Customer Reviews

Does not fit homepatrol 2 This unit does not I repeat not fit the home Patrol if you look at the picture carefully that connector does not even match up to any connector on the home Patrol 2 does anyone have a solution to this problem 1Nearly exelent GPS works a treat but the interface plug is made of the flimsiest plastic ever. Less than a month and the only ways to keep it seated in my scanner are invoking a higher power or holding the flippin' thing with both hands.Still, to be fair, it's otherwise well designed and performs well. 3it works, but is fragile so i got this to use with my homepatrol II unit. works great but the actual plug that connects to the scanner itself is made from the flimsiest plastic avail. so once it breaks, as mine did, it will no longer keep itself plugged into the scanner. using a paperclip and rubber bands now. just ordered the replacement cable from amazon.functionality i give it 5 stars, gps signal 5 stars, wiring interface for a clean install 3 stars as the plugs are bulky serial plugs, and build quality of it overall is 4 star, minus the actual male plug for the cable to scanner connection, that one is 2 stars.over all would buy it all again as i just have lol, but wish the company would update the design and quality a bit 3Maybe Needed if Portable or Mobile The sheet of paper that comes with it leaves a lot to be desired and is an old version that doesn't specify BCD436HP or BCD536HP but works for both. The additional connector cable for the handheld comes with it so you don't need to buy it.It's an easier than expected setup with changing the GPS baud rate to 4800, making all the connections and applying external power to the GPS unit. You can set the scanner to to a different ZIP Code and once the GPS is locked in then it should automatically switch scan list. That last part is just to see it do so. You should see the GPS icon on the display and a blinking red LED on the GPS unit when it's working. I expected to do more but that was it.The cables can be an issue for some but you can wrap them up and out of the way to reduce clutter and clearance. If you're indoors you don't need it. You also won't need it if you're in the same vicinity most of the time. You could also live with changing ZIP codes when you get to your destination; it's more for those that want everything in-between traveling.I finally broke down on getting one when it hit around the $70 mark because I thought it was too pricey for what it does. 3Everything included to work on the BCD436HP Everything is included to work for the BCD436HP. Works right out of the box. My only complaints are there are a lot of wires this should be simplified for use on the 436. Also, the serial ports that plug together both have male screws, but they fit together fine, but if you wanted to secure the connection with the screws you would need an adaptor, but to clarify, this is not required. 4Works great, even when connected to two scanners I have two Uniden BCD996P2 scanners in my car. I bought one BC-GPSK unit and connected it to both scanners with a 9-pin serial Y-splitter. It works perfectly. Both scanners lock and unlock sites and groups just as I've programmed them.I always suspected that my car's speedometer was reading a few MPH too fast. The Uniden GPS receiver confirmed my suspicion. I pressed the GPS button on one of my scanners to see that my car's speedometer is off by approximately 7%. 5No extra cables needed As noted by several other buyers, this kit comes complete with all necessary cables to immediately connect to their scanners. Mine is a Uniden BCD436HP and everything plugged right in with cables long enough to fit any mobile application. Installation and use is largely intuitive. There were no specific instructions or diagrams but it is simple enough. Place the GPS receiver on the dash, connect all the cables, insert the appropriate plug into the scanner, and the power cord into the cigarette lighter and you are on your way. The set up has worked flawlessly for several weeks while being driven around surrounding states. 5Works Great for Uniden Homepatrol 1 Works great. At first I thought I received a defective product. But after letting the gps operate for about 10 minutes, it worked just fine on my Uniden Homepatrol 1 scanner. After the initial startup, the gps works instantaneously. So, if you get this gps, let it do it's thing for about 15 minutes or so. 4Highly recommend. Has everything you need to connect to your scanner. You don't need anything else - this is important because I waited a while to purchase it because it wasn't clear if anything else was needed. This and your scanner is it. 5Uniden BC-GPSK GPS Receiver This product is the key to good scanning. When I installed the GPS device in my car the scanner came alive. I was able to receive many more of my favorites after I installed the GPS.There is plenty of wire that comes with the unit and it connects all the wires together so the joints all are secure. The one problem on my vehicle is there is little metal to attach the magnet to so I had to create an anchor point for it. The GPS plugged in to the scanner securely and did not create any problems even though the wiring harness was heavy. The wires were not long enough to attach the GPS to the outside of the vehicle so I had to use 3m connectors to attach the wiring harness to the dash and run the wires in the dash. Be careful to place the GPS in open area of the car as one of the areas I first attached the disk it did not receive so I had to relocate it.there in no instructions that come with the GPS so I had to watch the you Tube video on how to install it. It is however quite easy, compared to the scanner set up. 5
