Customer Reviews

Just what i needed. Just what you need to thread the coax thru a fire wall or a door panel. And the quality of mine is great. Mounted in a 2014 Silverado Z71. Any excess coax can be zip tied to frame or under the hood. Pro Truckers, I don't think you'll have to much excess, and heavy enough to handle my 250 box, with Galaxy 979f radio. 5Second one works like a charm. The original one was giving very high SWRs but the second one works great. As always, no hassle exchange through Amazon. Channels 1 and 40 have about a ~1.3 SWR while channel 20 has a ~1.0. Weather channel comes in clearer as well. This is hooked up with a Firestik II, a 90 degree connector at the transmittor end, and a Cobra 29 LX. The FME connector made this about a 20 minute wire run (including running through firewall grommet and replacing all the zipties). Almost too easy. The weather boot is a nice touch as well, the wire itself is tough and thick, no cuts when running through panels. 5Easy install but it ended up being DOA. Update: While I liked the ease of install with the smaller end this cable ended up being DOA. I spent hours troubleshooting and trying to tune my CB only to figure out this cable was DOA.Perfect for installing under carpet and behind panels since the one end is smaller until you need to hook it up. 1Loose crimping resulted in lost parts the smaller/removable end was not crimped well, so when running it through spaces, it fell apart. A quick trip to Fry's and I replaced the parts. Other than that, it is working well. 3Nice quality and easy to route. Nice quality cable that allowed me to drill just a small hole thru the body of my wrangler, only thing is, I wish a rubber grommet was included, I went to the hardware store and bought a grommet which made for a nice clean leakproof install. Cable has plenty of length to get up to the front of the Jeep wrangler. I bought an antenna mounting bracket that bolts behind the drivers side tail light but had to add a couple large self tapping screws as the tail light bolts just didn't seem to be enough. Here's a tip: Mount your antenna on the drivers side of your vehicle as the passenger side is the side thats closest to the bushes and branches, the antenna will take a lot less beating being mounted on the drivers side of the vehicle. 5Test before you install Others have mentioned soldering\quality issues. Definitely test the cable before you install it, the first one I got, I spent 90 minutes or so routing it through my jeep only to find that it didn't work. The replacement didn't work either, but at least I tested it beforehand. 1A Well-Made CB Cable Not bad. Not bad at all. I am using this in a 2003 Jeep Wrangler TJ. I may get one for my 2013 JK. Clear, clean signal, once the antenna is tuned. The PL-259 connectors are what you need for CB, and the FME feature of the one end really helped me in that the hole I had to cut through my tub was much smaller. This cable, because of the FME, is much easier to route in through the vehicle than what you normally see. 5Minor Quality Issue The cable is well designed and built of good materials. The removable PL-259 made the installation a breeze. The only issue I had was a poor solder connection on the PL-259 center conductor. There was solder on the outside of the weather boot end Pl-259 center pin. It wouold have been a poor fit and not what I expected from a higher quality cable. It was easy to carefully remove the excess solder with a very fine file. I was unable to find a way to notify the supplier that they need to check stock and address it with Wilson. Hopefully they will see this post. Delivery was excellent by the way. Best Service Stores delivered fast. In their defense there is no way they would have noticed the solder issue. I consider them a top notch vendor for price and delivery. I just wish I could notify them without going thru Amazons filters and categories. None of the selections were "helpful feedback" from a happy customer. All the other choices would not have been fair so all I have is this post..........UPDATED 11/14/15 - Important install note: The cable survived the sun, mud rain and snow for over 2 years but then failed due to my install method. Use caution if your antenna is on the door and you need a cable that will flex with the hinge action. I ran my coax thru the factory gate wire chase which holds it to a very limited space. It eventually broke in half with the constant opening and closing of the gate. This is a very well made cable but bear in mind the specs and construction of a high freq coax is not the same as every other 12V auto wire. I am happy with the cable quality and replaced it with another wilson 305-830 but this time I added a large loop to limit the flexing. If i have any other trouble I will post here. 5Terrible quality. Run away. Absolutely terrible construction. This is the 4th Wilson coax with fme connectors that I have had this happen to me. It always happens where the fme connector is soldered onto the coax. The coax in the picture is exactly 1 week old. I was getting reports that my transmission was very staticky and broken. When I pulled the cb out of the cubby, the coax just came apart. There was no binding or shock vibrations. ust very poor soldering Never again will I buy this type of coax from Wilson, and I would strongly recommend anybody that cares about a product lasting more than a day to a week to continue scrolling to other products. 1I especially like the smaller end for fishing through tighter environments This antenna cable is top notch. It's very well constructed and seriously flexible. I need flexibility in my application in our 2015 Jeep JKUR. I'd buy this cable again in a heartbeat. I especially like the smaller end for fishing through tighter environments. Very nice.SR 5
