Customer Reviews

Nice strong, effective, simple design I've used versions of this showerhead for the last 20 years and all have saved lots of water while still giving a great shower. With care you can expect to use this showerhead for at least 7 to 10 years, that has been my experience. This model reduces water usage even more while somehow giving a full force shower. Even thought the flow rate is down to 1.5 GPM, I still seem to rinse off just as fast as with any other 2.5 GPM showerhead. This showerhead isn't noisy like some such as the Oxygenics. It looks very compact and elegant in your showerstall as well as not taking up much space. It is very well made and a super bargain at the price I paid. I have bought these at big box hardware stores in the past but they seem to have all stopped carrying them in favor of more expensive items made in China (that is communist China the last time I checked). I applaud Amazon for still carrying them. These are a well made, inexpensive item that works very well, saves lots of precious water and is made in the USA. What's not to love. I'm buying more of these just to give to people to show them that they can easily live more green and still find quality, inexpensive USA made products. Thanks Whedon. 5Does what it claims I bought this shower head and a few others to test for use to save water. I actually did a scientific review by installing each shower head in turn and running them on a standard shower run collecting everything in a 5 gallon bucket held under the shower head for 2 minutes. I then compared the shower heads and measured how much water they actually put out in the 2 minutes. This shower head does what it claims. It put out actually a little less than 1.5 gpm and had a fair force to it. It did not aerate that much, so you can turn down the temp too saving more money by saving some hot water. Because the force is not that strong, it takes a little longer to wash off, and I wouldn't recommend it for someone with a lot of hair. Overall, it does what it claims. 4Tiny water heater - Finally a hot shower that lasts more than 5 minutes The water heater at my apartment is small. And when I say small, I mean small. When I took a shower, the hot water would last probably only about 5 minutes, but if I was lucky, and it wasn't cold outside, I could stretch it to maybe about 8 - 10 minutes if I turned off the water to lather up and such. Even then, I never made it through a full shower without having to finish in the cold. Needless to say, it was a real pain in the butt, and I couldn't enjoy my showers at all. They were just a race to get clean before I got frozen out of the shower by cold water. After researching solutions to the problem, I found that a low pressure showerhead would be my best option. The Ultra Saver Showerhead 1.5 GPM was recommended in an article I read, and it was super cheap, so I decided to give it a try.My first shower after installing the showerhead was more than I had every hoped for out of my teacup sized water heater. I was actually trying to run the hot water out to see how long I would have before I was blasted with cold, but the hot water never ended. 30 mins into it, completely showered at my leisure and without having to freeze to death, the water was still piping hot. Amazing! Brilliant! No more ice cold showers. No more rushing around or having to shave with cold water. I'm overjoyed. I couldn't have asked for anything better.Features I absolutely adore:- Greatly extends the time it takes to run out of hot water- Has a flow disruption button to reduce the flow of water when I don't need it running at full speed (which extends the hot water even more!)- Easy to install (except one small thing. see below)Features that are tolerable, but could be better:- The water pressure is definitely lower, so it takes longer to rinse off and to get the shampoo and especially conditioner out of my hair. This makes my showers take a little longer than normal, but it's fully worth it in my opinion.- Note to those with lots of hair: My hair is relatively thin, but if you have long, really thick hair, you might need something with a little more pressure.- The rubber washer included with the showerhead for installation was too thick, so the showerhead wouldn't screw onto the pipe. After trimming the washer with scissors, though, it went on just fine. No leaks or anything that I can see, so far. 5Yay! Hot showers for everyone! The previous showerhead in my older house would dump water by the bucket, so the water heater would only allow one shower at a time before needing to reheat. After switching to this, two to three showers can be taken back-to-back without anyone running out of hot water. The pressure and coverage is quite satisfactory, such that if you don't use another shower, you don't notice this being different. I have noticed that going to family's house or some hotels where they have more flow, that this is definitely a low flow head, but since it works well, and I can rinse my long hair, shave, and still have a hot shower, it's totally worth it. And of course, there are the water and heating bill savings, but I haven't calculated out the actual savings. 5Cuts your water and heating bill and provides a great shower I've used these shower heads for years in their 2.5 and 2.0 gpm incarnations and have always enjoyed the type of shower they produce: a focused spray with a pleasant level of force. And they're very durable, being solid brass plated with chrome. This is the first time I've used one that outputs only 1.5 gpm, so I was curious to see if it changed the experience and worked as well for rinsing. I'm pleased to say that this low-flow head produces a strong flow that is both comfortable and works well for rinsing. The pause valve also works well, but I don't use it because I have an on-demand tankless hot water system. If I use the pause valve, the trickle of water that continues coming from the head isn't enough to keep the heater lit. This allows a pulse of cold water to enter the hot water line. When I turn the pause valve back to full blast, I get a dose of cold water when that pulse reaches me. Folks with a tank water heater should not have this problem since the water coming from the tank will continue to be hot even when the pause valve is used. 5Good at saving water, not for rinsing or increasing pressure. I bought this hoping I could hit two birds with one stone and increase water pressure while saving water. I will say that water saving certainly works with this but the water pressure increase was lacking. I found that for me, standing right under the head of it, I had no problem rinsing out shampoo but for my wife and daughter who are much shorter, the water dispersion made rinsing quite difficult. The adjusting pin is fairly useless in my experience as it did very little to increase or decrease volume or pressure. I have since switched to a Delta high pressure set-up and found it much more effective, although also 5X the price. But, for $30, the Delta unit is better in my opinion and one I will purchase again. 3Pressure switch barely works When in "on" mode, the shower head works fine. When I press the button to "reduce flow to a trickle" like it says on the package, the water streams out all over the place, maybe half the pressure of full on mode, and substantially more than a trickle. So much so, in fact, that I just took out a stopwatch and gallon jug to measure it, and I got a full HALF GALLON of water in the "trickle" mode in a minute. I guess that counts as water savings vs. the full flow, but it's far more than a trickle. This is ridiculous. I'll be looking for something better. 1Works, still has decent pressure Obviously, this is not a fancy shower head. It's compact, functional, and well-built. It generates a solid, strong stream, given the limitations of 1.5 GPM.If you want to conserve water and still be able to rinse your hair, this is a good unit.Something to note if you have an on-demand hot water heater (tankless): 1.5 GPM is so low that it may not even trigger your heater to turn on. For example, there is 1.5 GPM going through the head, but for a comfortable shower, that's 0.75 "cold" and 0.75 "hot." Well, that 0.75 GPM may not be sufficient to get your hot water heater to turn on. Also, even if it is on and it is marginal, then a slight drop in water pressure, from a toilet flush for example, could cause your heater to turn off momentarily. You'll notice it as a cold slug of water and an unpleasant moment in your shower. That's not the head's fault, though, just life with a tankless heater. The situation can be remedied mostly by lowering the temperature of your hot water heater. The result is that in order to temper your water, you end up using more "hot" and less "cold" and the heater stays on. 5Disappointing...perhaps mine is a lemon? I have installed about 10 of these in different homes over the years (not sure all were same manufacturer), and this one is "OK" but I am disappointed. It is solid, seems to be good quality, but I can't get the "fine" spray out of this one...it's a bit soft and uneven. I have double checked to make sure there was no partial obstruction, that the plumber's tape was not blocking the pipe where it screws on, and even played with the tightness that I installed it on the pipe. No difference. Also, the shut off button is about 80% effective...leaving a steady dribble when fully pushed. It's not so bad that I can't use it, but I don't think it's up to snuff. I was expecting better, made in U.S.A. and all.... Maybe mine is just defective but I am disappointed. Still...not awful...just not what I was hoping for. I will probably replace it in time... 2Great Powerful Little Showerhead!!! Gets the Job Done!!!
