Customer Reviews

Great power strip, but they need to pack it differently.. This is a GREAT power strip, and I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.. well made and a nice long cord.. I'm just taking off one star because as it comes, the power strip comes out of the cardboard box, which I then promptly threw away, only to find out later that the mounting hardware must have still been attached somehow to the inside of the box, rather than to the strip itself.. After reading the reviews, others seem to be happy with the included hardware, so just make sure you don't do what I did ( I was in a rush, after a move) and accidentally throw it away.. It would be better if they would have zip-tied the hardware bag to the cord so this couldn't happen. Additionally, the body of the strip COULD be made to have little slots in it, so I could just hang it on nails and be done, but it is just one solid aluminum extrusion. I know it was probably my mistake - I have no reason to believe I didn't throw out the mounting, but it wouldn't take much for them to correct the problem.. That being said, Tripp Lite makes great stuff, and this is no exception. 4Very good power strip outlet. Hard to find one with 20 sockets all in one row. Great for many needs and uses. The Tripp Lite 20 outlet Bench & Cabinet Power Strip was a very good purchase. It is 60 inches long. It is well constructed and very solid. The strip can be wall mounted with included mounting brackets. It has a sturdy all-metal extruded aluminum housing. The power strip has a toggle on/off switch that is lighted, and the power switch has a clear flip cover to protect it. There are 20 receptacle sockets, and they are equally spaced along the power strip. The sockets are standard US 3-prong sockets. The sockets are nice and tight. You have to push to insert the power plug into the socket which is nice. They are very firm. They are 120V AC receptacles. The power strip has a very long thick power cord. The power cord measures approximately 15 feet in length. The power strip has a 15 amp circuit breaker. This is a wonderful power strip. I was looking hard to locate one that hand enough outlets and was long in a single strip. I found it on Amazon and at a fairly good price. If you have Amazon Prime, the 2-day Free shipping is very nice. This is great for workshops or aquarium set-ups or toy train set-ups. It is good for any situation where you will have a lot of power cords. in one area.I purchased one for under my entertainment stand cabinet so I could easily plug-in all the power cords from various different audio and video electronics as well as my cable box, modem and phone. It made it so easy. I twist-tied up each cable to shorten their lengths, and everything is very neat with nothing tangled or mixed up.I definitely recommend this power strip. It is available from Tripp Lite in various strip lengths and in various outlet quantity. 5Awesome! I love these large, commercial power bars, and this one is my favorite so far. I also own a generic one I got at home depot, and one from a company called Prime that I picked up at Orchard Supply Hardware, but this Tripp Lite PS4816 16-Outlet Power Strip 15-Amp, 15-Foot Cord is by far the coolest.1) Tons of outlets. 16 on a single strip! I'm a huge computer nerd, running a full tower, three displays, five gazillion external drives & various and sundry accessories.2) More organized cords! Endlessly chaining traditional power strips together is both tiresome and unsightly. This keeps everything on a single strip.3) Mountable. I see from other reviewers that some don't receive mounting hardware, but I did and it works great. I screwed mine into the underside of my desk surface, and it really helps to hide the clutter and makes it easier to clean the floor.4) Very tight sockets. This is actually an advantage. Since my strip is mounted under the surface of the desk, power cords, bricks, etc., some of them quite heavy, are all dangling from the bar. The tight fit of the sockets holds them lock-solid.5) Well constructed. It feels like a quality piece of hardware. The power switch is inside a flip-cap that prevents you from accidentally bumping it off. The cord is heavy - feeling more like a quality power tool than a regular extension cord. There's only one thing I would change. I wish the individual sockets were rotated 90 . It would be a bit non-standard, but the advantage would be that most power bricks would stick out to the side rather than block the adjacent socket. (If you get a strip with fewer sockets, you'd probably have enough space between each that it wouldn't matter so much.)I paired this strip with a product from Ikea called "signum," and it keeps all my cables tucked tightly under the rear surface of my desk, with nothing dangling on the floor or down the wall. This setup works so well, I got a second one for my girlfriend and she's out posting pictures of it all over the web. 5POWER TO THE PEOPLE... This strip gets it done. There is really nothing to dislike about this power strip in that it offers limited surge protection and LOTS of outlets. Also the power cable is HUGE and long enough to allow for many applications. Today everything has it huge block transformer and each outlet is spaced far enough part so that every weird shaped transformer block can be easily accommodated. The construction material is of very good quality. The build quality is very good suggesting it should function as needed for a long time. The price was in line with the value. Shipping was fast and packaging was good. 5Fantastic! While building a new rolling desk to hold much of my amateur radio equipment, I wanted outlets on the desk itself. I bought two of these, one to go along the back just below the desktop, another to go along an attached shelf which sits above the desktop. The way the desk and shelf are constructed, both power strips are out of sight but easily accessible by reaching behind or pulling the desk out. I finally have enough outlets! The quality seems good. I like these power strips! The cord was much longer than needed, but I shortened it and installed a new plug. ***CAUTION: Don't try this at home!*** ...but... I found these strips could be shortened without harming function or appearance. Yes, I did... removing one outlet from each so it is the same length as the desk width. DO NOT under any circumstances modify anything electrical unless you know what you are doing, and then do so AT YOUR OWN RISK. 5A dream come true I was very impressed with this. It is solidly made, and has a ridiculous approximately FOURTEEN FOOT power cord on it. You could just about plug this thing in at the neighbor's house if you wanted to. LOLI bought this to make one situation at my house more manageable. In our family room I have:1. All the home theater stuff (TV, amp, satellite tuner, blu ray, DVD jukebox, DVD player/recorder, turntable, tape deck, CD player, and sub woofer. It used to be worse, I used to also have a WD media server box, but now both the TV and blu ray player do that for me.2. Then there is the computer stuff: my computer, my wife's computer, router, cable modem, laser printer, ink jet printer, UPC, 8 port switch, two monitors for me, one monitor for my wife.3. Next, there are the recharging needs: power for the Kindles, power for the iPad, power for the iPhone, power for my wife's smart phone, power for her camera recharger.4. Finally, there are the normal household needs: lamp, phone with power supply. There are a few other occasional needs (Christmas lights, other battery recharging, Pocket PC cradle (still needed for one older system I maintain for one client), plugging in notebook computers, for example). Most of this happens along the front wall of the room, behind the TV stand, the component cabinet, the printer stand, and my computer desk. The power cord situation back there is a nightmare (and a few network cables are running around there for good measure as the TV, blu ray, and satellite tuner, laser printer, and both computers all get network cables). The wiring and power cord situation back there is a nightmare with the power cords depending on an obscene number of six outlet power strips, most of which cannot be fully utilized because of the number of plugs that are blocks instead of simple plugs.* This gets rid of all those 6 outlet strips.* It is long enough to bridge the area between the computer related power needs and the AV related power needs.* The wide spacing between the outlets means that there are no "wasted outlets". All of the power block style plugs have plenty of room to fit without covering another outlet. While this strip is a bit pricy in the fifty dollar range, I don't know that it costs any more than the accumulated cost of all the power strips it replaces, especially when you consider that those strips are not efficiently used because the power block style plugs prevent using all six outlets on most of them. The only lack I found with the product is that I would have liked to see it include some built in facility to attach mounting brackets.to get it up off the floor. That would be especially helpful if I wanted to get a slightly shorter version of this to mount on the back side of our kitchen island, just under the counter edge.Highly recommended. 5Taming the plug-strip / extension cord nightmare Bought this to solve a shortage of outlets for my wife's sewing table. With lights, laptop, sewing machines, sergers, etc., her sewing room had become a jungle of extension cords and plug strips.Works as advertised. Only problem was it arrived without the wall mounting clips mentioned in the user instructions. Called Tripp Lite customer service and they shipped me a new mounting kit. Arrived about 10 days later.Install took about an hour total. After locating 4 wall studs, I used the plug strip itself as a ruler, along with a level, to draw a line on the wall, and used the provided screws to screw the 4 mounting clips to the wall. Still had a bit of a problem with the exact alignment of the clips, which is crucial to getting them to work, til I once again used the plug strip like a ruler. I held it to the wall again and loosened the two outside clips, allowing them to drop a bit, but more importantly, true themselves up with the plug strip. I then tightened these clips again, pressed the plug strip against them as a reference, and did the same trick with the two remaining clips. With a bit of force, the plug strip snapped securely into all 4 clips, and it was done.A huge improvement. No way we'll ever fill up all 20 outlets, but having spares is reassuring. 4One of life's little pleasures is having enough outlets, right where you need them. These are great! One of the highest density plug strips I've found, along with being well made. The 15' cord is a little excessive, but generally it is a good problem to have. Beats having a 3' cord that one must immediately add an extension cord to. Technically that is against NEC, so if you are using this in an environment where you have a code compliance person on staff then you'll be happy to have the long cord. If you don't mind wrecking the UL certification, cut the cord to length and put a right-angle plug on the end, such as a Leviton 8215-CAT. Those are great to make things tidy and reduce chances of the cord getting knocked out of the wall. That particular style of right-angle plug allows you to have the cord come out of the connector at most any angle, which can be convenient for all sorts of reasons. Tip: If you do decide to use such plugs, read and follow the instructions for prepping the conductors carefully. The conductors will vary in length depending on the angle you select for the cord to emerge, and if you don't carefully cut them, you'll never get the cover on.Most of the big-box strips of this sort have sockets of poor quality. These seem robust and like they will hold up well over time. The only strips I've found with better receptacles are of the WireMold / PlugMold brand. But they don't make any strips with this kind of density. It would be nice as another reviewer observed, to have the outlets rotated 90'. It would help prevent collisions when trying to plug in lots of wall warts. As it is, having so many outlets means it is fairly easy to move cords and warts around to make them all fit. If this still presents problems for you, search Amazon for "power strip liberators".The mounting clips can be positioned anywhere along the strip, which is handy. Easy and non-critical placement makes mounting a cinch. Attach the clips to the strip, hold against the surface, mark the edges of the clips, then remove and mount the clips. The covered switch is nice, and the illuminated status is visible even with the cover closed. Finally the pricing, especially for a product of this quality, is great.Negatives? The 90' outlet issue is about the only one I can come up with. If you must have receptacles oriented differently, check out Tripp Lite's PS3612RA. Downside is fewer receptacles, and much more expensive! Oh, and to paraphrase H. Ford: You can have any color you want as long as it's silver.Throw one under your desk, behind your entertainment center, on the back and under the front edge of your bench (amazingly handy strategy on a bench to keep cords from crisscrossing all over the place).Great product, great price. 5Bye-bye outlet clutter! Our house was built in 1930 when people were sure that most rooms didn't need more than one or two electrical outlets. Thus the area under my computer desk (which includes two computers, two monitors, a set of powered speakers, two powered hubs, four external hard drives and a desk lamp) was a rat's nest of power strips and plugs. I had been trying to figure out how to clean it up for a long time. It finally dawned on me that one long power bar would solve the problem. I knew Tripp Lite was a highly respected brand so I bought this. I got more outlets than I needed, just in case. After a lot of unplugging and untangling I got everything neatly arranged under my desk, and wow, what a difference. Wish I hadn't taken so long to figure it out! 5What I don't like already about this item is the pictures provided to ... Usually one writes a review after you receive the product. I have ordered two of this item. What I don't like already about this item is the pictures provided to show you what you are getting. The picture showing the strip is so far away from the product that you can't tell weather the plugs are vertical or horizontal. I bought them hoping they are verticle, but I'lll keep em even if the plugs are horizontal because it's too much of a hassle returning them, but they won't get a five star from me if they are the direction I didn't want. Lousy picture of what is the most important part of the operation. I like the spacing but if you have to go horizontal your plug cords are hitting the plugs below them. 3
