Customer Reviews

So far 1 outside cctv ip camera run fluked 249ft showing all good. I will purchase this againThis cable is the one your looking for. Fully CMX rated, direct burial outside thick casing. Cat6 23awg wiring. I have used others here and there, I was not sure about this companies product due to reviews not saying much. The product I received was a full 1000ft wooden spool of cat6 23awg cmx pure solid copper in a cardboard shipping box, with foot markers printed on the line. So far 1 outside cctv ip camera run fluked 249ft showing all good. I will purchase this again, and I would recommend this product for someone direct burial cat6 line. Yes, it can be a little tough putting ends on due to the thick outing covering. But I can still get it accomplished with ez45 cat6 connectors.5Working great so farI ran this cable to every room in my house all routed to a switch mounted on the outside of my house. I hope this will be a very long term solution but it will be few years before I know the answer to that. The problem I had was putting connectors on the ends. I didn't have a problem with the punch type female connectors but the crimp style were very difficult. I ended up using Platinum Tools 100010C EZ-RJ45 Cat 6+ connectors with a 100054C Clamshell EZ-RJPRO HD Crimp Tool. Once I figured the connectors out the project was done pretty quickly.5A year after the install in pvc conduit, found the outer case had rotted through.About a year after an installation of a cable to the garage I began to notice a signal degradation. When I opened the pvc conduits containing the cable run, I discovered that the outer jacket of the cable had cracks in it about every 3-4 inches. The cracks are around the circumference of the cable, almost as if they had been scored to strip the cable jacket. The entire length o the cable has degraded this way. It was protected inside a pvc conduit the entire run, so the cable jacket just simply broke down. If you simply buried it, you need to worry about what shape the cable is in by now!1Not reaching speeds over 100'This cable works fine for short runs but as soon as you get over 100' in length I can't even hit 100 Mbps. Shorter and it's ok but finally got around to the long runs I purchased this cable for. This cable does have the markings on the outside but I'm guessing it isn't really what it says it is since I have done several tests of a couple of different lengths over 100' with the same results.1My favorite CAT6 cableThis is my favorite CAT6 cable. Solid copper, not CCA/Copper Clad aluminum which isn't even to CAT6 spec. It's also waterproof/resistant, rated for direct burial. So if you need to run this cable outdoors, you can. Personally, I prefer to still run any kind of cable through conduit so you can pull more as needed, but nice to have the option.I actually prefer this cable for inside jobs as well, due to the incredible durability that comes with the extra shielding. It holds up to dragging across semi-sharp surfaces pretty well (like rough conduit ends). This also includes the plastic core for twist retention, as well as a fine nylon pull string that helps relieve tension off the actual copper.Remember that the maximum cable length for Gigabit networks is 100 meters (328 feet). If you need to go longer than that, you'll need to put an inline repeater or switch for each 100m leg. (I usually just install an Ethernet switch, which are pretty cheap.) If you need a super long range pull (up to about a mile), look for a VDSL2 Ethernet Extender, which are also available here at Amazon. These usually max out at 100Mbps fast Ethernet though. If you're pulling cable for a 10G base T connection (10,000Mbps), the maximum distance is 55 meters. The TIA/EIA spec pull tension (how hard you can yank the wire) is 25 foot pounds. In practice that's probably harder than you'll actually want to pull, since this wire has a slight tendency to knot up around obstacles . My biggest concern is usually not kinking the cable; but I also usually pull alone. Having a second set of hands would help that problem a lot. Also, this cable is about 1/4" in diameter, so considerably fatter than other cat5 cable. I use a foot long 3/8" drill bit for most entry/exit holes, and it works great. This wire is NOT shielded (UTP, unsheilded twisted pair), so you want to be careful running it along power wires, florescent lights, and the like especially on long runs. If you need to put this in a cable tray, conduit, or trench alongside a power line, look for STP or FTP cable. Dripstone has a 1000 ft spool of direct bury FTP (foiled twisted pair) available here on Amazon for another $50 or so which would be my choice for that. Dripstone 1000ft CAT6 Bare Copper FTP (Foiled Twisted Pair) Direct Burial Solid Ethernet Cable 23AWG CMX Outdoor Waterproof Wire HDPE insulated Polyethylene FTP isn't as good as STP though (Shielded Twisted Pair), which has each of the 4 pairs shielded individually, which helps prevent crosstalk. Check pictures of the individual cables if you can though, because often STP is used interchangeably with FTP by manufacturers. This comes on a spool--if you want it to feed easily, stick the spool on a broom handle suspended between two chairs, or even across the open cardboard box (might have to use a little tape to keep it in place). If you're in a pinch without a broom, just flip the spool on it's side in the box and pull up. Personally, I'm a big fan of spools instead of easy-pull boxes, because the cable NEVER tangles on a spool like it sometimes does in the boxes. To me, this VIVO 1000 cable spool is the sweet spot. I know I can use it for any job I need (indoor or outdoor), and it will work great and pull easy. New Full Copper 1,000 ft Cat6 Ethernet Cable / Wire 1,000ft Cat-6 Waterproof Outdoor / Direct Burial / Underground ~ by VIVO (CABLE-V010)5Good Cable -- Very Slick InsulationThis is very nice cable. I bought three rolls One great feature not mentioned in the description is that the cable insulation is extremely slick/slippery. This makes the cable very easy to pull thru conduits and thru walls. The cable has an inner nylon spine that separates the pairs and makes the cable stronger. One thing to consider is that the cable is a bit thicker than standard (non-burial) cable and it is difficult to get the insulation into the CAT6 connectors.I measured the cable thickness at .28" (7mm). This is thicker than standard (interior) CAT6 which is about .21-24" (5-6mm)Also note that the statement that the cable comes in a "Easy Pull Out Box" is wrong. It does not. Cable comes on a wooden spool -- as shown in the page image. They really should correct this description.5Worked great for a POE camera installJust ran several hundred feet of this cable for a POE camera setup and pretty happy with the quality. Purchased from Amazon Warehouse Deals and aside from a cracked spool, everything else was in order. As mentioned, the cables are thick and not too flexible. If you need to bunch cables up, then look at the indoor version. Termination wasn't too bad. I had more issues with the CAT6 sleeve than the cable thickness itself. Certainly takes a bit of time to get done, just make sure to test each cable you build. I've got a ton of leftover cable on the spool, so I'll never need to buy a cable of any length again when I can just make one. :)5Good outdoor cat6 cableGood cat 6 cable. Bought my second one after good experience with first one. Used it to put ip cameras at front gate approx 200 feet from poe switch. Getting good frame rates from camera so the cable must not cause any issues. Used PVC conduit from house to camera as I don't trust direct burial with rodents around. Had no issues with putting 4 cables in 1 inch conduit. Would recommend again.4You can put connectors on if you know the trickI found the shielding on this cable to be very tough, and also really smooth allowing for an easier pull through conduit, and the price is great for what you're getting. I've seen other reviews complain that the shielding is too thick to put a connector on, but I've found it is possible. There's two layers of shielding, a black outer layer and a white inner layer. If you cut off just the outer black shielding (see pictures) to the length you need, you can fit a connector on the end. If I need to use direct burial cable again (or just need some tough cat6) I would definitely buy this again.5Great for some things. So far, I'm very pleased with this cable. It is shipped on a wooden spool so you'll need a pipe or something to act as a spindle to make it easy to play out the cable. The cable is true Cat6 with a spline and is well colored so it's easy to tell orange from brown unlike some cable. Light is dim in some places and cheap cables have lame color saturation sometimes. The cable is double jacketed too. So, strip the outer one a bit more than the inner and it's easier to get the inner jacket all the way into your rj45.The jacket is sort of slick so it's easy to pull. This is really helpful in conduit and even attic spaces. Now, you might wonder why I would use this in attics and conduit. If you've run tons of cat5 cable and had troubles with it stretching, kinking, twisting, or generally taking more time that it should, this cable is nice and stiff and hard to kink. It pulls through conduit super easy and doesn't get caught up in tough attic runs. It costs more than cat5, but it some cases, the saved time running it more than makes up for the saving in materials.5
