Customer Reviews

Good sturdy headlamp Good sturdy headlamp. This all aluminim headlamp seems sturdy and well made. The 3 lighting level switch is a little trickey until you master it, no big deal. Plenty bright. A bit on the heavy side, thats to be expected for an all metal headlamp. Uses 2 CR123 batteries that are a bit expensive unless you buy them by the dozen and then they are relatively inexpensive. I was able to adapt a Surefire snap on red lens filter that is important for military or other night ops. I beleive you can buy it with a rechargeable battery and a slip on red filter. The red filter is not availiable seperately as far as I can find. If you need a reliable heavy duty metal headlamp, this is it. 5Heavy; Read for some notes on charging Built like a tank, but pretty heavy on the head. Tends to tug on the elastic headstrap. Light punches thru the gloom well and lasts as long as their advertisement claims. Some info on battery:While I was able to use a generic 18650 battery, the streamlight battery that came with it is a little wider, so the generic rattled a bit, but never caused any lighting outages. The Streamlight OEM battery has it's charging terminals together at the top of the battery, and you use the (included) stremlight USB cable to plug in to a gasket covered hole on the underside. But this also means you can't stick a generic battery in and expect to charge it in the unit the way the OEM batt charges. You will need to bring something else. The other strange thing is when I use some of my generic USB cords, they do not charge the OEM battery. I have to remember to bring the streamlight provided USB cable. These generic cables charge everything else I have, so not sure what's afoot.Otherwise, I highly recommend this headlamp, especially if you hunt, fish, camp, as it's wonderful to have hands free. 3Buy it you will like it. I live in the interior of Alaska. My homestead is far off the beaten path, The only way in or out is by foot, quad or snow machine. The winter months bring with them, many hours of incredibly long dark nights. This is an area that will kill a person in the winter. Therefore I prefer high quality lights. This is my second Streamlight Pro Tac headlamp. I Prefer to have a backup on my gear. Spending the night in the woods with animals that eat people is not always a good thing. The Pro Tac projects a far reaching beam, therefore allowing me to see several hundred feet ahead. The quality is exceptional. Aluminum in construction is a major plus. Battery life is not all that great on high, however 4 additional batteries are not an issue to carry. Would I recommend this headlamp? Absolutely , YES. My reasoning is simple, if it works in the Alaska winters, it will do the same anywhere else on earth. 5Reliable But Needs Improvement We bought three for our family's camping bags; they all worked perfectly out of the box and feel solid and reliable. The grip is aggressive enough to provide solid control even if wet, and the gaskets were all in good working order. The straps work well, although I do not have a helmet to check the rubber helmet bands; they do feel high quality and provide good grip when wet.The one issue I have is the multi-function selector switch: you only have one button to turn on the flashlight and control the brightness setting. To activate the different brightness setting, you have to quickly (.5 sec) press the button (light) on and off, which is difficult given how strong the button is. If you are intentionally trying to press the button as fast as possible, you MAY be able to get it to the correct brightness setting eventually, but it isn't something that will happen easily. There is a way to reprogram the light so that the default changes from high/low to low/high (and strobe is in there too I think), but is needlessly more difficult than cheaper lights that cycle brightness settings (low-high-off). 4Bright This thing is great. Super bright, no artifacts, plenty adjustable, not too heavy. Heavier than my old double clutch, which was light enough to forget it was there. But not like carrying a sack of potatoes on my head.Excellent product that uses a strion battery. With my strion, this headlight, and a good drop light all needs are met. I might still get one of their pen lights just because they look so cool.I haven t spent the time to read how to work the ten tap thing yet.The only thing I don t like is the hokie diffuser cap to change to a spread beam. Since I don t need a diffused beam it s not a issue for my needs. I simply removed it. 5This is a bright headlamp I have used this headlamp every day for three weeks, three to four hours per. I am using it indoors working on Ag Equipement. It is replacing my Streamlight Haz-Lo and my PrincetonTec Apex Pro as my go to work lamp. As of now I am very satisfied with the lights performance. On its medium setting it is still brighter then both. On its high setting it is awesome. It does cost nearly twice as much as my other lamps. The rechargeable usb is a very convenient feature. 5NOT 1000 lumens I like the Streamlight brand. I own many. This headlamp is nice. Great quality. I like the one tap on/off and the diffuser. However, I wanted a light that was brighter or at least as bright than my Streamlight 88052 HL. It is not. The pic shows freshly charged lights. The Streamlight 88052 HL is on the right, the 61307 HL is on the left without the diffuser. No other light in the room. The 88052 is rated at 850 lumens and is much brighter than this 61307 HL rated at 1000 lumens. Both are HL lenses. I am disappointed. Will I send it back? Not sure. It's a nice light. Good quality. 4One of the tools I use pretty much every day I absolutly love this headlight. Im an apprentice at a plumbing company. We only do service not new construction. My schedule is very unpredictable. I work at night or into the night pretty much 90% of the time. I also crawl under houses and in tunnels. I can look for meter boxes or house numbers from quite a long distance. If it wasnt rechargable though Id be broke from the cost of the batteries. I need to get a second light as a backup when this one is charging. It dies fast on high. I havent submerged it in water but it works in the rain just fine. In enclosed spaces it does kind of get in the way but I cant work if I cant see. 5Stop looking at the others and get this. So far so great! I purchased this for an upcoming expedition after realizing my previous headlamp was broke. I searched several different brands before deciding to go with this one. The features that lead me to choose this one were few, 1 it is rechargeable, 2 it is streamlight. I have previous experience with streamlight and have yet to be left disappointed. I wear glasses like many others and this does not have a glare effect when worn without a hat like others I have used. It is a bit on the heavy side when compared to previous lights I have had however that is justified by its quality. Oh yeah, its BRIGHT!My previous experience with streamlight is a pocket sized flashlight that I carry almost every day. I once lost it for close to a month. It had been in my yard and experienced freezing temperatures, snow and rain. When found it worked, still works to this day. 5Stopped giving green full batt light Seems to still fully change but after 4 weeks the green full stopped working. But it is the best head light I ve ever had. Out of about 40 different ones. I use it everyday to crawl in attics looking for small termites 3
