms like autofocus motors and aperture settings on the lens. The cheaper sets do not have these metal contacts and leave DSLRs quite impotent.- For older lenses, this set has a mechanical aperture control slider and screw drives to control autofocus (for camera bodies with built-in motors but motorless lenses).The build quality is more than fair for the price. Although it has a cheap plastic hollowness to it, as opposed to the $10 aluminum sets, there is no flexing even with long lenses and no light leakage. All mechanisms are metal. The camera mounts are plastic, although they do have metal ring lens mounts (more for aesthetics than sturdiness). The thumb tabs are far easier to manipulate than the tiny knobs on other sets.Some observations:- With all three pieces, there is about a 2 stop loss of light.- Sometimes they are a bit stiff and need to be thoroughly rotated until a "click" is heard.- There may be a little bit of rotational play if you're not careful and rotate your lens too aggressively, you may dislodge the tubes.Save yourself some money and go have fun with your macro hobby! 5Four Stars Simple, decent quality.There are many comments about the mounting being unusually difficult, but I have no difficulty if I take time.Lens selection may be the cause of some user's difficulty in that the wider prime lenses will be very close to the subject ( within an inch and a half on my DX body w 35mm F 1.8G and the 8mm tube ) that can make setup difficult .ANY lens will focus from a closer distance,but I suspect 80 - 100mm lens with a wide aperture is near the sweet spot - you can get good,close in shots without being physically too close to a subject . Better working distance. If you insist on using autofocus be aware that single point works better; manual focus works best because the depth of field (sharpness front to back) is so short.Manual focus lets you select focus better than auto when shooting macro .Likewise, if your lens and camera body isn't parallel to the subject , your focus will trail off quickly due to the depth of field. A tripod works best even on a fast lens because you will want to stop down to increase depth of field,and that will increase exposure time.Macro is not a quick ,snapshot style process. It requires some setup thought . I like using it. 4best add on you can get, photos of results are included This auto extension tube are amazing, they are great and fill durable. I've been getting great, detailed photos. Here's a photo so you can see the kind of detail you can achieve. This is a photo taken with my 55-200 with a speed light flash. I would recommend this to everyone 5Extremely Pleased With This Product! I am extremely pleased with my purchase of these extension tubes. I specifically wanted ones that would allow my camera to talk to my lenses, and these do that perfectly. They also allow the VR function to work, which really helps hand-held shots. They lock on tight (a little tighter than the lens itself) and seem to have no issues supporting the weight of my larger lenses (like the Nikor 70-300mm VR). They look great on the camera, and although are a little tougher to disengage than a lens, I haven't had any locking/sticking issues.I tested them out on my old 18-55mm VR and 55-200mm VR first just in case there were any issues. They worked well, so I moved onto my larger aforementioned zoom, and my 50mm prime. I am absolutely thrilled so far with the images I have taken! I have only hand-held in natural light so far, but I am pleased with the results. My next purchase will be a ring flash.Attached are some examples I have taken over the past few days. The camera is a Nikon D5100, and the lenses used are the 70-300mm VR and the older manual 50mm 1.8. (I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of my new D7200 which should be even better for macro work) 5Very well made well priced I bought these extension tubes because I wanted something more mobile than my bellows for macro photography. I already own a bellows which I use with a 135mm lens for taking pictures of things that sit still. These were preferable over macro converters (which go in front of the lens) because this introduces no additional low quality glass in front of your lens. They're simply hollow tubes.I tried this set of extension tubes out with my Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 which is a very big heavy lens. The extension tubes seem very solid and well built, there's absolutely no flex with my 70-200 on them with all 3 tubes. One note I want to make about using these with a zoom: set the zoom lens to infinity focus, then adjust the focus on the subject by adjusting the focal length on the zoom lens.It looks like the inside of the tubes is made of metal with plastic on top of it; they're quite substantial feeling (and weigh more than I would expect if only the mounts were metal). These tubes have great features like a lens release button, and electronic contacts. I can't emphasize enough how much I like these tubes. At $55 they're a real steal and are just as nice as any of the more expensive ones out there. 5I am so glad I did Given some of the feedback concerning faulty connections and tightness I was a bit concerned when buying these for my Nikon d3400 but really wanted the connections between the camera and the lens to be maintained when using the extensions so went for it. I am so glad I did! The set that I received worked perfectly out of the box and connected and disconnected with my camera with no problems at all (felt as tight as my kit lens). They are really a great way to get into macro photography without buying an expensive lens. I am fairly new to DSLRs so I am still learning how to best use my camera but I have gotten some decent pictures with the extensions. I do notice that in "Auto" mode the light metering is not great and in any mode my autofocus often hunts for a long time and never finds the focal plane. I have found switching to a single point autofocus (which you should do in macro anyways) helps sometimes but the best option is to go manual focus at the least and full manual for the best pictures. Overall I am pleased with my purchase and very happy with the quality of the tube set. 5WOW! Great stuff! I once had a Super macro Fuji Film Digital camera that took amazing macro photos. Since then I upgraded to a t3i and couldn't afford a good macro lens yet, so I bought these instead just to see how good they work and I am very pleased! With my 18-55mm lens I can use the 13mm adapter and it works very well, once I get into the larger ones the focus distance becomes too close and It is virtually useless (CAN FOCUS ON ITS OWN LENS!! CAN SEE THE DUST ON THE LENS IN EXCELENT DETAIL AHAHA)... At first this confused and frustrated me... I slept good that night and woke extra early with the idea to try my 75-300mm lens with these, and what a great morning of macro photography it was. I can use any of the adapters or all three combined and it brings the focus distance so much closer. I can get macro shots of objects 20 feet away! or super macro of objects within a foot to 5 feet away... Truly awesome stuff I am getting. It has blown my mind and brought back the love for macro I once had... Also, I was able to use my 10x filter with them for added zoom, some times a little too much zoom, but that shouldn't be an issue. these extension tubes work flawlessly and havnt had a single issue yet. Great buy! 5Great Photos, Bad Quality Product I will be the first to admit that I love the photos I get with these extension tubes. But the ones I got are bad quality and a pain to use, and make me worried about wear on my camera.I bought these to get super close up with the dedicated macro lens I already have. In that regard, they do absolutely everything I wanted. I can indeed get even closer than 1:1 magnification with these, and the image quality does not suffer because there are no optics.I have read many reviews that said these have a sturdy construction, so I was not really worried about buying them. I guess they have variable quality control, because the ones I got were bad. They have a loose fit and don't lock into place, so they move back and forth. When manually focusing I sometimes knock them slightly, causing the contacts to stop touching. In that case I no longer have aperture control and I end up with crazy exposure. I've lost some shots this way. I'm also worried about wear on the camera and lens from the contacts rubbing.As much as I enjoy the photos I have gotten with this, I would never recommend this to a friend. Get some extension tubes, but not these ones. 3
