NOT 1GB, more like 200ish...My problem as IT person that this device can't check the download speed accurately. Even though they claim it's 1GB... PFFF. please spare me the lies.I wanted to use it for work with my galaxy S9 to replace my laptop on the go. After testing dozen of routers and modems keep getting mixed results. Mostly this adapter would max out at 180 mbps download, while on 5G Wi-Fi I'm getting 360 mbps.Conclusion, only buy for the purpose of using Ethernet functionality. 3works like a charmbought this dongle to have my Samsung S8 on ethernet. works like a charm. 5Plug-n-play, works great, recommendedThis adapter works great with my Asus Zenbook laptop. No issues with connectivity and speed tests show full speed over the ethernet to UBS C conversion. The adapter is compact and the USB C plug is small enough to fit between the micro HDMI port and a USB A port on either side - no issues. It does get warm, but nothing alarming. There is a green connection indicator LED as well as a green activity LED indicator. Device is plug and play in Windows 10 with no drivers to install.Build quality feels on par with the cost of the item. The real bacon saving is when I went to install Linux Mint 17.3... and it wouldn't work with my Intel wifi chipset. This USB 3.1 dongle worked immediately with Linux Mint, and I couldn't be happier. I can now download my drivers and go about my business.Also, I was going to buy the Dell 3.1 Hub thing but it was expensive, had stuff I didn't need and I read comments about it not working for Linux.
