Customer Reviews

Out! You Tacks and Staples! My wife and I ordered one Staple Remover (Double Rock), one "Great Neck T14c Tack Puller," and one "North County Tool Repair Upholstery Staple Remover." The types of staples, the type of wood or fabric, and the force behind the stapling machine all determine which staple remover works the best. Sometimes we use them in tandem. Overall, for the minimal amount of "hobby re-upholstery" we have done so far, the "North County Tool Repair Upholstery Staple Remover" is used more frequently; the Staple Remover (DoubleRock) places second in frequency use; and the Great Neck t14c Tack Puller places third in frequency use. HOWEVER, know for sure that sometimes any one of them may work where the other two won't. The three tools we have on "standby" for staple removal are self-locking, tight grabbing pliers to pull out the staples that break; and a nail setting punch with hammer for the broken staples that the self-locking, tight grabbing pliers cannot pull out. 5Better than most others Used in an upholstery shop, and so far no problems. It is not a magic wand, but it does seem to be a little better at getting both sides of the staple out than some of the other pullers. It also provides a little more leverage than some other tools. I'm not sure about the poor reviews. I don't think they were using it properly or maybe their expectations were a little too high (this is an upholstery staple puller - not a construction staple puller). I have used every type of staple puller on the market, and this is the first one I grab when disassembling furniture. 4Makes quick work of staples! I bought this to remove small staples from dining room chairs in order to reupholster. I tried first to do it the hard way with a chisel and pliers, but soon tired. For $11, this was a really nice and sturdy tool to have. It decreased time for each chair to 30-40 minutes, and that was for removal of about 200 staples/chair. I still did need the pliers to remove many staples, but it was extremely handy to have! 5Works ok for some applications. Works pretty well for tacks and some staples, but I reverted back to my tiny screwdriver and pliers to get the tough staples out. Too bad since this is the second type I have purchased to remove staples. Staples that are long and narrow put in with a pneumatic gun are VERY hard to get out. 2so finding this tool was a great discovery. I removed over 1500 staples from the ... This saved my life, and my sanity. I had promised to recover my daughter's dining room chairs, which she had inherited from my mother. The chairs were a wreck and had to be taken apart right down to the frame. I was anticipating having to use a screwdriver and pliers, so finding this tool was a great discovery. I removed over 1500 staples from the six chairs, so this was a big help. After I had finished, I found a tool almost identical to this one at Joanne Fabrics at a lower price than I paid on Amazon. 5It actually works I had to pull literally thousands of staples holding screen mesh onto wood and this little tool was a lifesaver as well as a big time saver. I was going nuts trying to get the staples out with one of those little Y-shaped staple removers and pliers. This tool does not pop all of the staples out completely so maybe 20-25% required pliers to pull the last bit out. But if you can get in under the staples squarely, and lever them out, (as the tool is designed to do, it usually works great. If you have a lot of staples to remove this is the tool to get.To get 5 stars I would like to see it get 95% of the staples out in one step. 4Makes Staple Removal Painless (and sort of fun) This tool is a godsend for removing heavy duty staples from wood. It is well built and feels very comfortable, sturdy, and natural in the hand. The feature I love and didn't expect was a metal piece that clamps down on the 'bridge' of the staple when you start to leverage the handle. The clamp ensures that the staple comes out completely, whereas almost every other tool I've used it has been a hit or miss as to whether just one side or both would come out. So amazingly simple yet functional. If you remove heavy duty with any frequency at all, do not waste another minute trying to pry and wiggle staples out with a screwdriver and pliers. The other reviewer mentioned that this is way overpriced for what it is. I completely disagree. I paid $18 shipped and it is on par quality-wise with other tools in the same price range, and if you put a price on your time and peace of mind, this pays for itself on the first job. 5This tool saved my hands from terrible cramps. This product worked well. I had 8 chairs to recover and I had several thousand of staples to remove to get the old opholstery off. This tool saved my hands from terrible cramps. 5Not really worth it. I'm going to buy the Osborn 124 and 120 tool made for reupholstering to see if they are better. I wanted to like this staple puller so bad. I probably should have done my research and went onto youtube. *DOH* this one is not thin and sharp enough to go under pressure gun tacks. I've been trying to pull them out of a very old rococo style couch for some time now. I've given up on the project at the moment, atleast until my new tools arrive. This tool did do some things correctly and that is lift the staples out with ease when you did get it perfectly centered underneath the nail. The problem with this tool is that the tip isnt narrow enough to get underneath the tool. I'm also too scared to break the tool if I were to use a hammer to try to get underneath the tough staples I've been trying to deal with Overall, I would say try it if you dont have really tight staples and gaps, otherwise this tool is virtually useless getting underneath staples. Once you do get them down though, it does work but you have to rock is gently and CENTERED on the staple in order to remove the staples. 2Works like the reviews say Wow I pulled out staples from 10 chairs in one night to reupholster them. Worked effortlessly! I am 60 and a 5' woman. Itried all kinds of staple removers but this was the best by far! 5
