Customer Reviews

Broke after 1 month and can't return it!!!! BUYER BEWARE!! This flashlight seemed like a great idea when it worked. When it did work, it was quite bright, and the case was rugged (which is why I bought it in the first place).Purchased this on 9/22/16. As of one month later, it does not work, and I can't return it!!!!You have to turn the knob of the light to turn it on, and after 1 month, I can turn it all I want and it won't turn on. I've replaced the batteries, made sure the bulb was not cracked etc.DO NOT BUY!!! 1Excellent feel; well made I really like this flashlight. I have had 2 nano flashlights and both failed me when I needed them. The second one I only furniture d it on twice!! Its the inside "clip" that flattened. This one is a bit bigger than a nano but just feels good. Light weight and sturdy. 5Great POWERFUL keychain light!!! This was a perfect fit for my keychain (I have probably a medium size set of keys - 6 regular door/house keys, plus my car key w/the remote button thing, plus a small assortment of those stupid store saving cards) - not too large & overbearing like some flashlights can be. From the base of the flashlight it's the same exact length as my regular door keys (the chain attaching it to the key ring is about 3/4 the size of a regular house key).I got this because I wanted some sort of light on my keychain - nothing major - but just something since despite owning 5-6 small flashlights, I never end up having one in my car when I need it. I got it - quickly turned it on to make sure it works, but didn't really test out how good it was (like trying it in the dark) - and put it on my keys. Turns out this thing is better than most my regular small LED flashlights. The other night I let my small dogs out in the yard w/o turning on the exterior lights - I was going up to bed so all the interior lights were off too & the moon wasn't out - it was pitch black (my yard has tons of tree cover so even with a full moon it's dark out there). I suddenly heard an owl directly above me & dashed back inside to get some sort of light - my keys were right by the door - so I grabbed it & ran back out. The other small LED lights i have struggle to light up my yard, so I thought surely this was not going to do much good - but I was wrong. This was able to easily do that as well as the trees above. I was seriously impressed.I highly recommend this flashlight...it's a powerful little light in a seriously compact design. 5Almost perfect but I cant justify giving it a four. It needs a five rating. I would have given it higher rating if it was available if you made it with a reversible clip so you can clip it to a hat, and have a AAA battery. If the batteries go dead, good luck changing out four watch batteries it currently uses in the dark. It requires another flashlight to see what your doing and sometimes the buddy system and ten minutes in worst case situations. Sorry. been there and done that, but currently there is nothing better than this flashlight I could find. I dropped mine, and recovered it from a river, and it worked after being submerged for five minutes. Its three years old and is built like a tank and having the green led version is better because if you turn it off in the dark, your eyes don't take a half hour they normally need to adjust to the dark. The Green LED version is better on your "night vision" and better than any RED LED I have ever used and feel the CLEAR LED is not necessary, and love how the Green LED is permanently attached so I wont come loose. I carry this everywhere and all the time, plus use it often. ( HINT: I found a hat clip from a lesser flashlight and put it to my KeyMate and used a better and shorter lobster clasp so I can move it back and forth from my Stetson Cowboy Hat and to the key ring to make it more reliable and keep the chain from hanging in my face). I would have loved to have had this when I was in the United States Coast Guard. HONEST REVIEW 5But that's not why I use lights like this. To my mind this is in a ... It's compact, bright, and the batteries (even though "boutique") are available in bulk-pack here. However ... for a tiny form factor, I prefer the Nano. Yes, this will run a lot longer. But that's not why I use lights like this. To my mind this is in a no-man's-land of being too bulky for a keychain and hard to find another place for it.My keychain carries a small med capsule, another capsule with a rolled sheet of waterproof paper and a $20, a Nano, and a telescoping pen. Oh ... and a couple of house keys. So I'd rather have an always-there Nano, and around the house, a Micro. I just don't know where this goes, but it is useful. But big-ish. For a small-ish light. ;-) 3Tiny adorable powerhouse I'll come right out with it, I am a flashaholic. I have far more flashlights that I will ever need in my life, however I find that I cannot stop buying more! This Streamlight KeyMate was the latest, but not the last, in my hefty collection. Now before I start with the pros/cons, I want to let other flashlight hobbyist out there know, that yes this cute little powerhouse will take a 10220 sized Li-ion rechargeable battery with no diminish in performance! (aside from possibly slightly less runtime than the alkalines (by 50mAh), although I have been playing with the light for several hours now, and my 10220 battery has barely dropped in voltage at all). but hey, it's rechargable, so I can use it as much as I want without any repercussions (well maybe a slightly higher power bill :-P).I have included pictures for this product that shows it's size comparison to several different objects, and also shows the 10220 li-ion battery. Now to the pros/cons.Pros:- Bright! Wow, I was surprised when I first turned on this light. I have had many keychain lights in the past, and this one blows them out of the water by far. For how small this is, I am impressed, and that is coming from somebody who owns 1,000+ lumen professional flashlights. The amount of light is a very useful output, and with dark-adapted vision in a dark environment, the output is great for just about anything. I only wish I had one of these when I was a kid! (hint-hint to the parents out there, these no-doubt would make great stocking stuffers for the young-ones ;-))- Cheap, for around $12 this is a price easy to swallow and is not a heavy loss if the light finds a place to hide where you can't find it. Although you are paying mostly for the size, as I'm sure you could probably get a much brighter light for $12 or less. But for the power and it's size, it is worth every penny.- Can take a 10220 Li-ion battery (or similarly sized rechargeable Li-ion batteries; can go as wide as 11.6mm as there is some side-to-side wiggle room with my 10220 battery, as for length I wouldn't push much past 22mm). Having the option to use these batteries is a HUGE plus, as that means I no longer have to buy coin cells which can add up in price. Therefore I can play with this light and squander all of it's battery juice without any worry. All I have to do is recharge the battery! And since Li-ion cells hold their charge for a very long time (unlike alkaline batteries which often go dead in a matter of a year) makes it great for packing in emergency storage or as a backup light in your vehicle.- Very small, it's not the smallest key-chain type of light out there (I honestly wouldn't use it on my key-chain, as it's too big for that IMO) but it is still plenty small, easy enough to pack in virtually anything you can imagine.- Looks. I personally love the way it looks, not only due to how small it is, but it really does look like a super mini-maglight. It has that "perfect scale" kind of look to it, and anybody who likes having miniature versions of things will appreciate this light.- Build, it actually has a pretty decent build quality to it. Smooth threads, has a solid feel and is really light-weight. The machining on it is also extremely well done, no flaws on my light. And lastly, the knurling along the bezel is quite rough and grippy, which makes one-handed operation very possible.- Pocket clip. I likely won't use the clip, but it doesn't get in the way and is a nice option to have (helps with one-handed operation too, as it adds a gripping point to the main body). I can't comment on how it will hold up over time, but it is very tense and not loose at all. Works great for an anti-roll mechanism as well.Cons:- Tint. I am quite a tint-snob, which in the flashlight world means I am very picky when it comes to the color of the flashlights beam. This light is among the worst I have seen, very purple hotspot with yellow spill around the edges of the corona. However I have accepted this tint because for what this light is, an emergency backup, the tint is not really a problem. Because if I need light, this will give it to me. I have my much more expensive modded lights to give me good tints, this light is simply there to supply light if I have nothing else available. And when you really need light of any kind, who cares about it's tint!- Beam quality. I was expecting a little better beam since this light has a reflector, but it really is pretty bad. The hotspot is lopsided and shaped like a peanut, there is rings all over the place (not all round mind you), and there is quite a few messy half-rings around the hotspot. This light is not winning and beam quality awards, i can tell you that much. But just like my previous con, this is a backup light... not my EDC. And when I take that, and the lights price, into consideration, I am perfectly Ok with it. But it is still a con nevertheless, as I would have liked it much better if it had a smoother beam profile.- Batteries. if you are not a flashlight hobbyist (or some kind of hobbyist that deals with special batteries and chargers) then having coin cells as a battery type is a big disadvantage. Harder to find than conventional batteries, they are unreliable for long-term storage, and can be pricey. However if you buy enough in bulk, they are somewhat cheap.- Three piece design. For something this small I would have preferred a two piece design, which would be the head and body. I've read in other reviews for this light that the end-cap can pop out.Well, there you have it! Overall I love this light and am very pleased that I can use rechargeable non-coin cell batteries to power it. 5Super bright, super durable, AMAZING little flashlight! Love this little flashlight! As a prior LEO, I ve always used the Streamlight brand. This is the second one I ve had (I lost the first one), and I d highly recommend it to anyone who wants a super powerful mini flashlight on their keys, etc. They make the Nano too but this one is far more brighter. Plus the clip on the side comes in really handy. I ve searched for another one for months at numerous stores tailored to LEOs, and Amazon was by far the cheapest place I ve found. 5The second one was treated like keys are (minor tossing Appearances are deceiving. Bought 3 and all of them crapped out within 6 months. First one had a machining problem that allowed the threaded portion of the body to tear off while turning it on (screw in for on, loosen for off) approximately 1 month in. The second one was treated like keys are (minor tossing, casual dropping to the nightstand and the like) and something happened to the inner components which caused it to stop working after 4 months. The last was cared for (careful operation, and keys went from pocket to key hook, never any mistreatment or excessive wetting) it seemed like sub par soldering or corrosion even though the batteries were checked monthly (never a hint) and replaced every 2 months. Sadly buying 2 dozen Chinese keychain lights or a pen light would probably have been a better investment. That said the light output was nice for the size and the emitter was quite efficient while it lasted. At this price point look elsewhere. 1~~Bright light and so far, works well~~ I am visually impaired and have purchased several flashlights lately. I finally decided what I really needed was one that I could put around my neck in the morning and leave on until I go to bed. Voila...it is now there...Previously, had been searching for the flashlights when I needed them. This one is so much more convenient for me....One of my problems was in the grocery store when I was trying to read a product description on an item...or the expiration date of milk, for example. Happy to report that today I could easily read both of those items. People were always friendly and nice when I asked them for assistance...but, this light works well and I don't need to ask anymore customers for assistance. It is brighter than I thought it would be and also is a good night light when I get up. I don't know about the battery life (they were installed when I received this although the product description says 'not provided'). I will probably be back to this location when I need assistance in changing the batteries. Will definitely update my review...especially concerning the battery life.Highly recommended. 4Great Keychain Light This is a great little keychain light. I purchased this to keep as a backup light to keep with my ten essentials hiking kit, but I like it so much I've started using it on my keychain. It's solidly built, with good heft to it, smooth twisting action for the light, an almost too robust clip, and excellent anodizing. The light end twists off to reveal the battery compartment, properly sealed off from moisture and dust with an o-ring. The light runs off of four LR44 equivalent watch batteries, so be sure to buy a bulk pack of these from Amazon with your order. The light turns on/off with a simple twist of the housing, on my unit the twist takes just the right amount of effort, not too tight, not too loose, and I've never had it turn on accidentally. The beam of light is quite strong for such a small light as it outshines some very cheap AAA 9-LED flashlights I've ended up with over the years. There are bigger lights that shine brighter, and there are smaller lights, but this light hits the Goldilocks spot for my keychain. It's got enough power to be useful, enough battery life to be there when I need it, and is small enough to not be inconvenient. 5
