Customer Reviews

Nice mallet The Narex mallet is very well made, has a nice finish, and felt good in the hand when I used it this weekend. The seller, Taylor Toolworks, emailed me when the item shipped and offered assistance if I had any questions or concerns. Overall, a good purchase experience and a good product. 5... using this for a couple of months and I love it. It is lightweight I've been using this for a couple of months and I love it. It is lightweight, but heavy enough to drive my chisels safely and comfortably. I like the wide face and that I can hit wood pieces straight on without too much worry of marring the finish. The only thing that I am sad about is that over time I have made dents in the mallet, marring the beautiful finish, but better on the mallet than on my work piece. 5Your basic cave-man tool. 100% what I expected. Nicely made for a reasonable price. Other tool manufacturers blow a lot of sales fluff in your face trying to elevate what is basically a cave-man tool into the rocket-science category at corresponding prices. Don't fall for it...this is all you need. 5Seems like great quality for the price. Very impressed thus far with this mallet. I was tempted to spend almost 2x on another brand, but ended up going with this one. I really can't imagine any ways that I could ask this model to be improved. The handle is the perfect thickness for my hand (average adult male) and has great balance with the mallet head. The head seems to be secured very well out of the box; I believe it is glued as well as secured by the handle end splitting shim. I could buy this style of mallet with a flat face because I use Stanley 750 chisels with a very rounded handle butt. I might make one end of this mallet rounded/convex at some point for use with tools that have more flattened contact surfaces. 5NIcely made, but small and light This is a nicely made mallet, but it's not very big. It's 16 oz, but the entire mallet weighs 15 oz ( I weighted it). Usually a hammer has, say, a 16oz head. The mass is all in the head of the hammer and the handle is additional weight. That's not the case here.Specs: 15.2 oz, handle: 8 7/8"L, Overall 10 7/8"L, head is 4 1/4"W x ~3"H x ~2 1/4"Deep. Made in Czech Republic. 3I've used this mallet now on several types of tools ... I've used this mallet now on several types of tools with a considerable amount of force - with very little wear. A few knicks here and there but that's expected when you aren't hitting the tools perfectly perpendicular. 5I am so happy I did I am a hobbyist woodworker and this was my first mallet to go along with my chisels. It took me a long time and reading lots of reviews before I decided on this one. I am so happy I did. It is of superb quality, feels great in your hand. Shipping was fast and the mallet is awesome! Thanks! 5Very comfortable and well balanced I have been using this mallet for about a year. All corners/edges are rounded nicely, making it very comfortable for me to hold for long wood chopping/paring sessions. The mallet has held up well.Another good tool from a good manufacturer.EDIT: After re-sanding to round the edges more, and finishing with BLO, this is my go-to bench mallet for chiseling. So comfortable. At 16oz, I consider it the perfect weight for fine chisel work. I also have the Thor mallet, but continually reach for this one instead. With it's wide (but not too wide) face, I'm guaranteed to hit my target every time. 5Really nice mallet This is a quality tool, and I really like that there isn't a factory finish applied. I sanded it lightly and put my first coat of linseed oil on it and the wood soaked it right up. 5Great Wooden Mallet Love this mallet. Perfect weight, and comfortable handle. Was a little worried about the head being made of multiple pieces of wood, but after two months of chiseling it's still as sturdy as when I received it. 5
