    A lot more secure than the other locking system.Securing your PC to the VGA or Serial ports is a lot more secure to prevent someone from stilling your PC. Highly recomend this product over the other locking systems. 5While nice, does not fit ports that are recessed.While the product looks like a good product, if the port that you plan to use this lock on is recessed, then it is not likely to work with this product. I have several laptops that sit in docking stations, so the lock hole for most normal locks is not accessible while the laptop is in the dock. But the VGA port is on the side of the laptop so I thought that this product would be perfect. And while it came packaged nicely and looked sturdy, it was expecting the VGA port to look like ones on the back of a desktop -- protruding from the board. But on most laptops I found that the VGA port is recessed so this lock will not work. Too bad. I had high hopes. :-( 2not for todays computersthe port it says it connects to isn't on any of our computers or any of any family member or neighbors, I have asked . this should be stated that although it may be a good cable & type of lock, it isn't actually even on computers , laptops or any reader or even on our 3 printers manufactured now. I feel deceived & cheated. I have requested for a return. I am clearly not a satisfied consumer. This is I feel,,,, a scam. 1Laptop security cableThis is a much better security solution than the other cable offerings. This cable attaches securely to the DB-9 (serial) or DB-15 (monitor) ports. While nothing is totally secure, a thief would do significant damage to the laptop if they tried to remove the cable. 4Confiscated in Costa RicaBe sure you pack this in luggage that is checked because it is not allowed on carry-on baggage. I made it through just fine in US airports but in Costa Rica the check-in staff confiscated it. 3Secure +++A specific situation occurred at our office where we needed to provide a computer to an outside auditor as a "look only" device. Basically, they would come in our office, sit down at this computer and open Excel to look at a few spreadsheets we had preloaded. Management wanted a computer that could not leave, nor could the auditor easily take the spreadsheets with them.To protect our USB ports, we also purchased the Lindy Port Blocker from Amazon.This serial port lock was part of our solution. Once you screw it into the serial port (or VGA port), you lock it. Serial port is now unusable as long as the lock is in place. That is the first "+" in my title.To keep the computer from leaving our office, this lock is attached to a cable. Run it through, around, over, under whatever you can to secure it. In our case, we used the a-frame legs of the heavy desk, which meant it can't be slipped down and then off. That is the second "+" in my title.As a side benefit, the design of the lock means it protrudes on one side, allowing for the key to be inserted. This is a great thing for us, because that protrusion hung over the parallel port, effectively rendering it unusable, too. That is the third "+" in my title.This lock is made from quality components all around, comes with two keys, and we could not be happier with our purchase. 5Does Not Fit Recessed Ports (Most Newere Laptops)As mentioned in a previous review, this lock will not work with recessed ports. That means it won't work on any of the newer Dell 6400's. It will work on an older D620 or D630 where the port is in the back and not recessed. When it comes to Lenovo's, curiously it works on a T420, but not the T410. There is just a slight difference between the two ports.Other than that, it seems like a great design and it seems much more secure than a traditional lock. Two bolts, has a key. Nice and heavy.Would like to give it 3.5 stars, but I'll round up to 4 since that is not possible. 4
