It worksOne of my cats has a habit of using the living room rug when she gets periodic urinary tract issues. This blacklight works better than others I have tried in the past, illuminating clearly the urine spots. It also illuminates bits of fiber from clothes, etc., but it's still easy to see and then treat the stain. Reasonable price for quality product and the batteries are included. Highly recommend.5If you have pets or travel a lot, you need this!If you have pets or if you travel a lot, you need this UV light! It makes it simple to discover if and where your pets may have decided to pee.I find it works best in the dark. Seriously, any urine or body fluids begin to glow. Yes, white fabric and surfaces glow, as do areas cleaned with certain detergents, but it's easy to tell the difference. Glowing detergent in areas where you have cleaned has very fuzzy edges, where as pet urine or body fluids have defined edges. You can clearly see droplets or spray patterns.This is a small flashlight and doesn't put out as much light as a larger one I have, but it works very well, particularly in a dark room. I like the small size since it fits in a drawer or a suitcase without taking up much space.It comes with the batteries pre-installed and ready to use.Besides checking up on your pets, it's a wonderful tool to take with you when traveling. It shows cat urine and vomit spots that are not visible in natural light. It is within the 365-385 nanometer range that shows cat urine. (An answered question says it is 375 .) It is sturdy and well made, including the switch. It works much better than a florescent tube type pet stain light I've had for a few years that worked OK. This one shows spots that did not show up with the other light. Now I need an enzyme cleaner, to make the already cleaned spots disappear under black light.5Well worth the moneyWe bought this little flashlight to check for spots we missed during cleanup of a persons house that had a spraying cat.We found so much more than we expected to find. I caught my cat peeing on the carpet and searched the whole house with this light to make sure I wasn't missing any other spots. I now carry it in my purse (for no particular reason) and have used it as a low level flashlight when my phone was dead.5Finds pet stains easily and quickly This UV light worked exactly as described. I was amazed how effectively this light performed. Just turn it on and shine on any surface, if anything is left behind by the critters, it finds it instantly. It does have to be dark for it to work, but it does not have to be total darkness. I highly recommend this product. By the way, there was a circular disc below the battery module that you must remove for it to work. You can smell something, but you don't see anything, so you don't know where to clean. Here's the solution. Turn out the lights and turn on this flashlight. You might be pleasantly surprised that there really is nothing there, or you might be horrified at all the stains. You just can't tell until you put a black light on it.Our story: We knew the previous owner of our newly bought house had a dog or maybe a few because the one room with carpeting had a slight dog smell. We didn't mind. We had a dog of our own. But what we had not noticed during our walk-throughs were all the Glade plug-ins around the room. After moving in, we would occasionally find a spot in there where our dog had peed, which was unusual because he was house trained. But he was in a new environment and he was 14 years old--a few accidents were probably normal. After a few months of living there, the carpet room began smelling worse and worse as the plug-ins became less and less effective. I had to know what was going on in there so I got this flashlight. When we shined the black light flashlight on the carpet, I felt like I was in an episode of CSI at a gruesome murder scene. The whole carpet lit up with stains. It was horrifying!!! The previous owners had steam cleaned the carpet so all the stains were just spread out, permeating the whole carpet. The carpet was a blaring invitation for a dog to pee on it. We ended up replacing it.Our dog died not long after moving in. It was very sad, but we really missed having a dog, so we adopted a new dog. Then we adopted a second dog because this house has the space and a yard big enough for two. Rescue dogs are like a box of chocolates. The first dog pottied outside like a champ. The second dog wasn't potty-trained at all, and this flashlight has helped me greatly to find and clean any pee spots I couldn't see, but I could smell. This flashlight is a must-have for dog owners!!5This one worked and the other one didn't for cat peeWorks great. Cat pee shows brightly. I listened to reviews on the other one I bought. I guess the brightness was too high, nothing really showed. This one shows every little stain on your carpet besides the cat pee, but the stains on animal urine are very easy to figure out. They are round with smooth edges. I'm glad I bought this. Now wish me luck getting the pee out.5
