    spiritual fictionIf you aren't yet familiar with Mare Corelli, this is a wonderful book to introduce her. She is known for her Life Everlasting and other books on reincarnation and the supernatural in religion. This book, however, is about finding real friendship and love. A rich old man looks back on his life and realizes he has never been loved for himself. Posing as a poor man, he decides to go on a quest for a true friend. This book is full of beauty, passion, the heights and depths of human experience. Her descriptions of nature as usual are thrilling to me as I am a nature lover. 5Great bookLove this book. I have found the free romance novels from Amazon Kindle store to all be good reading and I do love to read. 5Two StarsWeird! 2Wonderful Descriptions of Beauty in Nature; Touching ThemeCorelli illustrates in page-turning detail the inner musings of a sensitive millionaire's last year of life when he finds he has no one deserving to leave his money to, and sets off to find someone who can appreciate him for himself and who is not trying to insinuate themselves into his life for some kind of personal gain. Corelli is almost exasperated with the spiritual densities of society people and expresses that through some of the characters the rich-man-trying-to-seem-poor meets along his way. It's well worth reading and draws some lovely pictures of scenery along the English coast. The plot is not so exciting; I found myself tiring of the long descriptions, lovely as they are, because they slowed the unfolding of the simple plot toward the end. 4Great book!There is nothing better then to be reminded that Love is the only treasure to be gained in this life! 5Got for free thanksGot for free thanks 3Uncorrupting RichesI found this book somewhat unbelievable although it is a good story. A rich mam becomes poor in order to discover the secret to true happiness. He finds sincere loving people among the poorest of the poor. His happiness is realized in the kindness of an not quite so old, old maid who tenderly cares for him during a long illness without any expectation of renumeration. His identity is never revealed until his will is read which in a twist of fate brings misery rather than happiness to his two faithful friends. I did not like the ending although it did turn outwell. The fact that such a woman would harm herself just did not fit with her character in the story. Love that is selfish is not love and must be exemplified in all aspects of life. 4
