Customer Reviews

Dead on arrival, replacement doesn't work either Initially the Sabrent CR-UIN3 caused my system to lock up before the BIOS screen. Contacted Sabrent directly, who shipped a replacement unit (promptly I might add). The replacement unit no longer locks up system. Both USB 3.0 and 2.0 flash sticks will read with no problem. Card reader does not read Lexar 512MB 40x CompactFlash (verified this card works in another reader and in camera). Red power LED is on, but no activity light (green LED).I have already tried the USB 2.0 version of this card and first one out of box caused a system lock up. Losing confidence in the quality of their products, but I did appreciate tech support's prompt reply in trying to fix the unit.Frankly the internal drives seem to be problematic, best to get a external USB unit. 1Updated Unit did not work as stated I would recommend purchasing a different brand I did not return as ... Updated 13 June 2018, received a replacement unit direct from the supplier works great two things I observed the external package was seal and the unit had a plastic seal a bit like cling film around the unit. The original one I received from Amazon the external package was not sealed and the unit was not seal making me believe that this was a returned item which was simply put back on Amazon shelve and resoldI will be writing Amazon. I would give five stars but need to test the unit for a few months "Excellent customer service from the supplier five star"Unit did not work as stated I would recommend purchasing a different brand I did not return as the cost to send back out ways the purchase price.1. USB port never worked. not a big issue as I have front ports2. The other ports are misaligned I manged to wiggle and bend and got the SD card to go in and it works3. The blue light is very bright but same can be reduced I painted mine with the Wife dark nail polish three coats over ten minutes allowing the each to dry and it seems ok now.4.I notice that some of the reviews are fine with the product so I may have just got a lemon but for US$ 7 ?You purchase at a hit and miss. I got a miss "smile" 4Works great and no issues with it for my build I will go into in-depth detail on any item since other popular reviews have given excellent information, so in quick summary:My Build (all components work flawlessly):1. Zalman ATX Mid Tower Case R1 (Nice looking case, provides room for everything, adequate cooling and allows good cable management).2. ASUS ROG STRIX Z370-H GAMING LGA1151 DDR4 HDMI DVI M.2 Z370 ATX Motherboard with Gigabit LAN and USB 3.1 for 8th Generation Intel Core Processors (Great expandability and room for future upgrades, enough USB ports for most applications).3. EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 Ti GAMING, 8GB GDDR5, EVGA OCX Scanner OC, White LED, DX12OSD Support (PXOC) Graphics Card 08G-P4-5670-KR (Great balance of price and performance).4. Intel Core i7-8700 Desktop Processor 6 Cores up to 4.6GHz Turbo LGA1151 300 Series 65W BX80684i78700 (Came with a thermal solution (fan) but I used the Cooler Master - see below).5. 2 of Crucial MX500 500GB 3D NAND SATA 2.5 Inch Internal SSD - CT500MX500SSD1(Z) (Man this is fast, Win10 boots in about 5/6 secs. and programs open fast as well).6. Crucial MX500 500GB 3D NAND SATA M.2 Type 2280SS Internal SSD - CT500MX500SSD47. CORSAIR TX Series TX850M 850W 80+ Gold Modular Power Supply (Adequate power supply for into the future and has ample connectors).8. Corsair LPX 32GB DRAM 3000MHz C15 Memory Kit for DDR4 Systems (Adequate for my application for work and gaming)9. Cooler Master Hyper RR-212E-20PK-R2 LED CPU Cooler with PWM Fan, Four Direct Contact Heat Pipes (Instructions are poor, system builders with experience will have no problem, first timers will eventually figure it out. Comes with all you need including thermal paste).10. ASUS MX239H 23-Inch, Full HD 1920x1080 IPS, Audio by Bang & Olufsen ICEpower HDMI VGA Frameless Monitor (Really nice monitor for the price though those heavy gamers will want something far superior. Built in Audio is good enough for You Tube and regular use, but I personally find its not so good for Netflix, look at some decent speakers based on your needs).11. Sabrent 74-In-1 3.5" Internal Flash Media Card Reader/writer with USB Port , Black (CR-USNT) (For the cost and convince you can t go wrong).12. Asus DRW-24B1ST-KIT 24x Internal DVD Burner + Nero 12 Essentials Burning Software + Sata Cable Kit (Obsolete in some ways but good to have at times as some persons still give work items on CD).13. Backlit Gaming Mouse, Gaming Keyboard, Large Gaming Mouse Pad, PC Computer Gaming Headset with Microphone Combo, S101-BA Redragon RGB LED Backlit 104 Key Gaming Keyboard with Wrist Rest (No issues at all, good feel and responsiveness and mouse drivers are available on the website. The headset sounds good). 5Affordable internal card reader. This Sabrent card reader works well. I originally used a USB card reader, but was a bit inconvenient to use. This internal card reader is easy to use. However, there are some gaps on the sides when installed which is a minor annoyance and may affect airflow. Could use some tape the close the gap, but I'm not sure who's at fault (my cheap Rosewill FBM-01 case or the card reader). The LED lights (access and power) are extremely bright. I don't see the need for the power LED. Electric tape mod easily covers the LEDs. The microSD and SD slot cannot be used at the same time which is a minor inconvenience. I haven't tried the other slots yet since I rarely use those cards. In "My Computer," each card slot has its own drive letter, but shows as inactive. Occasionally, when inserting a card, the card doesn't read properly and produces an error. Just remove and reinsert it and the problem should go away. The single USB 2.0 port works fine. Too bad it isn't USB 3.0. It is cheaper to buy this card reader and a 3.5" USB 3.0 port bracket than one USB 3.0 internal card reader. Too bad my computer only has one 3.5" slot; I could buy a 5.25" to 3.5" adapter. This item has a three year warranty and the manufacturer seems to be active on Amazon. If aesthetics of your computer don't matter, buy this card reader. There is an issue with USB 3.0 devices if plugged in too far. The device will not receive power and will not work. Pulling it out a little will allow the device to function. 3Works just fine, but the USB connection lead is really short Have only tested the SD and USB slot functionality and they both work just fine. The rest of the slots probably won't get used...The USB2.0 internal connector is obnoxiously short on this thing. Maybe it was just mine or I overlooked the spec in the item description, but it's well under 24" long and I'm using a full ATX case. I had to butcher a USB2 lead from an old computer and solder headers on the bare ends to use as an extension. Not a huge deal, as I have the tools and parts to adapt to the situation, but someone else might not have the same opportunity. So minus a star for that.If you are buying this for a big case, buy an extension. Otherwise, this is GREAT for the money. 4Great price, but it has it's issues I bought this for my Dell Optiplex 990 running Windows 10. I looked at a lot of different readers, but I kept coming back to this one because of the price. Mainly what I needed was just an SD and microSD reader, but I also have CF cards that I use occasionally. So far the SD and microSD seem to work pretty good. The only complaint there is that the SD slot is a little narrow, and it often catches on the write protect slider when trying to remove a card, requiring a bit of fiddling to free the card. If you remember to put a little side pressure when removing the card, no big deal. It just takes some getting used to.Unfortunately I'm not having as much luck with the CF reader. As has been reported on many of the CF slots on these low-end readers, the slot isn't deep enough to get the card easily aligned before it starts making contact with the pins. You have to be very careful about how you insert it, and never really feels "positive" when it is fully inserted. If that were the only issue, I could probably live with it for the rare times when I use CF cards. However even when I get them inserted, it still fails to recognize any of my cards. The white light will come on, and it will spin the cursor for a while, but then eventually come up with a "Please insert a disk in to Removable Disk (G:)" message, as if it sees the card inserted but is unable to read it. I tried several cards, all with the same result. I inspected the slot, and it doesn't look like there are any bent pins, so I don't know what to make of it.I haven't tried any of the other slots as I don't have any of those types of cards. If the CF slot worked, I would probably give it easily 4, maybe even 5 stars. But with a significant portion of the functionality not working, I'm afraid I have to drop down to a 2. 2It gets the job done, but feels cheap and ineffective I installed this card reader into a micro ITX case and it seems to accomplish what it has stated. The read and write speeds that I've been seeing are largely unimpressive and may recommend just using a USB card reader instead. In addition, the actual ports seem to be low quality. The front plate of the reader lies in front of the ports themselves rather than resting on top or level with them. This means that in order to plug in a card or USB, you must align the device with the reader perfectly. It does not "click" into place and overall just feels flimsy. It is very easy to try to insert a memory device only to not properly set it into the port. There are few options for devices like this, so it seems to get the job done, but I think sticking to a USB card reader offers more versatility and seems to be just as reliable if not more so.Also, I removed the LED as some other reviewers mentioned its inconvenience. 3Great Product for a great price!!! *with a few minor flaws Before I purchased this product, I constantly had external SD card readers breaking on me. I was surprised to find that even though this product is only $6, it works perfectly* I have used it for around 6 months now and it has never once failed to do its job. A lot of people were also complaining about the LED's on the reader. However, I didn't even know that was an issue until I read about it in the reviews. To me, the LED's are a helpful indicator that things are working properly and they do not seem overly bright or distracting.*UPDATE:Recently I purchased a wireless keyboard for my computer. I decided to attach the USB receiver to this card reader. The keyboard worked fine, however from that point on my computer was unable to detect any SD cards that were plugged in. I eventually switched the USB receiver to a different port on the back of my computer which solved the issue. In summary,If you plan on using both the USB port and the SD card reader at the same time, you will probably run into some issues. I also noted later on that the micro SD slot does not work either, but for the price, I cannot complain 4Great card reader! Works well and mounted fairly easily. The only complaint as others have said is the heads of the mounting screws aren't large enough and can't "grab" the sides of the bay so I had to use washers to mount it.The light is very bright as mentioned by reviewers before me, but doesn't bother me in the least as I have a dedicated office space in my house. See pictures that show the brightness. The first is the camera directly in front of the light, the second is showing how far the light reaches. The quality is superb. All card slots and the USB port work, but the USB port is what I would consider "upside down". Basically when you insert a flash drive the status light on the drive faces the floor instead of the ceiling, and the built in USB ports on my case face the other way. 5Perfect Little Internal Card Reader I needed something that would read SD and micro/mini (whichever you want to call it) SD cards, but I didn't want to get one that required a separate power source or one that required an internal USB 3 connection as my case already had the only one on my motherboard in use. I wanted something that would fit in my computer tower though because I don't want a bunch of stuff cluttering up my desk, or sitting in a drawer waiting to be used. I also didn't want to spend a fortune on it.Well, this was perfect as it was low cost, had probably any card slot I will ever need on it and comes with a USB 2 port on it that is perfect for my game controller which is the only thing I want in a drawer waiting to be used. Yeah, I could leave it hooked up in the back, but that clutters the desk with something I don't use every time I used the computer. The connection is done via internal USB 2 port on the motherboard and not your typical USB 2 port you would find on the back. Most motherboards have an abundance of these anymore so it shouldn't be a problem for anybody. Everything works perfectly and looks really nice in my case, and it was shipped with a couple other things I ordered packaged a lot better than I actually thought it would be.I purchased this from Store4PC which was fulfilled by Amazon, and I will be more than likely to do business with them again as I am very happy with my order. 5
