Customer Reviews

Better choices are availableHeadphones worked for 5 minutes then quit working. I contacted Urbanears customer support who made me send multiple emails with pictures before they would send out replacement headphones. Replacement headphones worked for one run then quit. I again contacted customer support at Urbanears and they would not grant refund, only product exchange. I contacted Amazon who then allowed me to ship headphones back with refund. Not impressive at all.1Comfortable, very functional.Really love these! The sound isn't the best, but for my purposes it's perfect. It is not noise-cancelling and this is good because it means I can actually listen to music and talk to people at the same time. This makes it safer for walking around and biking too. They're super comfortable once you figure out how to get them in the ears properly. My primary use so far is using them in the gym and for practicing yoga and they word perfect for both these activities.5Power button flaw renders them useless.Have had two sets of these things over a year. First one stopped working in less than two months, power button stopped working, couldn't turn them on.I was able to return them and get a new set even though I'd had them more than a month (Thanks Amazon!). This one sat on dresser for a few months while I used another set of headphones. Got around to using them again a couple months ago. Two days ago the same problem came up, power button will no longer turn them on.Expect more from a headset that costs nearly $100 than a couple months of acceptable usage before they are rendered inoperable.1Wished they were better because I liked the designI bought this because I hate the bouncing cord on most Bluetooth headsets. This design intrigued me. I liked the fit and the comfort. I thought the buttons were easy to reach on the back of the head and the cord didn t bounce.Unfortunately, function and performance didn t match form. I wore them first on a fiveMile run. The Bluetooth connection kept skipping out every few seconds with the phone in my pocket. Then, 3 miles in, the battery died after being charged fully prior. Despite me wanting them to be better, I returned these defective headphones for a refund.2Excellent Exercise Earbuds/Headphones!My wife bought these for use on her Peloton (stationary exercise bike) and loves them. Originally she was worried she wouldn't like how they wrap around the back of the neck so tightly because she has long hair, but it doesn't interfere. Most importantly, the ear parts stay in place very well. Just a warning, for anyone with glasses these will most likely interfere with them since they go over your ears like glasses earpieces. Also, these are excellent quality, but if you have sticker-shock from the price, there are cheaper, lesser namebrand versions out there that are almost identical to these in appearance (don't know about the sound quality).5Great design, but battery life is a deal breakerFits very well, and perfect for wearing during work or when exercising, as there is little to no risk of them falling out. In terms of functionality - as some other reviewers pointed out, the buttons are very tightly spaced together, so you need to fumble around for a few seconds to make sure you get the right one. If you have long hair, you will either have to tie it back, or tuck it underneath the headphones, otherwise, the process of accessing the buttons can quickly get very tedious. My main problem was the battery life. These last a few hours at best, which is pretty disappointing, considering most bluetooth headphones on the market last at least ten times longer than that. Some reviewers also pointed out connectivity issues, but I didn't have a problem there, was able to easily pair with both my computer and portable devices.Update: a few weeks of use, and the bluetooth connectivity has been suffering too. Cuts out a lot, and sometimes my phone or iPad won't even be able to find the device. Overall, not a great product, which is sad, because I've used various urbanears headphones and earbuds for years and loved them.2Many flaws, but no alternative for this styleFeedback in reviews here is generally very accurate but they after still the best solution for me compared to alternatives.Reasons to buy:1. They don't seal in the ear, so you still can hear cars people around you and you can wear them for a long time or during sort without getting sweaty ears. Nearly every other headphone I looked at relies on this to get good sound.2. They don't rest on your shoulders. Headphones that do this pull out of the ear or flop around if you move with any energy.3. They are attached to each other with easy to find controls.4. Battery life is not an issue for me.5. I'm not an audiophile at all - but to me these sound good, nice full sound (for headphones).Negatives: so I should start this with a notes that while there are a lot of negatives they are still the only ones I would buy at this price point.1. They don't work well with [sun] glasses that have fat legs as they both need to go behind the ear.2. The Bluetooth range is unfathomably bad. My most common usage is phone (Samsung s7 and pixel 2 XL) in jeans pocket listening to music. If my phone is pointing down there music breaks up like a skipping CD, turned the other way round it works but it's easily upset, e.g. leaning against a counter. It just amazes me that a product can be this bad at a basic function. Even my $50 phillips Bluetooth headphones don't have any problems with this.3. I have average sized ears (male) and need to use the smallest covers. There is no way my wife can use these.4. As with other reviewers the battery cover on my first pair was installed incorrectly so it wouldn't close and only solution was to remove it. Which didn't seem to matter except for water proofing. Based on my sample size (2) you have a 50% chance of this happening.5. IMHO the buttons on the break are break to front, they make sense when you look at the product, but when wearing not to me.6. The buttons being shaped is a cool idea but in practice didn't help me to figure out which one m pressing unless I really feel around them.7. Wind noise when cycling is epic, my previous headphones where Apple wired ones which of course have some wind noise, but compared to this it was nothing.Based on all this is world still recommend buying unless one of the negatives is a problem for you. If an alternative comes up I will jump ship immediately. It sorry of amazes me that a modern product could have so many easy to fix flaws or fail at basic quality control.4AvoidI purchased this product because there's nothing worse during a ran than constantly trying to jam your headphones back into your ears. These fit extremely well and the sound was excellent, but there's a flaw here that ruined the experience anyway: bluetooth connectivity. The music sounded like a CD that was constantly skipping. It was worse while running/moving and worse still if I held my cell phone by the edges. Next on the list of flaws are the controls, which are very small buttons spaced very close together. No matter which one I wanted to press, I always hit the power button. Very frustrating.2Not for runners or people who sweat a lotI love the fit and design of these headphones. I found the buttons intuitive, they fit my ears well (I'm a woman with a medium sized head), the battery life is excellent (6 hours at least), and they don't bounce at all. But these headphones don't work for me because I sweat *a lot* when I run. The charging port cover is not completely waterproof and is inexplicably placed on the inside of the unit (flush with the back of the head). I have long hair, I sweat a lot from my head, and I am training for a marathon in hot and humid conditions. The flimsy charging port cover couldn't hack it in these conditions. I went through four sets of these headphones in as many months before I gave up on them. I even tried taping over the charging port at one point because I really, really wanted these to work. Alas, they still broke. Thankfully Urban Ears has great customer service and kept replacing them.If you're looking for headphones for biking or low impact activities or if you live somewhere cold, give these a try. But I can't recommend these for hot weather long distance running.3Comfortable, easy to pair, sounds good, but no battery level to smart phoneI'll be wearing them for the first time this afternoon. Meanwhile, they were easy to pair and seem comfortable for the short time I wore them. The sound quality was clear and easily loud. The reason for 4 stars rather than 5 was that this Bluetooth devices doesn't appear to furnish its battery level to the connected device (my Android phone) unlike most Bluetooth devices. This means you have to guess at the battery level and hope that you don't run out during a workout. My previous BT headphone (the Plantronics Backbeat FIT) actually told you the battery level at power up as well as furnishing it to the host device. I'd like this to be a standard feature of all BT headphones. It's also curious that no where in the description does it say anything about being "water resistant" or "water proof". In fact, one of the other customer reviews mentions that they are not good for people who sweat a lot. I'm about to wear them while it's lightly raining, so I'll see how they survive.Update (after first run with them): the ear pieces don't stay in my ears very well. Another reviewer mentioned that they don't seal at all in the ear so that you can hear sounds around you; this is an understatement. There were a number of times when I couldn't hear the headphones at all even at the highest volume level with cars rushing by me. Another reviewer mentioned that the audio breaks up (like an old Sony first generation Walkman); that happened MANY times during this run.On a positive note, they were comfortable (except for not staying in my ears) over the entire run and the USB charging cable is one of the longest cables I've ever seen with a set of BT headphones.4
