    Great bible with understanding for all yet no truth of God s messages removed; pink great for girls Bought this as a gift for my daughter. She could understand it better and yet it had real verses. A simpler more broken down from original real Greek and Hebrew language so the Bible can be understood in a different way-the culture back then, languages, etc., but the message of what was being said not changed at all. The truth of what was written in those languages. When One Greek Word is broken down it might mean something you totally didn t really understand it to mean thereby reading it in a simpler form allows the reader to absorb the real message. She enjoyed it until her next bible, a more in depth version, building on that knowledge. 5lovely cover and we'll done interior This is a beautiful bible. The font is good size (some MSG versions tend to be very small font). Also the pages are a decent thickness. I have found many MSG versions have such thin pages that the text from the other side bleeds through making it hard to read. This Bible does not have that issue. You will not regret purchasing! 5Divine Message Comes Through Loud and Clear in the Language of Today Although this is considered a paraphrase of the Good Book, Peterson is a remarkable Bible scholar and writer. He takes familiar, and not-so-familiar, verses and breathes new life into them by using the language of today. As I've been growing in my faith, I've started reading different translations of the Bible aside from the NIV. I find that each translation has its own unique quirks that really make them fun to read. I believe that The Message is Eugene Peterson's modern day rendition of the Bible, written in terms that we can understand ourselves. I feel that it makes the Word of God very accessible to the everyday person. I bought this Bible to give to my 22 year old brother, who did not grow up attending church and did not really have a good understanding of Biblical stories. I felt that had I given him the NIV or the ESV, he probably would've given up on reading it because he doesn't have the theological background that those of us who grew up in church possess.Hopefully he'll be able to search for the Lord in the pages of this. 5Super Convenient! Love the size! can carry it everywhere I go. I got this version of the bible so that I can share with friends and family and for my bullet journaling obsession. It is super convenient when I'm short on time since it enables faster reading. It offers a section for themes/topics, maps, prophet's insight, and more. I love the way it's layed out, I find it easier to read. Only downside would be that the pages are fairly thin so when highlighting a passage it doesn't really go through the other side; however, it is quite visible from the other side of the page (I'll include some pictures as reference) I don't mind it at all (I'm currently using Japanese Midliner Highlighters). English is my second language so it becomes quite a challenge to fully understand KJV. My current version of the bible is RV1960 which would be the Spanish version of KJV. I tend to place The Message and RV1960 side by side to get a fuller, deeper understanding of God's word. 5GOD'S WORD IN OUR LANGUAGE This is quickly becoming my favorite Bible. You can "teach an old dog new tricks." I am turning 72 in a week & I love to find new things that inspire me that are so inexpensive. This is a winner. It is suitable for all ages. I love it and I read it everyday! You will not go wrong. This is a great quote:...The way -to God-is vigorous and requires your total attention. A lot of you are going to assume that you'll sit down to God's salvation banquet just because you've been hanging around the neighborhood all your lives! Well, one day you're going to banging on the door, wanting to get in, but you'll find the door locked and the Master saying, "Sorry, you're not on my guest list." Luke 13:24 5Portable size hardcover that is not too heavy. I think the book size is perfect if you want portability and light weight. As with all bibles it's a balancing act between size and readability. Type is small, around a 9 or 10 font size but for me it's readable. They have more or less lined up the type so it's a bit cleaner to read on thin pages. This has a hardcover so the pages are better protected than with a soft cover and even with a hardcover it doesn't seem very heavy so I'm happy with the way they made this bible. It is not too big so I won't hesitate to bring it along with me to read. There is no red letter text though and I imagine part of it is to both keep down costs and maybe because of the nature of the translation being more story like. Personally I like the translation but some may prefer the more majestic feel of King's language in the King James Version. I am happy with this bible. 5Love the translation...not so crazy about the book... First off, I love this translation...as others have stated, it does read like a story. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is thinking about or beginning to give their lives to God. It's easy to read, very simple but enjoyable and gets "The Message" across.However, the book is small...honestly, I didn't pay attention to the dimensions when I purchased it and I just assumed it was a standard size book but it's on the small side-which is okay I guess. If you look at other variations of this book, the dimensions are around the same size...When you flip open the pages, the print is so small. I am able to read it, but I would prefer it to be a tad larger. {A large print version is available btw} Also, the pages are thin and very see through. I wouldn't feel okay high lighting or making notes inside this book. *I uploaded pictures so you can see what I'm talking about*The bottom line is, yes I would recommend it based on the translation...perhaps some changes can be made to the pages in later versions. Happy reading! 4Now I Understand the Scriptures! I watched Mr Peterson and Bono on UTube and it was gripping. How kind and wonderful he is, and his lovely bride. He has a brilliant mind and a warm smile. I encourage you to watch it. I love the message by Eugene H. Peterson. Easy to read and in language I can relate. When I read the scriptures from this book it gives such an understanding, like an AHA! Thank you Mr Peterson for reaching out to us and giving the language we understand. I only speak for myself but many Bibles speak in old english, well I dont speak it and being Jesus was Jewish, I dont think he spoke in Old English either. I would pass this book on as a gift, it would make an interesting gift. 5
