Customer Reviews

but it does work better than the other 3 less expensive ones I've tried Pricey for a wireless add-on device, but it does work better than the other 3 less expensive ones I've tried. I have an AC router, you may as well take advantage of the speeds and spring for an AC wireless adapter. right? I suppose. I am disappointing in the connection speeds of the 5ghz. I understand the 5ghz doesn't have the ranged 2.4 does, but I found the 5ghz to be unusable for streaming 1080HD (it works fine streaming 720 though). My home is just a small ranch too. That said, the 2.4ghz works quite well. I have tried N150, N300 and N600 wireless cards and none of them would stream 1080HD flawlessly. The signals were always off and on on the "N" cards too.. Thus far, zero problems what so ever with this Trendnet AC wireless card; so money well spend despite still using old school 2.4ghz. 4Very Solid Wireless Card for Desktops This is a very solid wireless card. I have two of them. One runs on a Windows 7 Pro machine, and the other runs on a Windows 8.1 machine. Both were installed by letting Windows Update find and install the drivers. Both show speeds of up to 500 Mbps, which is what my wireless router is rated for. I have used them for several months now with zero issues. Very happy camper here. 5... antennae they are a bit flimsy and can be easily broken or over tighten Be careful with the antennae they are a bit flimsy and can be easily broken or over tighten. If you have never installed an wireless adapter before you might want to look up a How To video, because the ridiculous (3" x 5" piece of paper) pictorial instructions are completely useless. I had no problems with installation, I've installed PCIe equipment before, computer recognized the new equipment. The signal is strong and steady, but the computer I put this adapter in is close to the router. 3I'm sure it's good, but... It's always hard to give computer hardware reviews b/c there are so many variables that can affect you're performance, but my personal experience with this is just okay. The reception I got with this was pretty bad, but I'm sure that has more to do with my older router and house layout. Like I said, hard to say with these kinds of things. I'm sure the product works perfectly fine, but my personal experience was less than desirable. If you're hoping this will boost your wifi range compared to an older card/router config you have, it won't. I ended up just running ethernet cable through out my 2 story house instead. Must happier with that :D 3Not So Good It stop working within 7 days of installing it. The Link or status light is on but will no longer receive any WiFi. I also had a difficult time getting it to connect to AC WiFi above 85mbs. I finally got it to about 520mbs by setting my router to 80mghz bandwidth. Not very dependable, I would look further. The software does not have any special tool other than the driver itself. I would rather have the choice. 1Good signal but no 5ghz Worked fairly well for a while on Windows 10. However the moment I try to use it for anything heavier than browsing it starts to chug, and ever since a large download its been dropping connections at random and often running exceptionally poorly with huge packet loss.In addition; I can only detect and connect to 2.5ghz band networks, 5ghz don't show up at all. This is using both the windows-supplied drivers and when I forced windows to use the drivers supplied from the trendnet website for this adapter. 1This thing works great. I bought this and the Asus AC68 together ... This thing works great. I bought this and the Asus AC68 together to compare to each other. Can't really tell the difference... Unless you're using this for point-to-point, this is a great price...Windows 10 recognizes this card, however, only 2.4GHz is enabled. You have to install their driver to enable the 5GHz band. 5Keep looking I'd look further. Even with updated drivers, this thing drops connections regularly and will not connect at random. Replaced it with another brand and haven't had any issues since.Running fully updated Windows 10 and very modern PC build. Speed was excellent when it worked! It had no problem with Windows 7.Three stars, since I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt... Maybe mine was not 100% functional for some reason. 2Randomly drops 5GHz connections and takes forever to connect This uses the same Realtek 8812AU chipset as the Netis WF2190, and I experienced the same exact issue with both devices. It takes a long time to connect, and when connected it will just randomly drop connections. And it doesn't just disconnect, it fails to be recognized as a valid device at all by the operating system until I manually disable and re-enable from Device Manager. There is a serious defect in this chipset when working with 5GHz networks. You should not purchase this device or any other device using this chipset. 1Short lived Bought the first one back in December. Worked good and speed and signal strength was great. All of the sudden while using the pc I lost connection to the network. I checked the status in device manager and it reported the card did not exist. Tried reinstalling, moving to a different pci slot, nothing worked. It was dead. I was outside the return window, but figured that I just got a defective unit and decided I would just purchase another one. I just received this one. Install went through without a hitch and I was able to get connected to the network. After a few minutes the computer just froze with no response. I rebooted and it came up with no issues. Then I attempted to run a speed test, as soon as I started that it froze again. Tried several times and everytime it would lock up. I removed the card and tried usb wifi adapter and had no issues. To sum it up, 1st one died within 4 months. Replacement I just received would cause the pc to lock up. Sent back for refund, not going to try a third one. 1
