Customer Reviews

Glass is Gimicky Don t know if I received a bad copy but I accidentally touched the filter with my finger and when I went to clean it it stained onto it. Even with lens tissue it didn t come off. I also tried the lens pen... 1Works great with my Tamron 150-600mm zoom on a Canon 7D Works great with my Tamron 150-600mm zoom on a Canon 7D! I tried to give it a full workout after buying it -- shooting into shaded trees, across lakes, at birds in branches against blue skies, etc., and I noticed no performance degradation, no autofocus problems, no trouble at all. It also seems to work well without being overly dark. I like it. 4Used packed as new Arrived looking used in a very scratched case. Item listed as new. It is anything but new. The price is high. 3Good product, good price. Good product. No chance to compare with other brands but i think it does it s job quite well. 5As Advertised Well I bought this polarizing filter just to have it for sunny exposure days.Seems to me worth the money. No complaints. Well built, quality glass.I don't remember if I read the review for this one stating that you could not use a lens cap with it. If so that is false. There is enough of a lip on the filter to clip the standard cap to it. No need to get another cap.Worth the $ 5A most helpful polarizing filter! In addition to being a circular polarizer, appropriate for use on autofocusing cameras, this one has a highly grip-friendly TEXTURE. Polarizers must be rotated while on the lens, and this texture make a simple thing like rotating the filter EASY instead of frustrating! The filter is well multi-coated and does not produce reflections - so it will not weaken the optical performance of the lens.I will seek out (at Amazon) Sigma brand filters in the future, and recommend them. 5Average price, mediocre performance and a cheap feel. There are better options. Sigma has made tremendous strides in recent years. They've taken what was an average third party lens making company, producing a lot of middle of the road lenses and they've turned it into company that is now turning out lenses that flat out beat their Canon and Nikon counterparts. They're a great, top quality company that still makes stuff in JAPAN, not China, and they really do some remarkable things. I have two of the DN Art series lenses in the Sony e-mount and when mounted on my A-6000 they are tack sharp, with Zeiss-like characteristics. The 30mm f/2.8 is about as good a lens as I've ever used. It's very light and has a clunky floating element and the lightweight build doesn't inspire confidence, but it is quite simply the optical equal of lenses costing four times as much. Wonderful color, perhaps a tad on the warm side which, all in all, makes for incredibly appealing images. I consider them better performers than the vast majority of Sony's lenses for this mount. And the price makes them an absolute no-brainer bargain. I sure wish they'd build more. A high quality standard zoom would be oh so welcome. I'd preorder it, that's how much I like their lenses. And that's why I decided to pull the trigger and buy my first Sigma filter. So I am a fan of Sigma, not a hater. So, that said, I just can't get on board with all the five star reviews of this filter. The frame has a grippy sort of texture but I don't find it particularly helpful. The moving and static rings feel too loose. As another reviewer said, this polarizer does not polarize evenly. The transition from low effect to high effect when 90 degrees from the sun is anything but subtle. It's noticeable during use and easily seen thru the viewfinder. Problem is, it's even more noticeable in the picture file. It's nice when you can see the change in polarization as you turn the ring, but this is extreme and I don't care for it. The filter is very reasonably priced, particularly when compared to B+W and Heliopan (egad), and in the same price range as THK Hoya. However, I had great difficulty getting the threads to even get started on to my Zeiss lens. I've never had a filter that was so difficult to screw on to the end of a lens. And the threads are way too soft. That worries me. Some sort of soft aluminum that I speculate could become easily stripped, particularly in the field. Super easy to cross thread. That's not good. It's also difficult to remove if it's anywhere near snug. I got it stuck the very first time. Had to do the old rubber band removal trick. I shouldn't have had to do that. Ridiculous. The glass is definitely non reflective but I found that it actually degraded the performance of a particularly high performing lens. It's very thin and there's not even a hint of vignetting. So there is the one positive. All in, I give this a 3 because of the reasonable price and because I may simply have gotten a bad sample. This filter is back in the box and is being returned. I bought a Hoya digital HD 8 layer hardened glass CP to replace it. I've had much better luck with the top quality Hoyas. I've found they're generally on par with their German counterparts at a better price. If you've got a slow, inexpensive zoom on your camera, this filter is fine. But don't put this filter in front of top quality glass. It's like putting Saran Wrap on your windshield. And you'll be swearing at yourself as you try to peel the Saran Wrap off. Sorry, Sigma. 3Great Circular Polarizer at a really great price! This Sigmal EX DG multi coated Circular Polarizer has excellent optics and works very well on all my cameras. It really darkens the sky on sunny days and takes the glare out of reflections. I have several different brands of Circular Polarizers, and this Sigma is one of the best. Compared to some of the well known brands, this one is priced very reasonable. The quality is there and the price is great! I could not be happier with the product. It is way better than my Hoya for a lot less money. 5Good quality and build Does what it's supposed to. Good quality and build. Looks nice on the front of my Sigma 17-70mm. Took far longer than I had wished for delivery and this was the 2nd time I had to order it because I was shipped a UV protector instead of the Polarizer which also took almost a month to be delivered. By the time I got this item, the Summer was already pretty much over so wasn't too happy about that but it is a nice product. As long as they ship the right thing to you. 5Great filter The filter is crystal clear and works perfectly. I would put this against any of my B&W filters any day. It's funny, I ordered this as I needed a 72MM pol filter in a rush and I couldn't find a B&W 72MM in stock at that time. I was going to "settle" for this until I could get a B&W to replace the sigma filter. I have since purchased three other sigma filters and love them all.Great filter at a good price. 5
