Customer Reviews

No issues so far All ports function properly and through put is as expected. I tested all all 16 ports and found all to be working as advertised. the only issue that may never be addressed is the double stack of ports is difficult to manage cables due to how close they are, this is an issue for those of us with larger fingers and our fat little meat hooks dont work well in middle section of ports. 5So annoying! Regularly have to power cycle switch to fix a stuck switch port I have to regularly have to power cycle switch to fix a stuck switch port causing the Xbox One X connected to it on the other end to lose connectivity. When the port becomes stuck, the switch will show GREED LED for the port. Oddly it seems to happen only with the XBox One X. No other devices seem to be affected that are also connected to the switch. Also this same XBox was used for over year on my old switch and I never had this issue. I've tried changing ports, changing Ethernet cables, power cycling the switch and the XBox, but the issue always returns! Oddly, if I try unplugging the ethernet cable when the issue appears, the port LED REMAINS LIT and GREEN!? So the only solution I found was to power cycle it and this can be 5-10 times a day! So annoying! 1OK device, does the job but some glitches with connectivity on certain ports Pros: Does an OK job and the price was right. Attractive design though quite large. I like the power & ports in the back and lights in the front, a design that only a couple of the 16-port makers seem to use (many of them put the power in back and the ports in front).Cons: It's BIG. Much larger than a similar D-link 16-port Gigabit switch I have. Also, connectivity with some devices has been an issue. I have a QNAP NAS with dual LAN ports/link aggregation that was inaccessible on several occasions. I switched out LAN cables, didn't help. Moved it to another switch, and it started working. I never had an issue with this QNAP connecting on my Netgear switch.Put another device on the same LAN ports, worked fine for a while then was inaccessible. Pulled power and rebooted the TRENDnet switch and everything was suddenly fine, so it was a switch issue. I tried the QNAP again, and the issue happened again, so I haven't reconnected it to this switch. Other devices work OK since rebooting on the same port. So far no further issues and the other ports on the device seemed unaffected.I have another of these switches that has had no issues, and have never seen this behavior in my older Netgear or DLink switches. Would probably not buy again despite the good deal. 3It's a good affordable 16 port switch. Needed a 16 port switch in a hurry. Ordered this and got it two days later. It was replacing the metal version of the same unit that was hit by lightning. This unit has a plastic case, and feels much less substantial. Before putting it in service, I noticed that something inside was clearly rattling around. Somehow during the manufacturing process, a broken heatsink retaining clip was installed, and had come free. I would have returned it, but I needed a switch, so I had to fix it myself. After it was fixed, and the switch was put in service, it's functioned perfectly. Normally I'd give it 5 stars, but dinged this one 2 stars because of lack of QC during manufacturing. 3TRENDnet, Still good quality and easy to use switches. I brought this to replace an Airlink 8 port 1GB switch that was currently being used as my Garage/Home Office Switch due to needing more open ports. Having brought A TRENDnet switch before (TEG-S16DG, 1GB X 16 ports, metal case) It was pretty much a no brainier, the only difference between this model and the one I brought previously is it's plastic instead of metal and the port indicator are on the front instead of both the port indicator and ports being all in the back. It makes the switch easier to place when both things are on different ends of the switch. As with the TEG-S16DG model it is about the most straight forward device you could ever buy. No software to load, No configuration changes to be made, and best of all No assembly required. Just take out of the box, plug it in the wall of were you are going to permanently place it, connect your compatible CAT 5E or CAT 6 Network Devices to the switch, and your done. It has a LED Front panel that tells you when your Network Device is connected & which port (If it's Amber your connected at 10/100mps and green your connected at 1gps) and the Ethernet ports are located directly on the back. The absolute best thing about this device is the price. For the Quality, sturdy construction, and ease of use of this device I've seen other name brands goes as high as $200 Bones, 6 years ago I paid approximatily a $110 for the TEG-S16DG, and now as of this writing it just around $60.I would highly recommend this device not only for home and small office but for you medium to big businesses as well. 5It's faster, lighter, and less power hungry I had an old 10/100 rack mount switch as the backbone of my network, which worked reasonably well. Though my wife would occasionally complain about the speed of the Internet, even though our Internet connection is only like 75Mpbs download. We both have noticed a huge bump in network performance when I swapped it out for the TRENDnet 16-Port GREENnet Switch. Transferring Gigabytes of data from one computer to another takes seconds now, Internet is more responsive even with 2 devices streaming, a VPN connection, surfing the Internet all while phones and tablets are connected to the wifi router. It's faster, lighter, and less power hungry then my old switch. 5Very happy with it! For the most part, a switch either works or it doesn't and this one works. I dumped data from one RAID 0 to another through this switch and I don't remember the exact throughput but it was well north of 900 Gbps so that's good. I like that the lights on the front tell me which ports are at gigabit versus megabit. Other than that, I haven't had to fuss with it. I have it mounted on the side of a bookcase. Here's a picture with a banana for scale. It is a physically large device. 5Love these Gigabit switches because I have AT&T Gigapower service Love these Gigabit switches because I have AT&T Gigapower service. They deliver IP TV over Multi-cast (IGMPv3). With a lot of other switches, particularly Linksys, they freak out when interfacing with IGMPv3 traffic. These TRENDnet switches advertise 802.1p quality of service support, which must work well with Multi-cast because as I have phased out my older Linksys switches, they work great and haven't had any issues with multi-cast. 4Perfect, low priced, 16-port switch for a desktop I have used TRENDnet 8-port gigabit switches for about 5 years and I currently have 4 of them that have been very reliable, so I went looking at TRENDnet when I had an 8-port switch in my home office, but needed 9 ports. My 8-port switches are metal and I was hoping to find a metal 16-port switch also, which I did, but 16-port switches all seem to put the Ethernet connections up front and since I was using it as a desktop switch, I wanted them in the back.I decided to give this one a go and it works well. It is a little light and made of plastic, but it does the job for not much money and it has wall mounting holes. So if you are looking for a 16-port gigabit switch for a desktop or one that you can mount and has all of the port and power connection on the same side, this is your switch. 4Do Not Buy This Product I had this switch 1 month when the Gigabit connections started dropping. After 2 months this unit died completely. Getting an RMA through their tech support took more time than the product is worth. This device is cheaply made. It's true you get what you pay for. I purchased a NetGear switch to replace this piece of junk.To Update: After three days I got an answer to my RMA request. They want me to pay the shipping to return their defective piece of junk what are you kidding me? What a lousy company. I am going to cut my loses and just throw the switch in the garbage (which is what I'm sure TrendNet counts on by making their RMA process so impossible to deal with). Do Not Buy This Device!!! 1
