Customer Reviews

Not the best if you mainly view the pictures via Mobile instead of physically taking out cardCamera is pretty big and noticeable. My main problem with it is that if you hook it up to Moultrie Mobile ,the Panaroamic pictures are very unclear. I have tried using different browsers of the App but it must not be formatted to accommodate panoramic style. If you take the memory card out and put it in a laptop it is pretty clear. Night photos are not great. If you want to see night ones I would recommend stealth cam. 4Great Concept But Absolute DisappointmentMaybe I'm extremely unlucky with this camera model, but I believe it's simply terrible quality control. I've tried three and they've all been defective. I had good luck with two of Moultrie's 150i cameras so I was excited to see the 180i with three fixed cameras. Noticeable improvements from the 150i to the 180i: operation is completely silent, battery life is much longer, and the pictures are pieced together more seamlessly. As pointed out by other reviewers, the only design flaw I saw was that the SD memory card is very difficult to remove. First, I'll point out that I used all three 180i cameras straight out of the box, with new AA batteries, in their simplest mode of operation: Quick Start. Two of the three cameras performed as expected for a couple of days and then they QUIT for no apparent reason! I missed capturing a bear destroying our bird feeder and pole TWICE! The third camera took numerous pictures for a two week period, but I was disgusted to learn that its two left cameras had such distorted pictures that they were worthless. Its right, third camera did fine, but its quality wasn't as good as the other working cameras. I'm going to pay more and try a Reconyx at this point. Boy I'm gonna miss the panoramic shots, but what good are they if the camera fails? 1I really love the three-way camera setupI need to order a couple more of these cameras! I really love the three-way camera setup. It allows me to get more angles with less camera units! Its seemingly quick and the video is nice. The only complaint is one I've read before and that is the poor night performance. This unit is no exception. The lights or glow which ever it uses doesn't have a long range. Anything further than say 6ft probably isn't going to show up on the night footage. I even tried one of Moultrie's flash extenders on the forward camera location and I can't tell a difference...not sure if the extender even works. Now with that said, I still love the camera. If you need a night vision, I would look into something like their M888/M999/M40's. I have really good luck with those units. I actually have decent night range with the P150i oddly enough but its day footage is seriously lacking in quality...really bad chromatic abrasions but I bought the unit refurbished. Anyhow, I need to buy at least one more to help cover a large area. 5I was pleased with the 150 and 150i because they captured more ...I have 6 game cameras that have taken over 3,000 photos of mountain lions, bobcat, fox, deer etc. in a very remote area over a period of three years. I started with the Moultrie 150 and then bought two 150i cameras. I was pleased with the 150 and 150i because they captured more photos than traditional cameras. However, the 150 and 150i have never managed a smooth transition between the cells of the panoramic photo. I get a lot of partial animals. The Covert panoramic (I have two) uses a fish eye lens so there is no fragmenting and the Covert has more pixels. I use solar panels for all the cameras. I have experienced reliability problems with the 150 and 150i which Moultrie claims is formatting, memory card that is too fast, or the wrong battery manufacturer. Maybe, but the Coverts do not have these problems. I can check on the cameras only every 2-4 weeks, so I loose a lot of photos when the camera fails. I have used the 180i for a couple of months and it has been superior to the other cameras. It takes twice the photos, the photos are clearer and, so far, I have not had any reliability problems. I rate the 180i as the best by far, then Covert followed by 150 and 150i. I gave the 180i four stars because is still has some issues with a smooth transition in panoramic photos. 4JunkWe have purchased 40 of these cameras this year, with the understanding that they would be able to stand up to normal weather, as stated in the warrantee. They do not, nor does Pradco/Moultrie stand behind them. The design is poor and materials appear to be failing as well. I would not recommend purchase of this product. After a spending a great deal of money and time dealing with Pradco/Moultrie I cannot recommend ever purchasing from them again or doing business with them. 1Exceptional camera. Great for security around buildings.Great camera, but takes a little practice to set up.Takes great clear panoramic pictures that can be zoomed in and you can get an identifiable picture of a person's face.I had to set the PIR sensitivity to low. When set to the default High, the first week it recorded over 5,000 pictures of birds landing around my pond.I tried a wireless SD card, (Toshiba 32GB FlashAir) but apparently the camera shuts off power to the card when waiting for a motion to trigger the camera. I could only connect to the card when it was taking a picture.I guess I can understand not keeping the SD wireless on constantly. This camera needs to be given a wireless ability. 5Great pictures and Excellent detection well beyond 50 feetAlmost gave it 4 stars because the selector switch for Aim, Custom and Quick start does not work well. I have it setup for custom settings and it is hard some times to get it in that location to start motion detection. If I keep having issues I will send it back. Also instruction are good but could be much better. Doesn't say anywhere on how to start detection under Custom settings. I guess they assume since they tell you how under Quick start that it is the same. The menu is a little tricky but once you understand it then it is a breeze. But the main reason I gave it a 5 is the quality of the pictures. They are excellent and I won't have any problem identifying what I need to identify. Additionally I have my setting where all three cameras take a picture when its sensor is triggered. I set it up to do my testing on a tree between my neighbor home and mine. Each outside camera was point at each driveway (20 ft each direction, I live in a cove) and the other straight ahead. They said that detection range is 50 ft but this camera is blowing that one away. Mail lady came into cove and circled the cove. The left camera facing my driveway and main road running through subdivision picked her up at over 90 feet, then center camera picked her up at 45 ft then again on far side of cove at over 100 feet. I thought this was a flute but I kept noticing my left camera picking up cars on main road and I swear on 5 or more occasions it took picture of cars at least 150 feet away and probably closer to 180 feet. I have not stepped it off yet but know it is over 50 yards, maybe over 60. I couldn't believe it. Now that it tested it is time for its intended use that that is to catch the crackheads that just broke into my fiance home for a second time in 2 1/2 months. Hoping the SOB's show again up because I will get pictures with this baby up in a tree secured with my master lock python lock. Then they will truly earn that name CRACK Head! 5very disappointingi been a Moultrie guy for several years. I just bought 3 more new ones. A 999i which was questionable at first but has checked out ok. Then i got 2ea 180i models and they both suck. I have them set at low sensitivity and all i get is pictures of weeds and corn stalks moving around. So guess what, I am officially done with Moultrie. My 5 yr old models are still doing great but I'm not spend my money on their stuff anymore. No No. Im going with something else now because this is ridiculous. My older cams don't do that crap so why would the new models. Like a dummy i apparently bought from a third party vendor. Not Prime. That was a mistake also and if I get stuck with these suckers I'll be done with Amazon as well. 1Disappointing...... 3 returns for defective cameras.I will start by saying I love the idea of these cams, the amount of deer you miss with single view cams is unreal. I had used the 150 panoramic for years and loved it so naturally when a better version came out I was loving it! The first one I bought worked great for about 3 months and the left sector flash failed. I spoke to pradco customer service and they are excellent. They sent me a new one out. This one lasted about 2 months and then the central flash failed. They quickly sent me out a new one! This one only lasted a very short month before the camera started stopping taking pics after a day or so. I tried reloadinging firmware with identical results. Also tried different batteries and SD cards but no change. I am now using the panoramic 120 and it has been working a lot better for me. 1Waterlogged and broken, 3 of 4, after two years in the fieldPurchased these September 2016. Recently went out to replace batteries and found three of my four cameras would not work due to water in the battery compartment and housing of the camera unit. Warranty expired last month, now I am out $1000 worth of investment. Needless to say I am not happy. These are the only trail cameras of any brand that has ever had this problem ( I own nine cameras from four brands). Other than this huge problem they took good pictures while they lasted. Edit: update 6/19/19: Two of the three replacement cameras were also defective. Moultrie refused to replace them so I had to initiate a chargeback through my credit card in order to retrieve my money. his is the last time I will ever do business of Moultrie, they do not stand by their products and buyer beware. 1
