Great travel cameraI just received the camera and have not yet used it extensively, only made some test pictures. I bought the camera for its 1" sensor and Leica 10 times optical zoom lens and small physical size. The camera has a ton of features. I am not sure I will use any but the basic ones that have served me well over the years. Not rating it 5 stars because the camera lacks a swiveling LCD screen. Also the evf is a bit small and just OK. I wish the lens were brighter at the telephoto end and the f stop higher to perhaps 16. But I realize the trade off is in the modest price and small body. It is also unseemly for Panasonic not to include a charger in the box. The great thing about this camera is that, from a third party, there is available a filter adapter that allows the use of polarizer, nd filters, etc. This is essential for landscape photography. And it works well on this camera. The Focus camera bag is great. It can be carried on my belt. The extra battery and the memory card are appreciated. I wish Focus would include a charger instead of the other items. Overall, it is a good package.=============================I just used the camera to take July 4th fireworks. I set it to the manual mode. f stop at 8. ISO at 150. Focus, manual, at close to infinity. The shuttle speed at Bulb. The camera sits of a tripod. I used the Panasonic iPhone Wi-Fi App to remotely turn the shuttle on and then few seconds later off. It worked well. Noise is acceptable. I am happy with the performance. See a sample attached.4I already have the Panasonic FZ1000 and I love it. When I saw thisWe never, ever check a bag, and we travel a lot. I already have the Panasonic FZ1000 and I love it. When I saw this, and I knew I needed a backup camera, this selection seemed to hit the spot. The operation and guts are similar to the FZ1000, and the small form factor fits our travel packing perfectly. The selection of items were decent and included a padded wrist strap that was not on the list shown. The SD card was correct in its writing speed. The batteries work well. I like this camera because you can charge from an external battery, but I wont have to, with the extra batteries. I typically shoot aperture priority or manual, and so far so good. It arrived from the seller faster than promised. It can zoom out to 2000 if you get the picture size small enough, but the 250 mm should do. It does shoot RAW and super fine JPG. One star off because the anti-shake does not seem as robust as the FZ1000 (could be the smaller size, compensated for by faster SS), and the writing to the SD card does not seem quite as fast. It does shoot 4k video pretty easily. I also have not been able to find filters yet, but I am searching. Overall an excellent backup mirrorless camera that can shoot with a wide variety of settings. I have not had the trouble with the viewfinder knob that others have had. I did put a screen protector on the 3" viewfinder, because it does not flip over like the FZ1000.Edit- The included software does edit JPG photos, but it does not edit RW2 Raw photos taken with the DMC-ZS100. Specifically this is Corel Aftershot 2. I am not sure that Aftershot 3 will even edit photos taken with this camera. Here are the supported cameras from Panasonic after downloading the most recent update on the Corel website. DMC-GM1, DMC-GX7, L1, L10, LF1, LX1, LX2, LX3, LX5, LX7, LX100, FZ8, FZ18, FZ28, FZ30, FZ35, FZ38, FZ40, FZ45, FZ50, FZ150, FZ200, FZ1000, G1, G2, G3, G5, G6, G10, GF1, GF2, GF3, GF5, GF6, GH1, GH2, GH3, GH 4, GM1, GM5, GX1, GX7, TZ60, ZS40. Still a 4 star because the software failure is not a big enough problem to lose a star. I will probably just use Lightroom. This camera may be so new, the file type has not been added, but I would have thought it would have been identical to the FZ1000. Uploading some jpgs taken recenlly. The RAW files do open in the included Paintshop Pro 7.4Great camera but control buttons are too close to on/off switchI upgraded from an early model Lumix to this, really for the sole purpose of being able to save larger size files, but wowser, the photo quality is so much better. The colors are perfect, meaning accurately reflecting the colors of the original. My only gripe, and reason I downgraded from 5 to 4 stars, is that some of the controls are too close to the on/off switch and I'm repeatedly hitting them unintentionally and I don't have big hands.The other thing... I didn't find in the instructions was how to transfer pics to my computer, and it was only by chance that I figured out that the same usb outlet and cord used for recharging the camera through the computer, if you wait the camera screen will change from the charging screen to the pic/computer connection screen. I do very much like that the camera screen is a touch screen too. The much older version didn't have tbis....but then again, it also didn't have so many buttons right by the on switch.4Excellent camera and a nice bundleThe Lumix DMC-ZS100 is the best travel camera currently available. It is the only travel camera with a 1" sensor and a 10x zoom. It also shoots excellent 4k video.This bundle comes with a fast 64gig SD card, 2 extra batteries, an external charger, and a nice camera case that will hold the camera, the extra batteries, and the charger. I wasn't too impressed by the paper manual as it lacked much how to information. So far I have only used the "Intelligent Auto and Panoramic modes" . I'm very happy with my purchase.5Problems with autofocusAt first this camera was amazing, awesome picture quality. I noticed some photos were out of focus when I first started taking them but I attributed it to me learning how to use this new camera. Now, after using it regularly for a few months, the autofocus is all but worthless. Only one out of every 10 photos will be in focus. What's the point of having a camera if it takes crap photos? I have had to resort to using manual focus which is not easy to use on this type of camera. I am going to call Panasonic to find out what options they have regarding fixing the problem, but I would shy away from this new model until they have a fix. I have now read reviews where other people are having issues with the autofocus as well.2Excellent camera. Came with caseExcellent camera. Too expensive for that.I bought it because it had lots of additional MANUAL features for special purposes, but you have to be a tech wizard to understand how to use them. Once you do, the image sharpness is disappointing, likely due to the small sensor size. Nice zoom ratio. As a basic point and shoot camera it does the job, but cheaper cameras will do that as well.2Newer isn't always better.I purchased a Canon Power Shot SD12000 IS camera in 2009. I found it to be very easy to use and it gave me excellent photos. I purchased this Panasonic camera because of its 1" sensor and a lens zoom range I was looking for. But the edges are not crisp and the focus seems to be a little "off" Until I can figure out what is happening with this camera, I'm going to use the Canon camera more often. With its smaller sensor it produces betters pictures, and without that quirky memory/battery cover door. It's smaller, lighter and more comfortable in my hands and was $400 cheaper than the Panasonic.2Not as advertisedTakes great pics, kind of. The apeture adjustment just isn't as adverstised. The sensor does allow for great picture quality. I've had several issues - screen going black for no reason and flash refusing to turn on and after 90 minutes on hold with Panasonic, I still haven't resolved either issue. I'm regretting not just getting a newer version on my Nikon S9700 for half the price. I'd keep looking for a pocket camera.... this one isn't all it's cracked up to be and Panasonic support is useless.3
