Customer Reviews

Great item for price. When I was a professional photographer I had a company-owned rotating bracket where the camera rotated not the speedlight. That particular item (for my personal camera) is out of my price range.Picture shows my D5100, speedlight and this item: Neewer 9.8 feet/3 m i-TTL Off Camera Flash Speedlite Cord for Nikon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00YUAMAUO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apap_uh6hey72JWSGSTo get flash on you have to unscrew that red piece at the top. There were no instructions saying that and did come close to returning before figuring this part out 5Solid construction. Terrible smell on the grip. Very solid construction, easy to move the bracket, stays in place. As mentioned in other reviews, there is a terrible smell on the foam grip. After a few days and 4 times of spraying Lysol, it was still pretty strong. It's been about a month and I can't smell it anymore, but the smell still gets on my hand when I hold it. I wouldn't store this in the same bag as your other equipment for a while. 4The glue used for the rubber matting for the camera attached portion is not a very good glue and has to be replaced The product is built backwards. the riser arm (handle) is in the way of the shutter release button. If you try to reverse it and go into a portrait mode The Flash far will fall down on you. The Flash attachment needs a locking washer because it came loose on Me 3 times and I almost lost my flash in a three-hour period. The glue used for the rubber matting for the camera attached portion is not a very good glue and has to be replaced. The bottom line is that I would not recommend this product to anybody. 1For about fifty cents the manufacturer could eliminate about 90 percent of the negative reviews 23MAY2019. For about fifty cents the manufacturer could eliminate about 90 percent of the negative reviews. Most of the negative reviews are about the thin foam pad on the handle and poor gluing of the rubber pad for the camera to rest on.The Vello QuickDraw Rotating Flash Bracket is about the right size for my Nikon D7500 Dx DLSR with the Nikon 16-80mm F2.8-4 Dx VR lens, not strong enough for my D700 Fx bodies (but In have a heavier bracket for that setup). One more thing that could be improved, there should be a pin or ridge at the front of the flash shoe holder, to prevent accidentally having something slide off (yes there is a side clamp to lock down the foot of the flash), however, having bought many brackets of various types since 1977, I cannot think of one that does not have a front stop of some kind. 4It works OK ... It works OK but it could use a lot more padding on the handle (light foam). The worst thing about it is the rotating arm. There is no way to lock it in place and the screw holding it cannot be tighten enough to hold it in place. It just flops over if you rotate it. I think I can fix it by either changing out some washers or drilling a hole for a pin. The rotating bit was no a big selling point for me so if I have to I'll permanently fix it in place. 3Smelly-handled Flash Bracket makes taking video easier. Great product...for the most part.First, the good. It works with my camera(on the bottom) and shotgun mic(on the top). The thumb screw on the bottom is large and easy to tighten. The clamp on the top works too, though my mic did pop out when I put it in. But it stayed the second time I tried to connect it.The only downside to this product is the material that makes the handle cover makes your hand smell like a weird chemical, and it's not a faint smell either. I've had it for 10 days and the smell is still going strong. If you can get over the smell(I am still getting used to it) then this is a great product that works as intended. 4Bad design, bad quality I've used this bracket maybe a dozen times, and on the fourth or fifth time I used it the piece of rubber that the camera sits on came off. I have to restick it every time I use it and even then it will slide off while I m shooting. To top it off pushing the thing back in place gets the glue all over my hands creating a sticky mess.ALSO: in order to have the flash rotate above the camera you have to mount it with the handle on the right side of the bracket, effectively blocking the shutter button. I turned it to the other side so that the handle is on the left, but that means when I flip the camera to go portrait, the bracket goes DOWN underneath the camera. (see pictures). If I m supposed to unscrew it a bit and flip it around mid shoot, I would hardly call that QuickDraw. Overall: this is a horriblly designed, cheaply made, useless piece of gear. DO NOT BUY. 1Good Value for the Price, But a Little Light-Weight for Big Rigs This works for its intended purpose, and is a cost effective solution if you need a flash bracket. I find the padding on the handle to be insufficient and would prefer a thicker and higher density foam be used here. I'm not a fan of the clamp type shoe bracket either, and would prefer a standard slide type shoe receiver. In fairness, I'm trying to use this with a Canon 1DX camera and 580EX flash unit. With my lens, this is about 6 pounds of camera and glass. This bracket is probably a little too light for this setup. The camera tends to rotate around the mount screw when I carry the bracket at my side, and the top tends to swing up as I carry it. I can live with these issues as I rarely use the bracket, and for only short periods when I do. However, with a big rig and shooting all day (such as at a wedding) you should invest in a heftier rig. I think this would work with a smaller setup just fine (ex. 7D with a a 28-135 and 430 flash). For the price, it's a very satisfactory bracket. 3Better than I expected So I thought this was going to feel really cheap before I got it, I was wrong, it's far more rigid and sturdy that I expected, the mounts are all very secure and the multiple mounting locations are super nice, though I'll mainly use the same one having other options is always good. This fit perfectly with my D800 and my Yongnuo YN622 wireless trigger on top, it also for with my battery grip but I would have to remove my wireless trigger so I'll just use this without my battery grip because I'm not going to get the hotshoe cord, I'll stick to my wireless. The cold shoe mount felt really sturdy as well when I put my Speedlite in, I don't feel like I'd have to worry about it falling off a song as I secured it really well. The only thing that I think will be an issue on this is the foam grip, super cheap foam and I'm sure it will wear and rip soon after a good shoot, but that's not a big deal because I'm sure I can DIY a sweet soft grip on it after anyway, no biggie.Great product, great price, very happy 5Has one fatal flaw I bought this as a replacement for another one that I had for about 5 or 6 years. It was time to replace it. The construction of this one in terms of material was good however it had a fatal flaw to it. The rubber at the bottom that the camera sits on fell off. I tried to glue it back on many times but it simply would fall off again. At one point I could not find that rubber. I quickly found out that the bracket was useless without it. I couldn't screw the camera on and completely fasten it to the unit. This particular fly has been very frustrating and has made the bracket useless to me. 2
