Customer Reviews

Looks real when not flashing Mounted easy with double sided mounting tape to stucco outside (the kind if tape that comes with hooks). Completely looks real. The red flashing LED is constant on it with batteries in. Makes it too obvious in my opinion, draws more attention then anything cause the LED is too bright (makes it look fake when it's on cause no real surveillance camera flashes like that). If there was a switch to change between a constant or flashing and had a dimmer LED, would be worth double and 5 stars.I'm keeping it and just taking the batteries out cause it looks so real when it's off. Im gonna order more for the rest of my place. Completely worth $10 for a little more peace of mind. 4Great Deterrent I bought this product with the idea of fixing a permanent problem with a temporary solution. It was good. The batteries last about 2 months and you have to be on top of it making sure the light it's on. I end up buying a real monitoring system but for the time I utilized this product, it fit the purpose . Will not recommended for exterior, specially if you live by the coast due to the corrosion eats the wires quickly. 3Great product. Cheaply made. Great addition to my college apartment. The sticker was a nice addition, and is displayed proudly on my apartment door. The camera is pretty cheaply made and very fragile however. Just some thin plastic that actually broke a little when I dropped it. In fact, it cracked down the whole side of the camera come to think of it. Be very careful when installing the batteries as well, as the wires are exposed and are soldered on by what has to be the most fragile looking work I've ever seen. Has to be a product of China. Mounting is a little tricky, but once you get it, it will look very realistic. That red LED lasts over a month on AA's, but plan on it getting dimmer over time as the batteries deplete. 4As An Add-on to Real System Be aware that they are a bit of a Chinese puzzle to open for battery installation. You have to turn the base counter clockwise to release the ball (the part that looks like the camera), being careful not to drop the ball. Then you have to do the same with the ball to open the battery compartment - and be careful when opening the ball! Two thin battery wires attach the two halves. Break one and you'll need to do a soldering job.Plan on finding a few screws to replace those provided for mounting. They are made of some type of hardened butter substance that strip out if you meet any resistance when mounting the camera. No big deal, though. I found replacements easily enough in my junk drawer (who doesn't keep a collection of "just-in-case" screws, nuts, and bolts?).I purchased 2 of these fakes to be used as an enhancement to a real 24/7 DVR system I previously installed. These fakes were placed in areas that were "blind" to my recorder because my 4 camera system couldn't provide 100% coverage of my home. I placed my real cameras to cover vital areas of my property and used these fakes to cover the remaining, but non-critical areas.I'm still undecided about the blinking red light. Personally, I'd prefer a constantly lit light that would more closely resemble a real Infra-Red working camera. However, The blinking light does get the attention of potential thieves who would undoubtedly take a second look before proceeding further and likely see my real cameras. As far as my neighbors know, every camera is real (they saw me installing the real system) and this is the key to using fakes.1. NEVER reveal to anyone which cameras are fake. A trusted neighbor may have a friend or family member who is a thief.2. Placement should be out of reach and at a height that would prevent a close visual inspection.3. They should never be used as the only "security" method for a home, but in conjunction with a real surveillance system.I purchased mine when they were 4 dollars each and though I see now (at the time of this review) they have increased more than 60% in price, they are still cheaper than other similar fakes and I still recommend them. 5One Star light flickers and yes - I tried dift batteries 1Looks Real This is a great little fake camera. I put it up near my front door and I have had several people make a remark to me thinking it was real. I tried it with the batteries but then took the advice of another reviewer and took them out and it looks much more realistic. 5Very convincing deception I purchase this unit, along with some of the "outdoor" versions for mounting on a front porch. This (indoor) version looks very realistic. The LED blinks on/off convincingly, and it is easy to direct the "camera" to whatever angle you want. Excellent product. 5A "good enough" product. A "good enough" product.Really needs to have 3 washers included in order to cinch the mounting screws in tightly. Would also benefit from a mounting "direction mark" on the base so that you can have it point in the right direction while you mark the "drill here" points. The "Ultimate Version" would skip the red LED (which real security cameras do not have) and have "facial tracking", turning the camera lens to follow the location of the person. I would pay $50 or more for that! 3and that's great. I purchased these to keep people honest A lot of people out there use these to supplement a small security system, and that's great. I purchased these to keep people honest. If someone wants to break into your house and steal your stuff, well they are going to. I don't see the point in locking my house down like Fort Knox, but I do see value in adding features that might persuade someone on the fence to look elsewhere. That is preciously what these are great for. I purchased 2, one to put at the front door and one by my garage pointing at my driveway. I made my conspicuous, cause to me, that's the point. I want people to see them and most do. Most importantly these look real. I have seen the real version of these on the local Jack In The Box. So the good thing is they are common enough people recognize them, giving them all the more reason to believe they are real. For me, these are well worth the money. 5Neat product. Bought it to deter anyone from trying to steal shipped packages from our front porch. Looks like the real thing so I'm happy with it. 5
