Customer Reviews

So far so good. Purchased this model in white. Purchased to replace an Invacare handheld shower that never really measured up.This handheld is very easy to install (be sure to have a roll of teflon tape before the install), and appears to be durable. Water pressure is acceptable.Has minimal water jet options which I LIKE. Why? Because the fewer options there are, the fewer there are to break later. The stop/pause spray function is easy to use, and the thumb lever spray head adjustment dial is fine though we didn't desire it nor do we need it.The length of the hose was critical as we're using this to shower in a sitting position. Hose is great - extra long.Handle is comfortable. Packaging was fine. Shipping was fast.Don't buy a cheaper model. 4Pros Light weight Handle Lots of washers Easy install Cons Shower sprays are limited to 3 different ... I bought this for my 83 year old grandma.ProsLight weightHandleLots of washersEasy installConsShower sprays are limited to 3 different stylesThe biggest con is the pause button is difficult to press for an elderly person with weak hands. 3quickly lost its appeal We bought the DN8001 in 2011 on the strength of its long hose and off-button on the handset. We were unimpressed with the water flow from the start even after removing the flow restrictor in the piece that screws onto the shower pipe. It gives a very gentle rinse even on the massage setting. Not too useful for rinsing out shampoo unless your hair is baby-fine.In a month or so it began dribbling from around the off-button when one employed it. In addition when it was off at the handset water began leaking from the threaded ends of the hose fittings. A bit of Teflon pipe tape on the male threads stopped the leaking for a while but some months later you could actually see the hairline cracks in the plastic nuts. I had never used wrench or pliers on these - only my bare hands (that's bare hands, not bear hands).Like others here I have come to the conclusion that the off-button was actually a non-feature. Finding one with a long hose without special ordering from the manufacturer (I'm looking at you Water-Pik) will be a challenge. 2I have to sit down to take a shower and ... I have to sit down to take a shower and this works very well for me. It's simple to put together and simple to use. 5Moen DN8001 Hand Held Shower I like the hand grip and the light weight of the hand held shower. I do not like the fact that it does not shut off the water completely when in the pause mode. When paused there is still an appreciable amount of water emitted from the hand held shower, and the attached hose, which is described as "flexible" is way too stiff. The hose is better than many plastic covered hoses but still seems to have a mind of it's own and will tend to redirect the hand held shower handle all on it's own when the handle is placed in the mount. 3Moen DN8001 Hand Held Shower Head I've been a fan of hand held shower heads since I was stationed in Germany back in the 80's. The problem I've had with the (reasonably priced) hand helds available through major retailers in the US was that the hoses were always too short. They worked okay for taking a shower, but didn't have the reach if I wanted to spray down the walls and tub, or give the dog a bath. The 7' long hose on the Moen remedies this problem. It reaches completely across a full size bathtub. The water flow is adjustable from a full, steady stream to combination stream and center pulsating, to only center pulsating. The Pause Control button serves several good uses: while cleaning the tub or bathing the dog, it makes it possible to let go of the shower head without worrying about it spraying water all over the place; in a single size shower stall it lets you get completely lathered up before rinsing; and probably most importantly, every time you use it, you're conserving water, which helps the environment. I was satisfied with the price of this unit. The quality and construction seems to be good, but only time will tell. Overall, I am pleased with the Moen DN8001 and favorably recommend it to others. It only gets 4 stars because I haven't had it long enough to evaluate it's durability. 4Leaks From The Seams The shower head that I received was defective. I sent it back. Water not only came out of the intended holes in the head but also came out of all the seams down the sides of the entire hand set. I was looking forward to the pause feature on the showerhead thinking it would be convenient when bathing my dogs. Unfortunately it did not work out and I'm leary or ordering another one. Aesthetically the shower head is attractive except the hose is a bit strange. It is just a gray soft plastic hose that was rather stiff but it was nice and long and looked like it would last even though it was a little ugly. 2pitiful product ordered this moen product because i already owned a Moen hand held shower but it was time for a new one. this model had all the things i was looking for--especially the extra long hose. well it was very poor quality---the hand held shower head never stopped leaking where the hose connects--tried everything--extra washer--extra thread tape and finally the connection cracked while trying the tighten it so it would not leak---the hose is now useless. the water pressure was so low and the water spray pattern was just pitiful. had to pull out the old one and reinstall it til i can order a new one---BUT it won't be this model!! 1Nice enough My mother in Law is 87, and we recently bought her a Shower Seat. Well, that is fine, but it is kind of hard to use with a standard shower head. So I ordered her this one. Fine, it has a longer hose, and has 3 spray settings, plus pause. That is fine. However, hubby was putting it together, and it just snapped in his hand. The little connector on the end of the hose was so cheap, that is broke. He had no tools, just his fingers. I called Moen, and they are sending out a new piece, it should be here Friday. But for it to be that weak, I am a bit disturbed. The thing will be fine, but I am very nervous about a handicapped shower head being so fragile. After all, if she drops the head, is it going to break again? 3Shut-off Feature is Great, but that's about the only thing that makes this one better than others, I didn't install this so I don't know if a part was thrown out or what but the handle/strap doesn't connect to the shower head, it just dangles. I haven't had any leakage. I think the hose is too long and it gets in my way. I do like the shut-off feature. I sit while bathing and a care giver also assists. The shut-off feature really comes in handy to prevent my assistant from getting soaked. I really expected better from Moen. 3
