Customer Reviews

Great replacement for Honeywell Nstar or Winpak systems. As Nstar users know, the manufacturer no longer supports their equipment. I was looking for an inexpensive replacement for our system at the Elks Lodge. We wanted to be able to reuse the proximity cards already issued to members and not go through the expense and hassle of reissuing them. Our Nstar system is set up with HID readers. The UHPPOTE board is compatible with them. Instead of using only the 5-digit code printed on the old cards, the UHPPOTE also wants the 2-digit or 3-digit facility code. This code was already implanted in the old cards but had to be scanned by the UHPPOTE in order to read it. HID readers are not compatible with UHPPOTE proximity cards.I had to contact tech support to get the right software download site. But, after that, the software was easy to install and use. I just had to input 700 members into it. 5These boards are great. We have them providing door and electric gate ... We are in the process of swapping all of our access controls from a local alarm company to our own in house system. These boards are great. We have them providing door and electric gate access at several facilities. The software is included for free and can be used standalone or with an SQL back end. We have 5 PCs currently accessing the SQL database, it works great. 5Great controller, wrong software linked This unit comes exactly described in terms of functionality and usability. The board itself is well marked for each input/power/etc. Having removable plugs makes wiring it up very easy. Once I got everything configured, this unit worked exactly as expected.I gave this four stars because after configuring, it does work exactly correct. However, the directions contained within the box are less than helpful. The CD was unreadable and the website they reference does not contain the correct software in the English section. The correct software is "MJ_all_en" not "WG_all_en" as listed on their site. Although it is incorrect on paperwork, a quick search fill find the correct software.. Once I found the correct software, configuring this unit was easy. Note that there is no IP address on this device, but with the correct software it should be detected as long as it is connected to your network. I have included a few pictures showing the correct software that configures this product. The software has a little learning curve, but is relatively self explanatory. You find your controller, edit users and privileges and then upload that configuration to the controller. After that, you do not need to keep the software open as the controller works independently. As I said, this company should update their website with the correct software to begin with, but once everything is installed this product works exactly as described. 4Great Price... works well Purchased this unit May 10, 2016 easy to setup and wire. I actually used one of the four channels to restrict access to my elevator (I had to slightly modify the board by removing 20 some caps).Today 7/21/16 tried to make some modifications to the user list and access privileges and I get a popup stating that the evaluation period has expired. There are three things to fill in "Company Name", "Building Company", and "Register Code". Its on the original box so keep that! 5Great price, but poorly written document. Solid device. will buy it again if I have another project that comes up. Great price, but the instruction and software that comes with it doesn't help much. Software is written to run on windows which I had to reverse engineer the network communication and write my own program that runs on raspberry pi and totally disregard the internal user database. There is a lot of little things that you have to read from the comment and FAQ to get answers from. I wish they could just put those things in a document that will help with configuration and setup of this unit. Another thumbs up for them is the response. 4The fact that is stores the events on board and the software doesn't have to be running is awesome, I tested it while it was off This item is surprisingly versatile with the amount of options and features. First reader I hooked up was a standard proximity RFID reader, it worked with no problems. I then hooked up a keypad/proximity combo and with some trial and error was able to get it to work correctly as well ( make sure to go to the console and upload to the specific door. ) The web gui is simple but effective and the same goes for the mobile app ( IOS )The only draw back to the mobile app and the web gui is the lack of security, I would make too not give this information to everyone. The fact that is stores the events on board and the software doesn't have to be running is awesome, I tested it while it was off the network and it still stores the data with no issues, you simply need retrieve it with the software or the web gui. For the price it is simply worth it, I do suggest having some knowledge of how door access systems work when purchasing this item ( understanding relays, contacts, and the different types of prox technology )Good work 5It IS Professional. I am very skeptical when I see the word "professional" in the product name. However in this case it is very appropriate. The controller would be very relevant for a medium size company. The software is very impressive can handle many controllers simultaneously, with features such as zones, floors. departments etc. It even has time attendance feature in case you need it. This version of controller can handle two sensors and if you set it one on the entry side one on exit the software tacks the length of time users spend in the building and tells you whether someone is in the building at any moment of time. Please be aware that you have to install a secondary exit feature such as a push bar or an exit button to comply with the fire department requirements. The software can be set up to log the exits by the push button but naturally in this case you loose the ability to track users' exits. The English version does use some funny language though. but I find it pretty complete and well done. One thing to note: You need card readers sensors. I used this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AUB2RQ4?redirect=true&ref_=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_15The instructions say connect white or yellow wire to a specific pin on the board. In my case when I connected white the controller pretended working, beeped on card swipes but refused to recognize them. When i switched to use the yellow wire everything started working normally. The bottom line: I am impressed with the controller and hope the reliability wold stand to the "professional" name.. . 5Great value, works well This is an update based on using this for some time. I've changed my rating to three stars instead of four, because the software is just absolutely horrendous with zero support. Currently, we're unable to get it to create any open/close reports at all. No matter what is selected, no activity shows in the report. You can see it in the log, but can't export it. We also can't open the DB file directly either, it has a password. So basically the actual control works just fine, reporting is totally useless. Oh, and every few months we get an error and have to reinstall the software.Original review:This is a very good controller. I'm comparing it to a couple of name-brand systems I'm familiar with, and it compares pretty well.Obviously, the hugest advantage is the price. This costs around 1/8th of the price of the cheapest two-door kits from major companies. And it's not just the cost of the system, but the name-brand kits force you to buy only their cards/fobs instead of industry-standard cards and fobs. They typically cost four times more, and limit your choices to whatever they make. For example, this is replacing a Securakey system that doesn't allow for any stick-on tags at all, and their cards cost over $2 each while I can get industry-standard ISO 14443 cards for 30 cents each.Setup was pretty easy. While the hardware documentation isn't great, it's clear enough to figure out the connections in a few minutes. I had the controller running and reading cards in about 15 minutes. The software installs easily. The documentation for the software is VERY bad, just awful, but luckily the software itself works just fine and is easy to figure out. Actually, it's more intuitive than the name-brand stuff I'm familiar with. There is also an "extended mode" with extra features that you can enable with the passcode "5678" that adds useful things like time-based access control. The software auto-discovers the device on the network and instantly configures it. Unlike most major systems that force you to pre-program them with a serial device.Cons... There is no internal battery backup. Not a big deal, as you have to provide backup for your maglocks anyway, so we put everything on a 1500va UPS. The board ships by itself without a case, so you can buy a simple plastic project box for it or pick up a standard wall-mount equipment box on Amazon for $27. That's what I did. Cheap solution. The software works, but the vendor says there will never be upgrades available for it. So there is some risk that future versions of Windows won't work with it. Not a big deal for us, as we run virtual machines and will just leave this running on a VM with Windows server 2008 forever.Overall I highly recommend this. Pair it up with any Wiegand-24 readers and any maglocks for a full system. I picked up a cheap wall-mount power supply here on Amazon to power this, and $20 card readers that work with Mifare/NFC cards which are dirt cheap. So my total system price for a couple of doors was about $400, where a comparable Securakey system puts you around $1300. 3Very useful accessory.. If you buy the control board you need this too, no question Absolutely necessary with any access control system. Closing the two input contacts automatically unlocks all doors, very useful as a safety feature or simply an override if youre having an open house day. Activating the advanced features in the software also allow the 4 relays to send a trigger signal for a large variety of uses, this board is more than just a fire safety bypass, it allows a output for a whole list of conditions. Door propped open, lock forced, and many more. Worth every penny and a absolute must have. Powered from the board pins and needs no additional power source, but you do have to activate advanced features in the software to use its full potential. Otherwise its just a manual override to hold all doors open 5Frustating at the beginning but nice customer service. There was no way to make it discovereable by the computer, tried conecting it directly (RJ45) to a PC, thru the local network, thru the wlan, but no luck with any of those, there a no guides on internet, the provided software has more than a decade, I waste my time, a technician which I hired time and a lot of money. I have already wrote the seller for help, hope I be able to come back soon with good news updating the review, but for now I do not reccommended even if you are a technician with knowledge about wires and networks.***UPDATE***I contacted seller, they made all they can to help me, it has been one of the better experience in customer service I have ever had, now almost everything is working like a charm, but now I am sure they will help me have the best experience with their product, I highly reccomend them, would be useful if they ship the board with a few more instructions 4
