    Rusty... Within the first year, our (white) mailbox was rusted all over. It hangs under a roof and doesn t get wet when it rains. Disappointed to say the least. It looks awful. 1Overall a great purchase. I bought this for our English tudor house. It is sturdy metal. The lid needs to be manually shut after opening. It is not waterproof so I would recoomend on a covered porch. It is very deep so make sure to not hang up too high. It is bigger than I imagined. Overall, I am happy with the purchase. 4Not Waterproof Leaked from first day it rained. Tried sealing all openings with sturdy tape to no avail.It is not protected by any overhang, but that should have been stated in the description, as necessary to prevent water from entering.Otherwise, well made, and sturdy.UPDATE:After almost 3 years, and after many attempts at sealing up any gaps (short of welding it shut) it still leaks like a siv! Now I keep some sponges at the bottom which I am in the process of drying out now. Waiting for it to rust out because it's too much work to replace it. 1Good! This is a really nice mailbox. Heavy! Got a "used" one at a big discount (wasn't used, but missing screws, basically). I didn't use the inside plate (as my husband said, "Isn't that kind of defeating the purpose of the holes?) Suppose it depends on your security situation, though. 5Strong, Attractive, and Sturdy Ok so I went to Home Depot, Ace Hardware, and a few other hardware stores and ... well, I tried some and returned them all. Long story short: this is a very heavy duty mailbox with a nice mat black finish and sturdy rain proof lid. If you are looking for a wall mount mail box, this is the one to get. It comes with those old-style hangers for newspapers but even if you still do get newspapers, they get thrown on your porch so I left these off. This box also has openings on the face of the box and I have lived through some pretty tough rainstorms this past winter with no problems. Mine is mounted under a little brick overhang, but if you are worried about water they even include a solid steel rectangle piece to cover up these opening. I like the way they look, however. 5Worth every penny, will buy again after move! Amazing, getting your money's worth on this one. Very heavy metal & solid, no imperfection at all and they include an additional metal piece to use inside for security if you need it. 5the best part is that if I go out of town ... This mailbox matched my 1945 bungalow perfectly, the best part is that if I go out of town for a few days, I don't have to ask friends or neighbors to check the mail- it holds all tall magazines and such without the lid bulging- so I am not advertising that no one is home with an overstuffed mail bin. You will be surprised at the weight and heft of this- installed easily and securely. 5Worlds better than box store mailboxes I bought a similar mailbox at my local big box store but wasn't 100% happy with it. After shopping around, I decided to take a chance on this one. I'm so glad I did! For not much more money, it is so much heavier and sturdier, and it looks great, too! 5Perfect, Love the size Love this mailbox for its size. Since I run a small business out of my home, it was important to get one that could handle larger deliveries. I opted not to use the magazine hooks because the box itself has plenty of room.The only drawback which didn't occur to me at the time of purchase is the lack of an "outgoing mail flag." As an alternate, I found a strong magnet which matches the mailbox and I simply place outgoing mail attached to the side of the mailbox using the magnet. Since my mailbox is well under cover on my porch and the mail can stay dry, it works great and my mailman complimented me on my creativity. 5Solid construction and size make this a winner! Looked at several mailboxes both in stores and via Amazon. Settled on this one and we really like it. Solid construction and can hold regular mail and full sized magazines easily. Product has some heft to it and I appreciate that. Does not feel flimsy like so many at this price point. Great buy! 5
