For me, the alarm is not very useful and the batteries are difficult to change 3Good EnoughThis product is somewhat cheaply made with plastic like a toy would, but it does do what it is supposed to do. It has a electric wire that when cut will give off a loud noise. The alarm will also go off if the combination has been tampered with. It's a nice deterrent against theft and would be most useful in a public area where there are people in earshot of it. Otherwise it would be useless since it would be easy to cut. There is an adapter that comes with the alarm where you can connect it to any laptop or electronic with a lock symbol on it.Overall it's a nice concept, but could be made better considering the price tag on it. I would suggest that the creators come up with a new product that has the same design, but uses better quality materials. Such as metal for the casing, and a thicker wire so it could be somewhat resistant to cutting. 3Five StarsDucks didn't work after a while. 5Five StarsGreat Product! 5Laptop Lock and Personal AlarmI set the combination, tested it several times and it worked. I got home from school, took my book bag out of the car, and placed it on the ground a little too hard. Although in all fairness, I have to say that the lock and laptop were sitting on the upper half of the book bag, therefore, it did not hit the ground directly. Then, as soon as it hit the ground, the alarm went off. I took it inside and tried my combination to no avail. I hoped that I could find the right combination and tried for approx. an hour to reset it, thinking that the tumbler might have moved one space or so I thought. Well after a long while, I finally gave up, cut the wire and had to hit the alarm with a hammer to get it to shut off. Needless to say, I called Amazon and they told me that I had to contact the seller. The told the seller I wanted a replacement or a refund. They are sending me a replacement. Hopefully, this is not just bad manufacturing because if it is then it will probably happen again. I wonder if this is nothing but a cheap batch of locks that were purchased from an auction and was being sold as a palette full of useless and defective locks. I have yet to receive the product. Nevertheless, I hope that it will work this time. I am satisfied with the sellers prompt service; however, I still question the product. I do not think the seller is the manufacturer, therefore, I hope he lets the manufacturing company know of the defect. I am just glad it did not happen when I was at the library or worst yet in one of my classes. How embarrassing would that be? 1Bait and switchWhat I was shipped was nothing like what was pictured. Rather I received a generic knock-off version of a Targus Defcon-1 lock which I wanted to replace with this one because it's twice the weight even before the 4-aaa batteries.
