Customer Reviews

Great little router plane. Without even touching up the blade it works fine right out of the box. Large knurled knob tightens the blade to depth however you'll want a screw driver to tighten it a touch. This router plane is for small spaces not heavy plowing work. I got it for hinge mortises and it does a great job. 5The base is pretty small and requires force and concentration to keep the ... I bought it to trim and fit tenons to mortises and it works ok for that purpose. Something to consider: the adjustment is completely manual - as soon as you loosen the screw you lose your height setting. The base is pretty small and requires force and concentration to keep the cutter level. The blade is 1/4" wide. It is very easy to sharpen the blade. All-in-all a very good value for small work. 4Solid plane for the money Overall it is nice solid little plane. It is excellent value for the money. I found the plane blade a little less than the very best. If you are an occasional user this should meet your needs very nicely. A professional user might want to spend 4 times the money to go into the next class of planes. Overall, I found this to be a very solid little plane 4I recommend this tool This "little" plane it sturdy and sharp. The construction is solid but the plane is very small compared to what I was expecting. I have no doubt that the size was explained in the description but I never noticed it. I was looking for the much larger model with the appropriately sized chisel made for standard dado grooves of the 3/4 inch range.I didn't send it back due to the fact that I WILL eventually need it for dados in the 3/8" range or for rabbits. The chisel is quite sharp and as I said, the construction is such that the tool will last indefinitely.I recommend this tool but now I need to find the adult model................ 5Can t do anything the average woodworker couldn t do with a chisel or router I bought this for one specific cross joint I was doing for a project. It s OK it probably can t do anything you couldn t do with a chisel or router 3But does the trick just fine. I have a vintage Stanley 71 A fraction of the cost of the mini router planes made by LV and LN. But does the trick just fine. I have a vintage Stanley 71, but pull this baby out when I need to work something smaller. A little finicky to set, but I have the cutter nice and sharp and the sole nice and flat and I'll bet it does the job as well as the $$$ models. 4A decent router plane. Could be better This router plane isn't too bad. It gets the job done pretty well. It required some sharpening and flattening like most planes. I believe it was mentioned by another reviewer that you can get a high quality plane for just a little more cost and that checked out. This plane is okay but the higher quality plane you can get for a few more dollars has better adjustment features and a better blade. My blade ended up being square so that didnt end up being a problem for me.Dimensions of the plane can be seen in the photos I attached.Pros:*Cheap*Gets the job doneCons:*For just a few more dollars you can get a much more full featured tool from a reputable company (-1 star)*Cannot get fast and accurate depth measurements (-1/2 a star)Additional Considerations:I don't think this is a bad product. But I would go for the higher quality tool for a few more dollars. You will be happier in the long run.Overall: 3.5/5 stars (>=.5 rounds up, <.5 rounds down) => 4 starsIf you have any further questions regarding the product in my review please leave a comment below and I will get back to you as soon as possible. 4Not a bad little plane. This router plane has worked well for me. I have found the blade to be square and also well centered between the sides. Mine looks slightly different than the one shown in the photo. My plane has squared-off sides while the one in the photo has rounded sides. Due to the squared-off sides, I can let the plane ride along a fence. I ordered it under the same model number as the one shown, so I don't know why they are different. The only shortcoming with this plane for me is that the depth setting is kind of trial and error. 4Crummy blade, cheaply made As other reviewers have pointed out, the blade isn't square to the body of the plane. That's not really a problem working freehand, since you can just skew the plane a little to adjust the angle of attack. It looks cheap, but shouldn't really hurt anything. The problem, though, is the blade itself. When I received this, the blade had a chipped corner, and the leading edge of the blade isn't square to the sides. Either the blade is made of steel that's too soft, or it wasn't manufactured and handled carefully - probably both. I'm returning this and buying the Veritas equivalent instead. It's only about five bucks more, and certain to be much higher quality. 2but does a good job. When I got it It is very small, but does a good job. When I got it, I had some old test strips. I took the Router Plane out of the box, and set the depth I needed. It cleaned up the bottom of the grove, and made my junk wood look like I was going to use it..It works good, even being small... 5
