Customer Reviews

Needed for the newer VR II 18-55mm lens I ordered a cheaper model of a lens hood and it didn't fit. It was for the older model Nikkor lens. It wasn't worth the bother to return it, since it only cost about $6. This one was ordered after checking Nikon specifications for accessories and it fits my 18-55mm F3.5-5.6G VR II AF-S DX lens perfectly. It even fits on backwards for packing and the lens can be used when the hood is in the storage position. No more need to put the hood in my pocket. The product is genuine Nikon and it arrived very promptly. 5Definitely worth it EXACTLY what I wanted! I ve been shooting for over a year and a half and always debated buying a lens hood. Idk if I was being cheap or what, but I decided to go ahead and buy this last week. Works great, just make sure you read your camera lens size correctly because I ordered one before this one and it didn t fit. 5Snaps into place, cuts glare, protects lens One of the main reasons I bought this was to prevent anything from touching the camera lens, which It definitely does.It attached well to my d3300, and satisfyingly snaps into place.Unlike a non-Nikon lens hood that I tried previously, it is not visible with my stock lens when fully zoomed out.The "tulip" flares out a little away from the camera, but is still narrow enough to fit into my camera bag.Would give five stars if it felt a bit more rugged, but I expect it to hold up plenty well. 4Nice Loose hood Very surprising that an original Nikon hood would fit so loose. Maybe $5.00 knock off is good enough. Disappointing. This is a revised review. The lens hood was loose because it needs to be snapped in at the end of the twist. It is very hard to snap into, but with a little force it will snap into it's final place. Many people may not know this. Just FYI. 5Right off the bat this does not fit the 18-55 ... Right off the bat this does not fit the 18-55 DX VR. After manipulating a fit for 30 minutes returned it in 5 min. Besides it would not be reversible.Foot note on value this is $24.00.+ tax, for a piece if plastic from an third world country that may have cost $2 to bring here - Really Nikon.Going to look at some generic lens hoods. 1This fits perfectly on the Nikon lens it was designed ... This fits perfectly on the Nikon lens it was designed for, AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR II. This fits perfectly and not only protects the lens from flairs, but damage as well. I keep a lens cap leash on all my lens, so even if this should ever come loose, it will not get lost because it can only slide so far.. 5Expensive, but... It's a bit expensive, but fits the 18-55mm VR II perfectly. When screwing it backwards the lens unlock button will be fully accessible. Had other crappy hoods that caused vignetting, finally got the right one. Don't waste your money on other hoods. 4Fits much better than the cheap aftermarket lens hoods. I've tried a coupe of different cheap aftermarket lens hoods, and all of them suffered from the same problem. They fall off at the slightest touch. I was hesitant to purchase a genuine Nikon HB-69 Lens Hood because I think it's way overpriced. I decided to give in and purchase it though because my other ones were practically useless. I'm happy with the purchase. It fits much better and doesn't fall off on its own. It is overpriced, but it does its job. 4Doesn't fit snuggly on my 18-55mm lens. Maybe this one has a defect. I am surprised this loose this lens hood is on my 18-55mm lens. It simply pops off when I try to turn it; it fits better when it is on backwards. I have never used one on this lens so the ring is not worn. It's to much of a hassle to return it so I am going to bite my tongue and hope for a replacement. It otherwise is a quality product. 3I like it and serves its purpose very well. This lens hood fit my lens perfectly. Stays very secure when mounted. I like that it can be reversed on the lens so it doesn't protrude when I put it in my camera bag. It is wide enough on the inside diameter to easily put on and take off the lens cap. It fits over lens filters with no problems. 5
