Customer Reviews

Great lens at a great price!Love this lens! I was torn between this and the Tokina lens. So very happy with my choice, I had borrowed the Tokina from someone else so knew what to expect from it. The Sigma EX runs circles around it! Gives you a great wide view, not a bubble look, high quality photos. Couldn't be happier with this lens!5ImpressedVery impressed with the quality of this lens. Auto focus works smoothly and the sharpness is good.5Great Lens for Real Estate Photography The lens fit on my Canon 3200 perfectly as expected. It definitely made a huge difference in my photos without creating too much distortion (no fish eye effects just a nice wide angle view.) I have included 3 views of one of my listings so you can see the difference between the widest angle with the kit lens and the widest angle with this Sigma 10-20mm lens. Please note that the lighting was different the day I used the Sigma lens and those pics were edited for viewing online, but not cropped. I hope they help you decide if this is what you are looking for. I had the most difficult time getting an answer to what lens would be good for real estate, I am glad I went with this one. It seems to be perfect for my need and it is at a good price point for a beginning lens. 5Five Starsits pretty sharp and good lens for landscape. im glad i bought this.5An essential additionI'm greatly enjoying a new range of photo opportunities with this lens. It is only recently that I have come to realize that many pictures are simply impossible without a wide angle lens that can take in a big area. I have obtained many awesome shots with this on my Nikon D5300 and have no complaints. Zoom is easy. Auto focus is rapid.5Great Lens for Real Estate PhotosI'm blown away by this lens--and so's my #1 real estate photo client. I jumped on it when I saw the lens on sale, and it's one of the smarter purchases I've made. I purchased it primarily for real estate photography, especially for shooting in tight spaces to get more of the room. My normal walk-around lens, which is an 18-300mm zoom is pretty good for photoing rooms at its widest angle, but to be able to zoom down to 10mm has been hugely helpful in photoing closets, kitchen spaces, bathrooms, tall or wide structures from short distances, etc. It's now my main real estate lens, and it's already close to paying for itself after a month of working with it.5Great Range, Sharp Images, Solid Build Quality! When people ask for recommendations on a super-wide-angle lens, they're often trying to decide between the Tokina 11-16 f/2.8 and the Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5.I tested these two lenses side by side last year and decided on the Sigma 10-20mm for several reasons:1. Extra range2. Better manual-focus ring3. Extraordinary "starbursts" when shooting into the sun4. Very solidly builtI took many great photos with this lens at locations in the US and abroad. Unfortunately, my kayak tipped over on a river in Florida earlier this year, and the dry bag wasn't sealed properly. As you might expect, #4 from the list above ("very solidly built") did absolutely nothing to prevent the water damage, and the lens was totally trashed. :(Even with the opportunity to buy the Tokina 11-16mm on sale from Adorama for $150 less, I went for the Sigma once again. This is a workhorse lens that pairs perfectly with the D7200 and was used to take these photos from last week's 4th of July fireworks. :) 5I use this on my D750 and it's a great little lensI use this on my D750 and it's a great little lens. I bought it for my trip to St. Augustine and it worked out well.5Awesome glass!A great lens for real estate and architecture. Beautiful construction and takes incredible images. See attached a few of my recent HDR shots with it. 5I love them and they are perfect for all of my ... I have been through 3 of these lenses. I love them and they are perfect for all of my needs. I use them everyday and every picture looks great. Hard to take a bad photo with this guy. I use them for work but I'm not a professional photographer- but they make my photos look very professional! 5Beautiful resultsI've owned this great lens for about eight months, and although it doesn't come out of my bag a lot, when I need or want a VERY wide angle shot the Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5 has no equal. The color and contrast it delivers without any post-production modification is truly amazing. Every image has an eye-catching "snap," even if the subject is very hum-drum. The f/3.5 costs more than its slower brother, but I have no regrets about spending the extra bucks for the constant aperture. It's one less thing to worry about in low(er) light conditions. On indoor shots or those where you want fill flash, the Sigma delivers great results matched with the Canon 430ex ii (just pull down the wide angle screen over the flash head that's built in to the 430). Auto focus is fast and accurate, and images are sharp enough at any focal length (I use it mainly at 10-15mm). The Sigma is very solidly built (slightly heavy, because of the excellent glass), and it's a visually attractive lens as well. Comes with a well padded zipper case, for secure shelving when you don't need it in your bag. No regrets on this purchase at all.5BEST UWA Lens EVER.If you can't afford the higher end lens, PLEASE do yourself the favor and purchase this one. I ADORE this lens!!! As a storm photographer, it's a dream.5Great lens for the price. If your looking for a Ultrawide angle lens for a decent price the Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5 is a good choice. It is not a fisheye so straight lines will remain straight. However the same caveat that applies to all wide angle lenses applies here. Do not photograph people to the sides of the frame with this lens as you will likely get distortion. It's best to photograph people in the center with any ultra wide lens. For others that are new to wide angles like myself, one of the pieces of advice I came across when shooting with a wide angle lens is to try and get close to your subject. With such a wide angle the viewer may become detached from the subject so it's good to have something in the foreground to draw you in.What's important to note about this lens is that it has a wider aperture of 3.5. This is good if you plan on shooting indoors or in low light situations. This isn't a prime lens with a fixed focal length but rather a zoom lens that is a bit more versatile. I have a Nikon D5100 and the newer Nikon wide angle I had seen wouldn't work on my camera body. This lens will work with F-mount cameras. You can check Amazon at the top by searching for your camera model for compatibility. Also worth mentioning is it does have a focus motor and will auto focus. However it does not have image stabilization which while unfortunate isn't really a necessity. The build quality of the lens is pretty nice. It is a bit on the heavy side, but it feels solid. It also comes with a petal hood to prevent sun flare and a padded lens case.On a DX camera it's worth noting that the 10-20 mm is actually 15-30mm due to crop factor. The only real downside to this lens is that while photos tend to be sharp in the center of the image across all apertures, the corners can become a bit fuzzy. If you want sharper corners you may need to stop down F-8, or F-11.EDIT: I have had the chance to use this lens on a recent trip to Ireland and have decided to share some of the shots taken with this lens. The lens can create some nice sunburst effects as well! I was so pleased with how this lens performed in Ireland. I shot a lot of landscape shots right through the window of the tour bus setting a fast shutter speed. I did get some glare at times, which I may have been able to reduce with a polarizing filter. The lens is great for getting an entire building into the frame of an image, or for some truly stunning landscape shots. If you can't afford to invest a $700-$1000 in a wide angle lens, for the price the Sigma 10-20 F/3.5 is a good lens for the price.5
