    Perfect fit for my 6" recessed cans Perfect fit for my 6" recessed cans. The picture instructions aren't that clear, but the installation process is very simple. 1.) Remove the old bulb. 2.) Remove the old trim ring parts until you just have the can opening. 2.) Unplug the socket adapter from the new LED bulb/trim - orange clip pulls apart. This is only to make it easier to screw in the socket adapter without the entire LED part flopping around as you screw. 3.) Grab the LED bulb/trim part and plug it back into the socket adapter. 4.) Shove the wires into the housing and press one side of the metal wing (spring part) on the top side of the LED/trim into the housing first. It should be at an angle so that the opposite metal wing is not yet pressed into the housing. 4.) Pop in the the opposite metal wing into the housing by pressing slightly on each side of the wing with 2 fingers as your thumbs press up from the bottom. This will release a bit of tension so that there will be less pressure from the metal wing against the side of the housing. Stop pressing with your fingers and let your fingers go before you run out of room and let the wing press back agains the housing wall. The wings will then be tight enough to press up any remaining gap between the LED/trim and ceiling. The LED/trim should now be flush against the ceiling. 5PerfectExactly what I wanted. They were a perfect match to the other ones previously purchased from another store. The lighting was soft white, which I was not sure of from the description.5Great The worlds most easiest installation. I did 12 of these in my kitchen in under 30 minutes. Getting them out of the box is the hardest part 5Excellent lighting at a good price.These are great. Easy to install and the light is very similar to the old flood lights I was using. They are definitely instant on. The light itself also doesn't look weird or anything. I replaced all the recessed lights in my kitchen with these (4). They may be a little brighter than my flood lights were but I actually prefer that. After a day or two, I didn't even notice any more. I have not used any with a dimmer so I can not say anything about that. Shop around though. I got a 4 pack on a daily deal from Home Depot for half price at $65 (wish I could get that again) and then got 2 more from Amazon for $17.97 each with free shipping. Don't pay the reglar price at Lowes or Home depot of close to $30 each. They say these will last 40,000 hours so I will not be able to tell you if that is true for about 30 years. In my opinion, there is no need to make it so tight and knife like. My existing opening is 6in. I wish the edge is a bit wider to cover a bit more of the ceiling openings. What else could you ask for?5Great option for LED retrofit in a 6" housingI've tested several brands of the retro fit LED kits and found this one to be the best all around solution. LEDs lamps can be tricky in their rendition of color. 2700K is the closest to traditional incandescent lamps and this Phillips fixture replicates that color pretty well. Some of the others have a strange color that is just a little off. I believe the comparison on the wattage is a little conservative as the are very bright, though not harsh. To compare with a traditional recessed light, you have to be mindful of the type of lamp that is being replaced. The output of this fixture will be closer to that of a PAR lamp (flood) than that of a traditional medium base A-lamp (normal "light bulb"). The installation is very simple, though the design of the spring clips present a challenge to get the trim ring tight to the ceiling, though not impossible. So far I've installed 13 of these.5Not very dimmableI've been searching for a dimmable retrofit lamp and so far have not found one that works like a halogen. They only seem to dim part way. With this one when I lower the dimmer the LED dims from 100% down to 50% then shuts off. Same thing happens when I turn it on, it jumps from 0% to 50% then increases up to 100%. I've tried some dimmable LED bulbs and had mixed results too but some work fine and will dim all the way from 100% down to 0% and back up just like a halogen but there are fewer choices on retrofit kits. The search continues...3Do Not Work with Progress Lighting Cans Wanted to like these Phillips retrofit LED recessed lights that were to be used abover shower stall in bath rooms. Been happy consumer of several dozen Phillips LED bulbs installed throught the rest of our house. Unfortunately, these cans do not fit in our existing Progress Lighting cans due to long spring clips in the cans. Check the construction of your existing cans before purchasing and maybe save yourself a headache. 3
