    Installed and plugged in 1 Leviton 16450-D and 1 Leviton 16450-4 keypads and all worked great!Bought 2 of these to replace Leviton 16400 base units. This company sent out a replacement at my request, but, it did not work out of the box. Sent the two non-working units back to company and they issued a refund for the one purchased unit. So, at this point I am not impressed with the X10 XPT product, but, Texas Home Automation has been GREAT at trying to remedy this situation. BTW, these are the A version units. I would now rate this item three stars (product 1, company 5). 5Still available.Goes together with the keypad and works like the original which died years ago. Glad to find it still available. 5Four Starsgood 4Went Dead After Only a Few Days of UseI bought this to replace a Lutron-brand base that went dead after decades of service. This X-10 brand replacement base went dead after only a few days of use. I am sending back and am ordering another and purchasing a 2-year warranty. I hope that the new one works like the Lutron original.I will update my review with the results. 2New one works perfect and betterFixed my problem. My old one burned out after only 30 years, only! It worked OK for about 6 months, then just stopped working. Okay, my problem, it's out of warranty. So I order another one (the one tied to this review, in fact). It lasted two weeks and died. To make matters worse, X-10 refused to help and directed me back to the seller (because they had not themselves sold it - not good P.R.), who required me to provide two e-mails full of how I had tested it to prove that it was the transmitter (I won't list all of the tests, but suffice it to say that I set my gym transmitter to the bedroom code and, using the keypad from the bedroom, it was able to control the bedroom lights - that should have been enough to indicate that the unit was defective).The seller did eventually send me a replacement, and it is working fine (proving, of course, that the previous unit was indeed defective). So as of right now, a 50% defect rate...and that's assuming that the replacement of the replacement continues working.One other note, which is not a mark against the transmitter itself: If you look closely at the picture in the product page, you'll note that the wires have been cut and the insulation pushed back slightly to expose the wire underneath. This is how many electrical devices are sold. Well, the first "replacement" had just bare wires, and they were frayed stranded, not soldered together like the replacement replacement. That does make one wonder if it had already been returned...but to the seller? To X-10? Somewhere in the food chain, somebody apparently substituted a used unit for a new one.* Although I *HATE* the keypad, it works fine but it is so ugly and out-of-place, X-10 why won't you make a single-switch keypad option that looks like a regular toggle (or even better, Decora) light switch? Since this review is for the transmitter and not the keypad faceplate that is [generally] sold separately, my opinion of the keypad's aesthetics are not part of my star rating.Edit: now my replacement of my replacement of my replacement has died. They must be frying from a nearby inducted current, but the only thing I've changed is I installed an in-wall USB charger; would that be enough to fry a mighty X-10? Meanwhile, I've discovered "Enocean" technology (wireless, no batteries, tiny, silent, and works on a tiny burst of electricity generated when you press the switch - how cool is that?) and although they can get pricey, they start at about the same price as X-10. If you don't need to power an air conditioner - that's where X-10 still has the advantage - take a look. 3
