    Looks good and works great This is a very good Bedrock copy and it will do everything it is supposed to 5As good as Bedrock model I have been searching for a good used Bedrock 603 for some time. Most of the ones that I would consider usable are over $175.00, which for me as a hobby tool is more than I can justify. However being appreciative of quality I can't justify buying an inferior tool no matter how cheap. The WoodRiver #3 version 3 is greatly improved. I understand there was a tussle with Lie Nielsen (who makes a wonderful product) planes so they had to revamp this model. The upgrades in the frog assembly make it much more robust than the earlier model. I own several planes and this one is as good as my favorite Bedrocks. It is easy to adjust and cuts ribbon thin when set-up properly.It is not ready to use out of the box as the blade is not honed and the unit was very oily. After a quick clean-up and a polish on the blade, it adjusted quickly and has been a very sweet plane. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the stainless steel lever cap doesn't give me that firm "click" into place when I puch the cap lever down. The grinding and shape of the cam part of the lever is not as polished and smooth as the rest of the unit. It works fine but could benefit from better quality control in this one area. The wood handles are nice and the bottom of the plane is dead flat. The large brass adjusting screw makes it easy to move the blade in and out.This is a great value and something that can be passed on for generations. 4Took a bit too much work to get it working for the price As purchased, the throat of this plane was too narrow to allow clearance for a shaving to pass through. In order to produce any shavings or do anything except chatter across the top of a board, I had to take a mill file to the throat and widen it by a fraction of a millimeter. Once modified in this fashion, the plane works reasonably well, and produces thin shavings. However, while I accept that it is normal to have to do some adjustment of a new plane to get it working in tip top shape, for a $130 plane, I don't think having to do that kind of work to get it to function at all is acceptable. I personally will be very leary of buying another Woodriver plane. 2Good Bedrock type plane Bought the no. 3 size of this plane. Was delivered three days after placing my order. Not perfect out of the box. Had to to some honing on both the back of the cutter to remove grinding marks and the bevel edge to complete sharpening. The frog of the plane had been installed crooked at the factory but that was a simple fix with the Bedrock type frog. Otherwise fit and finish of the plane body and the wood parts is very good. Once initial fettling was done by me, the plane performs very well. Considering the higher prices being charged for vintage no. 3 Stanley planes, I'd say this is a good buy but be prepared to do a little tuning work before using. 4Love this I can get 1/2 thousandth shear shaving.. Love this plane 5Solid! This plane is outstanding. Although all of my hand plane experience has been with much much cheaper Stanley planes. Which I found not fun,enjoyable, painful at times. I find my self reaching for this plain faster than a sander most of the time. The only plain I use more is my lea Nelson block 5
