Customer Reviews

Great tool for the Gunsmith tool box!!! Great and handy tool to keep in Gunsmith tool box. Perfect for installing rifle or pistol scopes. A must for all enthusiasts!!! 5Spend a little more money and go digital I bought this thinking I could use it as an AR torque wrench for my castle nut. I was wrong and I thought it was also a digital readout. I was also wrong. It is relatively hard to read the exact measurement due to the analog device 4The one i got didn't work !! Didnt work at all ! Send it back and got the wheeler digital torque wrench! 1Quality Does exactly what's intended 5Good tool for the job really does the job well. Easy to use and assures that you will not strip or under tighten hardware. 5Just the ticket for gunsmithing and great product support. I needed this because one of the manuals for one of my rifles recommended torqueing specific screws to specific torque settings. Having been a machinist in a former life, I probably could have trusted my expertise, but I erred on the side of safety. It is good to know that the three screws are now tightened to the specified settings. No stripped threads, no screws loosening up on the range.I did have a quality issue with the first one that was shipped to me (ironically a stripped thread on the driver itself - I couldn't set the torque), but the seller quickly and without question replaced the wrench. The replacement kit worked beautifully. 5Torque stuck on high setting- poor quality control Upon first use of the tool, it was stuck on the highest torque setting and would not function. I screwed the torque setting up and down firmly to its end travel in both directions and it began to function properly. They test the torque settings at the factory for accuracy and fail to return it to its lowest setting causing the problem. The wrench should always be returned to its lowest setting to function properly. Poor quality control. 1stay away...but responsive tech services Others have had problems with this tool jamming, I didn't see the reviews until later, so I ordered it looking for a low-cost tool for my range kit. I installed about 5 scopes with the tool then cranked it up to 55 inch lbs (well within the published range) to check action screws on a rifle and after returning the tool to a lower range, it will no longer set above 55 in lbs, maybe slightly less. Being a tinkerer and familiar with slip-type torque wrenches, I removed the bottom and looked inside. The back / bottom of the handle turns to set the torque by rotating a shaft within a set of finely cut threads. There was a lot of 'hair' like substance in the unit that looked like steel wool. This is from the threads shaving down as the unit didn't have grease on the mating parts. So the threads quickly deteriorated to where they failed.Bottom line: The design is functional but poorly executed with cheap metals on the outer case. I doubt any of them will last beyond a few uses over 50 in lbs that puts stress on the threads.Spend your money wisely, I didn't.I spoke to their tech department, a person named Bill, very nice, very helpful, offered to replace the unit even though I took it apart.I suggest, since overall the units seems simple and well designed, taking the bottom off, remove the spring clip, remove the pressure shaft, grease the interior threads, and reassemble if you want to have a long-lasting tool. Alternatively, pay about $220 for a SnapOn. 1Excellent for torquing screws on my aircraft cowling. I haven't lost a screw on my Cessna 172 cowling since I started using this at it's lowest setting. Your wrist can't tell, this makes everything equal on that vibrating cowling. 5Great Torque Wrench Works good at all lbs settings. Easy to adjust. Has a good assortment of screw blades and if it doesn't have the size you need, any of screw driver bits will fit. A very good Torque Wrench. Some adapters (1/4, 3/8 etc) will fit in it and it can be used to tighten bolts, nuts to poundages within its range. 5
