Customer Reviews

Good Water Filter, With A Very Bad Usage IndicatorThe filter works fine, and the water tastes good. I have no problem with PUR filters themselves. However the PUR unit is a definite mistake on the part of PUR. My old unit with bar graph for usage worked fine, but after many years of use it began to leak. So I replaced it with the new PUR unit with LED indicator. But the indicator is basically worthless. The instructions says a filter is good for 100 gallons, however the LED turns RED after only 15 gallons, which according to the instructions means I am supposed to replace the filter. The unit is obviously all wrong. I would suggest replacing the filter after a year or if the water no longer tastes as good. BUT DON'T PAY ANY ATTENTION TO THE USAGE LED INDICATOR, IT IS NEVER RIGHT. PUR needs to fix their system it is obviously flawed. 3Worst Customer Service If You Can Call It That Ever!I have been using the Pur faucet filter for years and never had a problem. But then, I had an issue. I called Pur s customer service and was told someone would get back to me. No one did. I called again, and the lady told me that Henry would call me back that day. Guess what? Henry did not call me back. No one did. I asked to speak to a supervisor. You ll never guess who the supervisor is. Yup: Henry. So now, months later, I have had no response from Pur, and I have a piece I spent more than $30.00 on and stinky water inn my kitchen. I would never, ever buy anything from this company, Pur, not even if they started selling gold for $1.00 a pound. What a huge disappointment to find this company, which I one thought was a legitimate company turns out to be not much more than a phone in a closet with not just one layer of support, but one person running what is surely sarcastically called customer service. 1Just get it from wally worldCompletely defective. Probably a knock-off. The packaging all looked legitimate and it installed as usual but it provided no filtering at all. Water shot out under force. Tried the second one, same thing. PUR logo was missing on the actual cartridge. The box looked a little different but otherwise had high quality printing and the cartridge was in the gold foil wrapper. Junk.Amazon has no way to return knock-offs and it isn't worth my time. 1Yes, water has taste, and this filter provides itNo, you can't magically put a filter into your water line. Yes, you have to buy the filter mount for it. But these filters are worth it.So what gives about water? It has no flavor! Wrong!! It does have flavor and that flavor comes from the minerals found within the water. That's why tap water from different regions have different tastes. The Pur filter filters out certain minerals that I find to be a little harsher. What are they? I don't know. But the water has a softer feel to it and has a cleaner taste. This is why I trust Pur filters, and this one in particular. And now, a lesson in water. Do you buy bottled water thinking it's better than tap? Think again! Laws require that public water sources be tested frequently (usually daily). Some cities like Austin, Texas test their water several times a day, every day. They test for parasites and bacteria and viruses. Bottled water companies do not have to suffer that burden. Even worse, they usually steal water from local water supplies and re-sell it to the public for exorbitant amounts of money. Then they label the water "Artisan" or "glacier" or "mountain fresh." It's all nonsense. There are a few exceptions but those opinions are not for here. Not only do these companies steal water but the oil needed for the plastic bottles is ridiculous. Here's what I do. Yes, I'm guilty of buying certain brands of bottled water. However, I re-use those bottles by filling it with my filtered water at home. If I'm lucky enough to remember, I'll use a stainless steel thermos to take water with me.Make sure you drink plenty of water. Make sure you do it responsibly. This Pur filter will help you with both. 5You will see reviews with 5 stars. Please read before you buy. There s no return so just read!!This is the first review I ve ever written and I m doing it because this really needs to be put out there. This is a terrible product. Plain and simple. It claims to last 4-6 months but after a month it gets clogged and water does not come out of it so you have to replace. I had 3 of these filters and bought them on December and already went through all three now I have to buy a new filter. I would understand if it happened to just one of the filters but it happened to all three. This ain t no malfunction or coincidence just a terrible product with false advertisement. Also has no return so you re stuck with it. I let the reviews influence me and I m truly disappointed. I have never bought such a disappointing product and would really hope people would start writing the truth about these filters so people like me would stop losing their money. Don t make the same mistake I made because you will regret it. The product is great for a week after that less and less water comes out. 1Reset card in the filter chamberThere have been a LOT of complaints about the indicator light not working after changing the filter, including my own! Quite by accident, I found a RESET inside the front of the chamber where the filter fits. It is similar to a SIM card. Press it, and it will pop out. Press it back in, and the light resets! IDK if this is a good fix, but it worked for me! 4Don't waste your money!I don't know if these filters are defective or not but I bought the twin pack but didn't install rite away. I received them last, Friday 8/18 but just installed them today, Wednesday 8/23 (Yes, both. I'll explain later).Well after I installed the new filter into my PUR faucet filtration unit it still blinked red. I let it run the full 5 mins and didn't think anything of it. Later my son reminded me to change the filter because he noticed it blink red when he got a glass of water. So after telling him I already did I then proceeded to double check it was installed properly, which I've now found out you can't install these backwards. So I reluctantly opened the 2nd filter and installed that one. To my shock it still blinked red. Even after the 5 min rinse. I figured I'd give it a few minutes to maybe reset or something and tried again. Still blinked red! I went on Pur's website and downloaded the user manual and it states that when you take the old filter out it resets automatically. So now I'm suspecting these are just bad filters and it's a coincidence that they are both defective. However I don't believe in coincidences.. I then checked the filters and noticed it looks like the filter units themselves were actually opened up, maybe refurbished and then resealed. There's what looks like scrape marks and glue all over the place. I can't describe how infuriated I am. I'm calling Amazon after I finish this review. I just wanted to let others know so they don't spend their hard earned money on defective products! 1PUR JUNK THAT'S WHAT THESE ARE.I bought these filters last year. Since I had a box of filters already opened I put these two way till needed them. Finally opened the box and used the first one. It was only good for a month. Water stoped running through it, the green light was still flashing. I replaced it with the second new one and after two weeks the same happened. The light still flashing green but but no water coming out at all. These are defective. The box says PUR but there's nothing on the filters marked PUR. THESE ARE FAKE. JUNK. 1Don't buy no really a PUR product. How do I get a refund? I bought these because it was advertised as being a product from PUR. They are not the ones I received were knockoffs. This company tried to be slick and put it in a PUR legitimate package, however you could tell the filters themselves are not from PUR. I tried the filters anyways and you can tell it's not even filtering the water because the water pressure is way to strong after going through the filter as compared to an actual PUR filter. The other dead give away is that the markings are different from a PUR filter. I probably would have chalked it up to just a bad purchase if I knew these were not actually PUR filters, but because they are intentionally sold to be thought PUR filters is the problem. This is disgusting of this company! now to try to get a refund. I'm sure that's going to be easy (sarcasm) 1Are these used filters?I bought these filters and when I went to open the package I saw that it didn t look right. Then I pulled the old filter out and (they're heavier after being used) the new one was just as heavy as the old one. When I put it in the purifier the light was still red. The water smelled like moldy water. 1
