Customer Reviews

Watch out if you're not a touch typerSeems sturdy, the size is right for my application (Internal keyboard for an arcade MAME machine).Trackball is a little weird to get used to, but once you do, it's not too weird. Due to sensitivity, you have to use two hands around the trackball, right thumb rolls the ball, left thumb left clicks. This can be kind of awkward when standing and holding your keyboard at your waist, but it's certainly doable. The thing that they don't seem to mention is that while the product description says "English Layout", the actual product shipped to me was German/Austrian layout, meaning that it's not a QWERTY keyboard, it's a QWERTZ keyboard. Since I'm running an English (American) OS, the keys still work the same way, but if I had to look at it while I was typing instead of touch-typing, this keyboard would be useless to me. Perhaps this was a mispick at the warehouse, or perhaps it's simply incorrect product information. Either way, I'm not mad, but you should be aware of this before you buy.2Professional GradeA professional-grade small keyboard. I needed real key-mappings, particularly prt-scrn/sysrq because they're for a Linux server. I checked the other small keyboards, they lacked this key. They're about as small as you can get & still type comfortably, and the built-in trackball saves room. Perhaps they aren't the least expensive compact keyboard, but considering a trackball alone is $25, well worth the price.4Complete package in a small keyboardAs an engineer in the automation industry, I highly recommend this for those in the same situation as I am. My industrial PC only has one USB port left and I need to hold the keyboard while standing with an USB flash drive and wireless internet adapter attached in the USB hub. My only complaint is the mouse left click. Quite often, my right thumb would accidentally bump into the trackball right before I click on the left button, causing the pointer to move away from my target. There are two solutions that Perixx can use for future designs. Either put the two mouse buttons together to the right of the trackball or put the left click button on the top left edge of the keyboard.4Medium power KeyboardPerixx makes some powerful keyboards with additional usb ports included. This model that I purchased did not have these features. They could have probably reduced the power consumption by removing the lights but the keyboard works. I use it via otg cable with my samsung galaxy 6, my kindle fire hd and my fire tv 4k. The trackball works well with the galaxy and the kindle but is a little fast with the 4k and will take getting used to.The keyboard is comfortable with slightly raised keys.5Love the touch, wish it lasted longer....Like another previous reviewer, I am a court reporter, so I do a LOT of typing, heavy, near daily use. LOVE the keyboard touch, key size, responsiveness. I bought this to overlay the keyboard on my 2015 HP Envy laptop, which i LOATHE beyond words. The keys are unwieldy and hard to press. I just put this over the top, and type away!!!! So that's for the good....now the bad. I have only had the dang thing for 5 months, and there's some short in the wire. I get this ba-DUNK randomly when I'm typing, and it quits working, which means there's a disconnect at the USB port, which works fine for other add-ons. Oh, well, beautiful typing for 5 months. I'm off to find a good wireless........3Works really good So far This keyboard is better than I expected. It is small but has full size keys. Mouseroller works pretty good. Takes a bit to get used to, but so far glad I purchased it.I use it with my laptop because of the heat, electro-static discharges that the laptop putsout, as well as the wireless signals and I do not want my hands always on there thelaptop.5/5/2013 update: This keyboard worked well for about 1year, but it does not work anymore. Thetrackball was not working and now keyboad not getting power. 3Good feeling keyboard, but read the comments on trackball before buying.OK, so I am loving this keyboard in most ways. I love the dedicated numeric keypad, helpful as I test screen readers. I am typically a keyboard-oriented user, and the typing feel is definite, without mushiness. But the design of the trackball does pose challenges. I am not a big fan of trackball on the right, buttons on the left, but the placement of the right and left buttons is problematic, as others note. I am mostly wrapping my hand around the right corner and moving the ball with my thumb and pressing the left mouse button with my forefinger. The trackball isn't as sensitive as some others have commented, but the manufacturer may have responded to feedback. That wraparound technique is probably only manageable for someone with smaller hands, and it might not be manageable if the keyboard is in a drawer for rack-mounted systems, etc.. If I had larger hands, I could cup my hand over the numeric keypad and press the left mouse button with my forefinger and roll the ball with my middle finger. Overall, though, this keyboard is going to work best for people who aren't using a pointing device a lot. That being said, I like it better than the Adesso it's replacing. Kudos, too, for including an Applications key, when many keyboards omit them, which is hard on assistive technology users.4Pretty useful for older computersNeeded this for an old Windows XP system At first the computer had trouble identifying and installing the right driver, it kept insisting it couldn't recognize the device. After rebooting 3 times it somehow started working. The keyboard is pretty lightweight, the keypads themselves feel pretty good but overall feels a bit flimsy. The trackball works well except it feels a little loose. This product would be the best if the mouse key buttons were on opposite ends of the keyboard so I don't have to scrunch my hands towards the top right of the keyboard to use the trackball. Would be easier just to move the trackball with my right thumb and left click with my left thumb or index on the left side of the keyboard, and right click with my right thumb/index on the ride side also and not right next to the trackball. But as it is, using the trackball feels annoying.4Fits My Needs I needed to replace an older HP keyboard and a Logitech track ball. They were old enough they were malfunctioning. I'm not a typist or gamer, just a one finger typing internet browsing and e-mail and Facebook user. I like the Perixx Periboard-505H Plus keyboard for it's size and also for having the trackball on the keyboard. I have always preferred trackballs to mice. I'm using Windows XP- service pack 3. They keyboard worked right away with no problems(no manual included but if I can figure it out any one can). After adjusting the pointer speed the trackball works just fine for me. Not having professional needs this keyboard does the job at a great price and quality seems good also. Shipping was good and item arrived in great shape. I have no qualms about buying Perixx products again.Update:03/18/2013, Trackball on keyboard failed and have replaced it with a Microsoft 800 wireless keyboard/mouse combination. It's too bad, I liked the size and function of the Perixx keyboard until it failed. 5Very nice wired remote keyboardI've been using this keyboard for several months, and no complaints except for one little one: the cable is hard-wired into the keyboard instead of being a removable jack type of cable.Other than that, this keyboard is a gem, for many reasons: One, it is wired. I'm trying to cut down on wireless exposure and all the health issues that go with it. All aces for that. Two, it has this cool little track ball in the upper right corner so that you don't have to keep leaning over to operate your computer's touchpad or the like. Three, the keys are nicely spaced and comfortable to use. Four, it travels pretty well for a non-folding keyboard. I've taken it on several trips, and it has proven itself time and again.Highly recommended!5Keyboard works fine, trackball is tricky to use No complaints about the keyboard, works fine. I have it mounted to an LCD on an arm where it's used as a server monitor on a KVM. The problem with this unit is the trackball (about 5/8" diameter, small) is VERY light with no resistance, and it's hard to use it accurately. With the positioning of it, it is obviously designed for one-handed operation, except it is nearly impossible to lift your thumb from the trackball (say to press a button) without the cursor moving. If the ball was weighted at all it would help considerably. If this item got anything more than very occasional use, I would have to replace it with the trackpad version that I am sure would be MUCH more usable. I ended up adding a regular mouse at this point as the trackball is virtually unusable. 3Trackball is manageable. My old Logitech wireless keyboard was reacting slowly to key presses. I decided to trial wired smaller keyboard. This Perriboard-505H Plus works well. Initially the trackball was very touchy and difficult. I typed pointer speed into the Cortana window. The Mouse Properties window opened. I was able to select a slower pointer speed and enhance pointer precision. If you click on the pointers tab you can change the size and make it easier to see the pointer as well. These changes made the trackball and left and right click more manageable. Overall the keyboard has been a successful experiment.4keyboard for small spacesIn the past we've had an older KVM switch in our server rack with a regular keyboard and mouse. Over time the KVM required replacing, and this keyboard with a trackball fits nicely. Both mouse and keyboard with only one USB that can be plugged directly into the front of the server we want to control. I would like to have the trackball on the right where it is, but the buttons moved to the left corner of the keyboard, but it won't be used much and works well when needed. I would recommend.4
