Customer Reviews

Great value. Work just fine.Bought these for the shooting range and have used them several times with no issues. Judging by other reviews maybe my head is smaller but the fit is not painfulat all after an hour of use. The only reason not a 5 star is I wish the band fit behind my head without falling to my neck and being pushed by my shirt or jacket collar breaking the seal of the plug in my ear. I deal with it. For $5-6 compared to more expensive and heavy muffs, or disposables, a great value. 4Too painful for long time useThe plastic band cannot be adjusted, and the pressure forces the ear plugs deep into your ear canal. I can only wear these for about 30 minutes then I have to pull them out, and I can only wear them for about an hour a day. They do seal tightly and block noise.I got these for yard mowing because my outside-the-ear "earmuff" hearing protectors became hot and wet with sweat. I have an older pair of ear plug protectors that have an adjustable stainless steel band and a blunt type of oil filled ear plug, and they are more comfortable. It would help if a blunt type of ear plug was offered. These would be good for short time noise exposure. The most comfortable hearing protection I have found are the cheap foam ear plugs that you compress by rolling between your fingers and then press into your ear canal. 2product is good idea, implemented badly. Amazon refunded.I really, really wanted to like these. I have used sets of banded ear plugs for many years and love the convenience of removing but leaving around neck for accessibility. I just don't like the foam plugs on the ones I've used. Those have worked, but not as well as silicone/gel/rubber type on a string. Maybe, I thought, this would be the best of both worlds! Nope. This model failed in too many ways :(First, I have about an "average" sized head for a guy based on helmets, etc. I've used v. other guys sizes. I never had this problem with other similar products, but on this product the band seemed too small. They would not go over top of my head and still reach ears. Okay, I thought, I'll wear behind the head. Tried that but since it's small, it kept rubbing and snagging on jacket, shirt, etc. Even when I'd turn my head hard to one side or other, they would bump up against my neck and pull out. I tried under chin - similar problem - being smaller they banged into me and clothing, just being a nuisance. I tried as many different positions as I could think of between these - over top of back of head ... I won't list them all here, but really, I tried hard to like these. The fit is just bad.Second, the angle of the plugs seems wrong. I can't get them to seal and stay sealed. The angle on the band seems not to be right to aim them correctly down the ear canal. I tried it in dozens of different positions and never could get them to seal consistently.Third, the plugs don't seal well. So, given all the above problems, I thought maybe I could take these plugs off and put them on a band from one of my old sets, a band that did fit. The plugs are removable (to replace, I assume) so I swapped them out, thinking at least I'd get some use out of them. They did fit on the band and did a little bit better, but still did not seal well. I even tried them with NO band, just shoved them in my ears. They sealed better that way, but didn't want to stay in, and frankly, without a post or something to pull them out, I didn't want to go jamming them down in my ears too far. Occasionally I could get a good seal with one ear, but it usually would break at some point as I moved around. When just sitting on outside of the ear, partially sealing but not completely sealed as they seem always to end up, they don't reduce sound much at all. Unfortunately, I never could get them to consistently seal to get appropriate level of sound reduction with ANY of the things I tried. In that respect, they are not just uncomfortable and frustrating, they fail as a safety device. That's not cool.I kept trying them out when I wasn't using powertools just to try to figure them out, but after about 15min ended up switching them out for others that did work when I needed to use a tool. Then I'd try again later that day. Trusty me, I tried them out many, many times, hoping to finally figure out how to make them work for me. After a bit over a week, I finally gave up. I really, really, REALLY did want to like these. But basically my opinion of these is a grossly failed attempt to implement a great idea.Amazon said they would process a return/refund, so kudos to Amazon. I don't like returning things if I can make them work - it's not like these were broken in shipping or anything. They are just a product designed so poorly I can't make them work for me. If I'd bought these from Wally-world, I'd have taken them back in a day or two. 1GREAT HEARING PPE - COMFORTABLE! UNFORTUNATELY POOR ASSEMBLY QC - THEY BREAKGreat hearing protection PPE. Unfortunately they are poorly made. Glad I bought a bunch because basically I go though one each month. They break in one of two ways. 1) they break at the very bottom because the two halves are poorly bonded together. 2) the plastic post for the silicone pods break off for the same reason... Manufacturing defect. Bought these from Safety Works and Radians - same issues with both. But for the time they do work they are very comfortable and keep most of the noise out. They are not canal caps because the red silicone tips enter your ears.I have complained to the manufacturer or distributors but my complaints "fall on deaf ears". This is the only company that supplies silicone ear plugs on a band for your neck 3Excellent Easy Ear ProtectionThese earplugs offer excellent hearing protection while working construction. The biggest benefit is that they easily clip around your neck when you are not wearing them, making it easy to pop them in your ears just before you grab for the saw or the nail gun. Construction equipment is loud and running it without hearing protection damages your hearing. And let's face it, unless it takes about one second to locate and put on your hearing protection, it's not going to happen. Some of the other reviewers mentioned durability. I had a pair for a year before they broke, and just bought two replacement pairs. They are a few bucks and easy to replace. Also the gel ear inserts are comfortable and easy to clean. Highly recommended product. 5Good buyGreat for cheek weld. 5Good noise blockers but hurt. These hurt inside my ears. They do absolutely block the noise. GREAT FOR BLOCKING NOISE. I work under heavy machinery but they are painful to me. Maybe I have big head. Not trying to be funny. I considered trimming down the ear plug part. Then I just discarded. I bought some cheap ear buds n cut the cord stuffed the hole with tissue. It's enough to dull the noise some. 3Ears on. Range is hot.A bit tight, but that's probably because of my big head...lol. ;) I do like the soft silicone ear pieces and the fact that you get an extra pair with the purchase. Arrive on time in about a week. Haven't worn these for long periods yet, so I don't know if the pressure is enough to cause pain, but it definitely works for a little spur of the moment plinking. 4Best option so farSuper convenientThe gel stays clean while all the nasty stuff sticks to the foam pairsImpossible to loose (very important)Comfort is adequateRelatively cheaphowever, after a few months they do begin to split down the seam in back and break.I bought 5 pairs last time and will likely buy them again, however i am currently content with my 500pk of ear plugs 4Not my cup of tea...The gel plugs on these do not fit well in my ears and after having jammed them in hard enough to block sound they do not provide enough attenuation to suit my needs. They also work loose and then I loose all attenuation. It may be just my ear shape but I suspect the material they are made from transmits too much sound. 2
