    Sunon 40X40mm fan I purchased 4 of these items along with Coolerguys Programmable Thermal Fan Controller with LED Display so as to be able to provide cooling for my large 27"monitor. I was very pleased to find that the fans did not have a loud operating sound and have provided excellent air flow for cooling. I mounted the fans on the top rear vents of the monitor such that they pull hot air out of the monitor. I have always found that pulling hot air out cools better thatn trying to blow cooler ambient air in. 5Great fans, not quiet but they move air I bought these to help cool my delta printers NEMA17 steppers. I attached them to some uxcell Aluminium 40 x 40 x 11mm Square Heatsinks (which they sell here in a 10 pack). They have been working great and my steppers now run cool. I would not characterize these as quiet fans, but they are also not loud for the air they move. They have been running for hours on end and so far no strange noises, and my experience with this brand has been good in the past. 5Fan is working good after changing cable position at connector Fan is working good after changing cable position at connector.It comes withou any screws and the Dell Power connect 2748 ones don't fit.Fan LED at front pane should be green all the time, but it turns red sometimes.Red indicates fan stopped, but the SUNON fans are working, that probably means that the fan power is different from DELL original. 3I bought this to replace my noctua fan that I ... I bought this to replace my noctua fan that I bought to replace the original fan that came with the 3d printer. My printer kept on clogging and assembling/disassembling the extruder, I changed the extruder cooling fan to this one instead. Bit louder than noctua fan but a lot stronger than noctua fan but ever since I changed it I never had a single clog. 5Awesome, high output fan in a tiny package Awesome, high output fan in a tiny package!I bought these to cool some LSI RAID controllers, and they work great. I wasn't concerned with noise, since they were all going into a server rack, but these aren't super loud, given the size and CFM rating. And given my past experience with this product line, I don't anticipate having to replace any of these fans before replacing the servers themselves. 5Newer technology is a wonderful thing. It's a MagLev fan, meaning the bearing will only wear out when the rare earth magnets in the bearing wear out (in a couple decades). By the time the bearing wears out, it'll be a solid clump of dust.I measured the fan size, thickness, power draw, current type, airflow, and average sound of a commercial power amp's fan that had failed, and these ended up being the same size and thickness but with more airflow, less draw, and less noise than the OEM unit. Newer technology is a wonderful thing. 5I bought 2 for a Dell 5324 switch. The ... I bought 2 for a Dell 5324 switch. The fans turn but must not turn fast enough as the switch does not sense the fans and won't power on. yes I corrected the fan plugs. This is an older switch so I'll try them in a newer switch when the need arises. 4A little noisy but move lots of air. These fans are a little noisy but do move a lot of air for their size. I am using them on the cold side of a peltier cooler to replace some cheap 40x40x10 fans that have stopped working... likely due to the condensation. Hopefully these will last longer. The higher CFM fans have brought the time to make a 10 degree drop in the cooler from 10+ minutes to just a few minutes. As I understand it, MagLev results in less heat generated by the fan VS a normal bearing fan. 5Fan is Great, Seller... Not So Much Jumping from page to page in my browser looking for a specific fan and the best price. I got it here on Amazon because the prime shipping and all that.I had the fan picked out and found the best price/shipping combo. It arrived and it's the wrong fan.The fan I was ordering is the one pictured on the sellers listing, MB40201VX. What I got was the KDE1204PKVX.It is half my fault for not noticing the item listed in the description is not the same as the one pictured. However it's just bad that they didn't display the correct item or enough information in the description to know the difference (the CFM is different 6.8CFM vs 10.2CFM)In addition to that the other major let down is the fact that it does not come with screws for mounting, so keep that in mind as well. This is the first time I bought fans of any kind that did not include screws. 2Very high quality fan but a bit noisy at full speed Sunon is an industrial grade fan supplier (vs all the PC-grade Chinese junk fans out there). Other industrial grade fans are Delta, NMB, Panasonic, Orion, and Papst, Sunon Maglev fans tend to be very long lived. A good bearing design and lubrication is especially important in 40mm fans as they run at much higher RPM than larger fans. The higher speeds create more wear. Maglev bearings are also quieter than ball bearings. But, running at full speed, this fan isn't exactly quiet. It will, however, start and run on 5 volts (instead of the intended 12 volts) and is nicely quiet but, obviously, doesn't move nearly as much air on 5 volts. If you have a motherboard that will control a 3 pin (vs 4 pin PWM) fan, or have another way to slow it down, this is a good choice. Beware that some 4 pin motherboards will only speed control a 4 pin PWM fan.40mm fans are either noisy or move very little air. You can't have both. At least this is 20mm thick which helps it move air than 15mm or 10mm thick fans for a given speed and noise level. 4
