Customer Reviews

Good 1, 2, 1+2 diverter. No leaks. I purchased this Moen CL707BN diverter in brushed nickel to augment my existing overhead rain-head shower. I added a Moen hand-held unit also. The hand-held unit that I added makes it easy to wash down the shower to clean it, and my wife likes to switch from the rain head shower to the hand-held when she doesn't want to get her hair wet. (my review of my Moen rain head shower is also here on Amazon).I have this Moen diverter connected to a curved pipe that feeds my Moen rain-head shower (overhead) and my Moen hand-held (which sits in the slotted bracket portion of this diverter). This CL707BN is metal, heavy, and has a nice finish. It installed easily in place of my existing diverter. This Moen diverter has 3 modes: output #1, output #2, or output #1+2. I especially like that it doesn't leak from the output port which is off (my previous cheap diverter did). So if I have the turn-knob on output #1, then no water comes out of output #2. Ditto the other way. When both output #1 and #2 are on, for me the flow is reduced to each (I have well water, so the head flow is fixed). The turn-knob has a substantial feel to it with detents at each position. Unlike other diverters that have a push button or a slider, this turn-knob is easy to turn, clicks into place at each detent, and is firm and easy to turn. The turn-knob is held in place by a screw (under the silver colored pop-off cover). The hand-held holder on the other side is also held on with a screw. The hand-held holder holds my Moen hand-held (which I bought separately); and it appears to be standard size for most brands but I didn't confirm this.My only complaint is the size of the hole that the water flows through. The image shown (which appears to be a computer generated solid model) shows a single hole. The unit that I received has 4 small holes instead of one large hole; this limits the flow further (see my uploaded photo). Since the sealing mechanism covering the holes is a black spring loaded piece that presses against the holes, I assume that Moen made a design change along the way so that the holes sealed better (or to limit flow?). However, since I have well water and pressure is very limited, I needed increased flow. So I removed both screws, removed both end pieces, disassembled the unit completely, and drilled out the four holes (in two places) to make one single hole. For the first couple of days, the spring loaded piece leaked a little water to the output port that was not being used; but that leaking stopped so I assume that it was caused by a metal shard that I had been unable to remove.I'm quite happy with the unit; especially compared to previous diverter units that I've had. The only surprise was the four little holes instead of the one large hole on the pipe, but I dealt with that.Scott 5Solid brass with zero leaks Well worth spending the money on a quality diverter, especially since I already installed an entire Moen shower kit and I knew at least the chrome finish would be a match. This is solid brass, and not a plastic part to be found. It tightened up easily, with no leaks of any kind. I was originally worried that my 7" shower head might be too wide to reach around to get to the diverter switch, but no issues there (see my pics). The manual does recommend not using with any shower heads 8" or larger in diameter. I hope this helps!! 5Heavy weight, metal diverter, not like the cheap plastic ones We recently purchased a brushed nickel faucet set for our shower. It came with a single shower head, and we wanted to add a hand shower to it. We decided that we would just go with a shower arm diverter rather than putting stuff on the walls in a relatively small, 4'X3' shower. We checked out other diverters, but they were all very light weight and didn't seem to hold the hand shower in one place. Then saw this one and decided to give it a try, since it said it was all metal, so we thought it would be sturdier. When we received this it was clear that it was much heavier weight than any of the others we had seen. It feels like it weighs multiples of what the others do. The bracket for the hand shower stays exactly where we put it when we use it. Although this cost multiple times what we found other diverters for, it seems like it will last much longer and works better. 5My Frankenstein Shower head of My Dreams! We are switching our fixtures all from brushed nickel to Moen Eva in oil rubbed bronze. Unfortunately, I could not find a shower head by Moen in oil rubbed bronze that had both a fixed shower head and a handheld shower head that worked simultaneously. After doing some research I came across this part.I ordered the CL707ORB, the 8 inch rain head 6345ORB, eco performance handheld head 189315ORB, and Hammerhead Showers 72 inch hose. Once all the pieces arrived, I assembled and installed it all very easily. Now I have the shower head of my dreams!MY FRANKENSTEIN LIVES!!! :) 5Moen has great customer service and when they say that they guarantee ... Two things that make this product worth the higher cost over it's competition. It is made of metal AND it is a Moen product. Moen has great customer service and when they say that they guarantee their products for life they stand behind it. My experience with Moen has been when I needed to replace the washer (a cartrage) for my mother. The Moen was the original builder's grade to the house which was about 20 years old.Big box store did not carry it BUT the employee told me to contact Moen and they would send one to me. Sure enough after polite chat with CS, the part was in my mother's mailbox when the CS said that it would be. Badabing, badaboom, no more drips. 5given how easy returns are with Amazon I read the reviews stating that the item kept turning once installed, so I was hesitant to order an expensive diverter, however, given how easy returns are with Amazon, I went ahead since it seemed a more substantial addition than the plastic versions. With the gasket in place and using the appropriate Teflon tape, tightening with pliers secures it in place. I have a large shower head attached to it on an arm extension and it stays securely in place, even when adjusting the shower head position. My initial impressions are that it is well manufactured, attractive, and easy to change the diverter positions. Glad I spent the money. 5This is a solid piece of shower accessory. What I like the most is that it is a solid piece of construction that you would expect from Moen. When I first purchased my moen shower head, the local store did not have a matching Moen diverter. I ended up with another brand diverter which was leaking and flimsy since it was made of plastic. My main disappointment was that I waited too long to return it. Luckily I decided to purchase the Moen brand on Amazon. Since installing, I am a "happer camper". As they say, "you pay for waht you get". 5The design seems flawd Seems well made. However, the design seems flawed. The rubber washer set up that attaches the unit to the incoming supply pipe does not allow you to tighten the unit enough so that it can hold the weight of a hand shower in the notch. It constantly turns on its side. By the time I tightened it enough to hold, it split the rubber washer. 1Great quality, but doesn't work well. I bought this item because all the retail versions at Home Depot and Loews were low quality plastic diverters. This diverter is well built and actually made of metal. I was happy with the quality of the product. The problem, though, no matter how snug you tighten the diverter to the shower arm, the weight of the handheld shower head will spin this diverter around, so that the handheld shower head will ultimately fall out. This product should have a "locking" feature on it so that it cannot spin. 3sturdy and heavy piece of hardware and it looks good I agree with the other reviews here. It is a solid, sturdy and heavy piece of hardware and it looks good. HOWEVER, it leaks. It leaks at the point where the diverter is connected to the shower arm. If you look at the picture that amazon has, it's the part that is pointing downward that fastens to the outlet. Where it leaks is the point between the fastener and the diverter itself (where it spins). I've tried tightening it, adding an extra washer nothing works. I've replaced it and the replacement still gives me the same problem. I really wanted to love this product, but alas, I can't.***Update***Dropped it down to 1 star. I recently checked out the one installed at my sister's place. She had a remodel in her master bath and that's when I first noticed it and wanted one for my own bath. Well, during my recent visit, I checked out her diverter and also noticed it had the same problem I had. They had it professionally installed as part of their remodel and it is leaking at the same place!! 1
