Customer Reviews

Great for use with pets too! Didn't buy these for the advertised traditional use, but instead for cuting my crazy cats claws and I have to say - they work great! They are big and long and go all the way up my arms. The material is very thick and protects me well from any bites or scratches I would otherwise get. The material actually seems to help deter my cat from biting them too. The stitching appears strong and I don't have any worries about these ever ripping or coming apart. Would definitely recommend them to other owners of difficult pets! 5Great! We bought these for animal handling to avoid scratches, and they are perfect. They go completely over the elbow and halfway over the upper arm. The leather is heavy and the lining is like canvas; very durable. 5Very impressed initially - excellent protection when welding stick and mig Very impressed initially - excellent protection when welding stick and mig. I have two 225+ amp welders, so things get hot and there are plenty of sparks flying and lots of ultraviolet and infrared radiation. Out of the box I loved them. When they work, they work great. Handling hot metal was never a problem. Dexterity was acceptable for a heavy duty glove such as these. I used them while welding, grinding, fitting, and general fabrication. I like the extra length - the over the elbow fit means no forearm burns, and no hot metal jumping the cuff and finding its way to the wrist or hand. But, as others have noted, the stitching is not great. Mine lasted a couple of months, then a stitch in the index finder broke. The gloves were useless a few days later. For power tools I typically get the extra protection just in case - but I did not purchase protection for these gloves, and in retrospect, that was a mistake. It's tough to toss these in the bin just because one of the 10 fingers of the glove is coming unraveled. But - as they are now they are just a serious burn waiting to happen. I liked the full leather, and liked the soft and flexible fit. Inner insulation was great and for all but the most extreme cases, handling hot metal was never a problem. I've seen some that offer kevlar stitching - so my quest now is to find a comparable pair of gloves that addresses the stitching problem with these. 3Excellent product So, I purchased these gloves NOT for welding or any similar type of work. I bought them because we have a number of feral cats that have come to the house and some of those we've decided to adopt or bring to the vet to be checked out since we don't want them potentially getting any of our or other neighborhood cats sick. Well, if you've ever attempted to handle an adult feral cat........Tazmanian Devil comes to mind. After thinking about it I purchased these gloves to protect my hands and arms and they worked out great. I'm sure they would also work for their intended purpose but the stopped any teeth and claws from "hitting their mark" and allows me to handle the cat(s) safely without any harm to either of us! In case anyone has a similar issue I hope this helps. 5Great! No more forearm touches to the wood stove Great! No more forearm touches to the wood stove! I have longer arms & larger hands, you can drop a quarter through my wedding ring... The gloves fit my fingers and hands well enough, the extra long gauntlet fits up to my elbow joint, but is tight, my sleeve length is 37". If I push the gauntlet back down below the elbow area the fit is loose enough to relieve the restricted movement from tight at my elbow. My forearm @ the elbow is 15" in circumference, so these will definitely fit the average size person, as well as some larger framed people. My wife is 5'4" & I'm 6'3"+, these also fit her well enough for her to use them without problems. If the gauntlet seems too long for you @ 23" from finger tip to gauntlet sleeve end the gauntlet is soft enough you can push it down some without moving the glove part off of you hand.My only note is not really a complaint, just a note: These are a hair thinner at the glove than my regular heavy duty welding glove I use for handling hot metal in the shop, I can pick up a hot ember with those & not feel it much. The extra long gauntlet gloves you can feel the heat pretty quickly doing that, but they are great for putting in more wood and positioning it in a reasonable amount of time. Only had them a couple of days so cannot comment on durability, but compared to the heavier welding gloves I have been using I'd say they should be very durable. 5These are such a good price we ordered two and they fit the bill We work with birds of prey and other wildlife. Talon and bite gloves can cost hundreds of dollars and they wear out just as quickly as lesser prices gloves. These are such a good price we ordered two and they fit the bill. I wouldn't handle an eagle with them, but a red-tailed hawk or a great horned owl is not problem. 5Good, tough gloves Good, tough gloves. But be clear: these are huuuuge! I'm six feet tall with long arms and big hands. And these are nearly too big for me. They're good gloves: just really, really big (on the inside) and long. I've never welded anything in my life, so I can't say if they're fit for that purpose. But most of the reviews I read were not from welders, anyway. I bought them to "fight" with my dog (lab mix). She loves to play rough (though she also plays by well-oberved rules), and my last pair of gloves got destroyed. So far, these have held up. There is a lot of strong biting and sharp tooth action, but so far so good. (Inside of these gloves I wear a second pair of nail/screw resistant work gloves. Did I mention these gloves were huge?) I'm using these gloves for a purpose beyond their intended use... but so was pretty much every other reviewer. I suspect (just guessing) that if they can handle my dog's strong bite, they can handle other animal scratches and welding sparks. 4Decent, but could be better. I bought them for my dad to load and manipulate wood in a wood stove, and it has worked pretty well in that regard. After a couple of months of winter weather, (regular use) his arms aren't burnt, but a couple of holes have worn through the palm of the glove. They feel like decent, maybe even good leather, and I realize they are being used off-label, but I feel like a better reinforcement of the palm area wouldn't hurt the construction at all. 3Beware: quality has declined. Having purchased the same item in December 2011, I figured it worth getting another pair of the same when the fingers finally did wear through. Yes, I use my gloves, intensively. Which is why, after 5 years of use, I wasn't too miffed to replace them - the previous pair had exceeded my expectations. This new pair... not so much.I normally refrain from writing 1 and 2 star reviews because I've found, in general, such reviews tend to be noisy. In this case though the 2 stars are, in my experience, warranted:Right out of the gate, I can see the liner has been cheapened. I can see through the liner to the inside of the leather. Not so with the old pair, even after 5 years of use. When it comes to picking up something hot, I want that liner. And the stitching isn't what it was either. The seams stop well short of what the last pair offered, leading me to give extra heed to others who've been pointing out similar deficiencies recently.Needless to say, I don't see this pair holding up to 5 years of use. They are being returned for a different product. 2Think Out of The Box i needed heavy duty gloves to play with my 47 pound dog. after foreverthe gloves need to be replaced with after hundreds of hours of fight andtug and pull, also lets him be rougher than when we do the play onlybare handed - old man mikePS i am sure they must be fine welding gloves also 5
