    Razor Sharp Images I have two other cameras in my home security system but needed something with a wider field of view. I thought my other cameras were very good, but this camera is like the difference between watching an old vhs tape and an HD Tv broadcast. The image is super sharp and contrasty, much like an HD broadcast picture...no kidding. People are very recognizable images and the field of view is fantastic. I will be ordering another one very soon.The price is very fair for this camera. Hookup was a breeze.The only negative is the night vision infrared lighting doesn't extend very far, but I don't care about that. The camera has such a great low light image you only need a small amount of light to get a great image. As a matter of fact I will probably try to disable the IR lights. You will be very happy with this camera. 5Great replacement camera for starter system I recently installed a cheap Zmodo DVR system on my home. The cameras that were bundled with it are terrible, with incorrect colors (black displaying purple, and green displaying brown) and awful IR performance. I bought this camera as a replacement for my driveway cam and wow, what a difference. The daytime picture looks good, but the IR is 100% better. The IR illumination has great throw. The wide angle lens works well to see the larger area. The Zmodo power supply couldn't power this camera, so I did have to use the included power supply by hooking it into the Zmodo wire bundle I already ran, which worked perfectly. I'm going to purchase a few more of these to replace the junk cameras that came in my kit.The only reason I deduct one star is because the dinky mounting screw supplied with this wouldn't let me attach the mount to the top of the camera. There is a threaded hole there, but the screw isn't long enough to thread in. Other than that small complaint, this camera is good value for the money.Update: After almost 4 months about half of the IR LEDs have burned out on this camera. Deducting another star for this. Still not a bad camera for the price, as there aren't many alternatives in this price range. No fogging or leaking problems, but my camera is mounted under the eve so there is no direct exposure to precipitation. We'll see how it handles cold winter temps. I'll update my review in a few months.Update: I have three of these cameras mounted now, all for just over 1 year. The IR LEDs have almost completely failed on all three. The LEDs seem to be arranged in 4 banks/quadrants. None of the cameras have more than one functional bank of LEDs. Surprisingly, they still have good clarity at night even with minimal IR illumination. The cameras themselves are functioning well in all other aspects. 3Tried Another VideoSecu with this model ...AMAZING I already have 4 VideoSecu cameras that I purchased on Amazon and very happy with their performance..wanted to get this model just to see if the extra LEDS and a little larger size are different..plus I would have a spare.....the other 4 have been through snow, rain, wind and freezing temps in the single digits and with no problems....I received this within 2 days of ordering so when it came last night I just had to swap out one of my other bullet cameras with this one for a test......I can't believe the wide view and the visibility in complete darkness for a great distance. Blows me away! I waited to do the reviews of the other cameras to get part way through the winter to see how they held up.so I assume this will be just as good in the long run ....will leave this one up now for the large view and distance at night..... 5Perfect add on to Night Owl 8 cam system I purchased this to add to one slot on my 8 channel system. I wanted a camera that had actual color and most importantly had a wide field of view to pan the front of my house and parking area. Worked perfectly for this purpose. I have only had online for two days but I think as long as it lasts, that it serves its purpose perfectly in this case. It has survived two thunderstorms and the rain x I put on the lens worked perfectly. The night vision lives up to its stats as well. Wish all my cameras were this good. I think I'll get another for the rear of the house and gradually replace failed cameras with these models. Although, after 4 years all 6 of my Night owl cameras have functioned near perfection. As long as you microfiber the fogging from the lenses every 6 months to maintain a crisp and clear image day and night. Highly recommended, and thumbs up on Video Secu camera with wide field view. 5Super Security Camera I first started with an Astak CMOS security cameras. The daylight video was good but the night vision was not good at all. After a few years I upgraded to some SVAT cameras. The daylight and night vision video was much better than the Astak, but the night vision was still not great.I just bought this VideoSecu camera as a test. I am totally blown away with this camera. The daylight video is super. It gives a much clearer view, larger video area and distance. Much greater distance and clarity than the other cameras. The night vision is better that the daylight video of the other cameras. It is really just like looking out during the day. I was not expecting the camera to be as good as it is for the price. I highly recommend this camera and I plan to replace all my cameras with this model. 5Excellent camera for the money, nice truly wide view, mostly good color After purchasing a cheaply priced (but well working) Zmodo 8 camera DVR kit I decided to see about updating some of the default Zmodo cameras that came with the unit to something better for areas that need it. One problem with the Zmodo units is that they had an extremely narrow field of view. Putting one above my garage door meant I could only see about 30% of the two car driveway.I decided to give this VideoSecu camera a shot and was a little hesitant due to the low price. Can't be any more happy with the unit. Not only is it a much wider viewing angle which can pick up all 100% of my two car driveway and a bit of the grass on either side, it also had a better picture quality and color balance.Will definitely consider picking some more of these units up for areas that need a wider field of view or a better quality picture.The only downsides I could say is that the unit can really only be mounted on a wall based on the included camera mounts adjustability. The unit it replaced was mounted under a overhang and could adjust to any degree so I had to move where I mounted it. So not so great for mounting on a ceiling, but great adjustments for mounting onto a wall.See my picture in the customer images to see the difference between the Zmodo and the VideoSecu unit. 4Excellent Had it installed for a week, and it is far better than the 5 year old and more expensive Sony that it replaced because it stopped working.Very brightly illuminated at night at good distance for my gate security camera use.Additional comments.==============Jan 2013I have bought five more of these and installed 6 months ago on new house. They are working well. Higher resolution would be nice for the DVR recordings. But they work very well and night vision is incredible. 5Great value and durability. I've ordered several of these over the years to replace cameras that came as part of a system. Better optics and better night vision capabilities than most entry level camera systems. For this price you aren't going to get state of the art video surveillance, but they are durable and reliable. The oldest ones I have installed have been solid performers for 3-4 years. I have 8 of these and none have failed or degraded through 24/7/365 usage as outdoor cameras in all forms of weather with temps ranging from below 0 degrees to well over 100 degrees. The only maintenance I've had to perform on them is to remove spider webs due mostly to the sliding hoods. I'd rather deal with that than lose the benefits of using the hood to prevent glare and direct sun exposure to the camera. I've used captured images from these cameras to support improper delivery or non-delivery of packages and to law enforcement regarding search for vehicles/people . Again, not the best cameras on the market, but for their resolution, design (metal), and durability I have not found a better value. 5Pretty good camera - Not spectacular by any means This camera is decent and has "OK" night vision. I'm not blown away nor disappointed with this camera. For my needs this wide angle camera works well. I have much better cameras and some worse cameras so this one falls in the middle. For the money it's about what I expected. As all wide angle cameras, it is difficult to make out detail at any range. The LEDs appear to be much brighter then some of the competition. If I need another camera (of this caliber) I will probably get this one again. 4VideoSecu Cam, X00092Y35D I am not in the habit of doing reviews, but this cam is about as good as one can expect for the price. I have dozens of similarly priced cams purchased over the past 10 years so I have a lotexperience in this area. Most home CCTV cams do a reasonable job in day light, but too often fail badly at night. What makes this superior is the excellent gamma, based on visual observation, not measurement. At night, black areas are displayed a satisfying deep black, while whites are captured with the proper intensity. Note that poorly made cams (most of the el cheapos) tend to blur a range of shades between black and white. Running a quick A-B test on my older cams, it was immediate that this cam had superior fine details in its night mode. As someone mentioned, this cam is rated at only 420 lines, but it out performed cams with higher line rating. It was the main reason why I decided to take a chance with this cam. Over the years, I learn that it isn't the number of lines, but how linear is the gamma response. You can have 520 lines, and poor gamma and end up with a blurring of details. Swann DVR have some of the worst cams made, where at night, dark areas comes out flat gray, and bright white areas comes out a dull gray. I am in the process of replacing most of them.The wide angle lens is not just a plus, but is a must for good coverage when placed in a corner of a room. With a standard lens, you lose about 30% of the view presented by this cam. In some cases, I would need two cams to provide enough coverage. Not anymore. Also, the mount is a decent sturdy mount, compared to the flimsy mount found in cheap cams.One reason I am contributing this review is that it is nearly impossible to buy cams based on the specs provided. As explained above, number of lines doesn't cut it. For lack of full professional specs, we are all buying a pig in a poke. Thanks to Amazon user reviews, we now have a better chance of beating the odds. 5
