    One StarThe adhesive is a failure on a redwood fence. The alarm works sparsdically.1Not for outdoor use, and not designed for a gate eitherThe design of this product is more for indoor than outdoor...despite it being advertised for outdoor gate type use. The sensor for the gate is not to be screwed in, but to be stuck on with an adhesive strip. How long did they expect the sticky strip to last outdoors in rain, snow, humidity? Gates move, they are not constantly in zero motion as a window sensor can assume. Gates move due to wind for example, they all have a little "give" which this sensor doesn't take into account and turns siren on within 1 mm of movement. Disappointing, could not use outdoors or for a gate as intended.1It did not work on our gate as we have ...It did not work on our gate as we have a chain link fence. It would have saved us money and aggravation if that would have been made clear in the ad. It was also supposed to cover two gates and only came with equipment for one.1Many Incomplete/Bad Designs But Might Work for Some SitutationsThe description says you can control the volume and sound/ring type. That ONLY applies to main unit and not gate unit, which has a very annoying and very loud buzzer sound. If that is in the description somewhere it is not obvious.If there had been any controls for the gate unit sound we may have made this work. My wish list control for the gate unit is a simple off switch so the gate unit makes no sound and only the main unit sound off, which is what I thought the product did.Also, regarding the outdoor use, it seems like it would work but we didn't get that far. It comes with both sticky tape and mounting screws, so I would think keeping it in place should work. The unit looks sealed enough to take some rain.Another item is the delay button - it's a bad design. In order to use the delay you have to press a button which would be a really difficult if you had anything in you hands, needed to open a gate, and also have 7 seconds to get through. You can't just set the unit to always delay which is what I wanted.If you don't mind the loud buzzer on the gate, don't need the delay feature, and have an covered outdoor gate area, this is the product for you!1How to silence the gate sensor audible alarm - once you do its a decent productLike many folks I did not like the fact that you cannot switch off the audible alarm on the gate sensor box, but it was only $15 and I decided to take a chance on opening it up and "fixing" it. So, for the rest of you here's the deal...Unscrew the six screws around the edge of the gate sensor (NOT the screws for the battery compartment and where the sensor wire enters the device).Pull the unit apart gently and no more than you have to (say about 1cm or half and inch).Look at the top part behind where the dome is for the speaker and you will see two wires going to it - one to the edge and another to the center.Slide a small pair of scissors (sewing scissors/swiss army) in and just snip that one going to the center.Carefully press the unit back together and screw it up.JOB DONE. You now have a silent gate sensor.So far this does not appear to impact any of the functionality in setting off the remote alarm unit.Now it works the way I want it is a reasonably good product, but it could be vastly improved and I'm dropping them a star for not using a simple 10 cent switch to allow you to silence the gate unit.4
