    It works...Read me if you are interested in Region free: Any DVD player that states it is code free should be. DO NOT assume that yourDVD will magically work as soon as you pop in in.. You MUST open the little pamphlet and check out how to change the codes manually. There are 4 or 5 different codes used throughout the world and it's up to you to program the coding needed for your DVD's. We have my husbands movie collection from Italy and we are happy to say that they all play perfectly! 5Couldn't get it to work.I returned this DVD player to Amazon for a refund because as hard as I tried, I couldn't get it to work properly. I could get the volume, but not the picture. The directions that came with the machine were of no help because they didn't match the actual player model. They said to "push the Fast Forward button on the DVD player" as part of the initial set-up, but there was NO Fast Forward button on the machine I received. I have set up many, many DVD players before -- including several zone-free ones -- and I never spent so much time trying to get any of them to work. And with the previous ones I was always successful, but how to get this one going was beyond me. I do NOT recommend this zone-free dvd player. 1Great for Region free -- not so good for KaraokeMy primary purpose for purchasing this player is to watch British videos. This replaces an old Daewoo player that had recently died. This player does a much better job with playing these videos. We had a lot of difficulty with the old player getting the voice and video to sync up. This player is right on the money. The picture is significantly better then the old Daewoo.What wasn't clear prior our purchasing this player is that it doesn't play CDG Karaoke CDs. The manual does list it doesn't play these files -- but none of the marketing material I could find says this. The device comes with a mic jack but it is unclear what kind of Karaoke it will play, if any. I'm only familiar with the CDG style karaoke. So this was a big disappointment. 4USB is great.Lovely dvd player. USB is great. 5
