Customer Reviews

An incredibly bright and well-made light for the cost. Great gift or emergency light. These small compact LED flashlights are surprisingly good for their cost. Great gifts at Christmas. The one I kept blew away the brightness on my larger, heavier Cree flashlight and proved water resistant. I submerged one while lit in my sink and it worked until I removed it an hour later. I did not test there near salty conditions nor submerge over 1 hour in deep water.Strong steel clip holds it in a pocket firmly enough so bending over doesn't dislodge it. Pushbutton switch is sealed and works every time in repeated use. Push-pull focus is smooth and a sharply defined wide or narrow beam produced. I would definitely recommend a set of these as gifts or to distribute in emergency kits, car, kitchen drawer, boats or camping kits. One AA lasted through a week of camping. YRMV.WARNING: Do not let kids play with these as they are INTENSELY bright and CAN temporarily alter vision if mis-used. 5Excellent little flashlight. These are great flashlights, I have yet to have a AA battery fail and I use them quite a lot. They are bright, even with just a AA (I have not invested in the bigger rechargeable batteries yet). I really like being able to focus the light and at its broadest the light is even, no more hot spot in the center, dark ring, light ring from traditional single bulb flashlights. All of them work, no duds in the pack of five. The feel is lightweight but strong, as is the clip. I typically wear one on a belt loop as the size is just right to do so without getting in ones way or even put it in your pocket where you'll hardly notice it is there. Other nice features are the three different levels of light, very bright, bright and flashing, the only very minor negative is having to cycle through the modes. The soft switch is easy to use and has enough texture to be non slip, it also allows for a semi press to cycle through the modes quickly without turning the light off. Would I buy again? Absolutely! May not need to fro some time but they would make great gifts. As a member of my local CERT team I'd highly recommend adding these to your kit.5Good light for $3 a piece, don't expect to compare to a StreamlightYou get what you pay for! Unlike other reviewers, I had no problems with these. I bought 10 total to give to the scouts in our troop for a prize after finishing with a training exercise. When they arrived, prior to the scouting trip, I opened all of the lights up, put batteries in (AA), and tested each one; all 10 worked just fine. The aluminum body is solidly constructed with great knurling for grip and anti-rolling. Zoom function works well and the bulb is extremely bright. They are a solid, very bright, reasonable cost, and seem to work great. Yes, they are a cheap Chinese knock off, but for $3 per light, can you really expect more than that?I hope you found this review to be helpful, please click below to indicate that you did. Thanks5Pack of 5 for under $20!! Absolutely a no brainer!!So, a 5 pack of these for under $20 is just absolutely unreal. I bought a single one to test out at around $6 and was even happy with that price point. These are "Ultrafire" lights, has the label stamped on the frame and yes they are a knockoff of other more expensive lights. The aluminum body is sturdy, the pocket clip is strong, and the lights are bright. I don't think they are 350 lumens as advertised and folks have pointed out that the Cree Q5 LED used in these probably won't put out that much but they are definitely in the 300 lumen range. Has a focus ring for spotlight (with that weird circuit pattern at full zoom) or floodlight and three settings, high, low and crazy rapid blink! The screw off front end and the back end where you put the battery both have o-rings and they seem water resistant (I wouldn't douse them though). I ended up getting the blue ones because they were a couple of bucks cheaper and quite honestly it's sort of nice with the higher visibility as they are very compact lights and can easily roll to the back of drawer. I have heard of a high failure rate on these but all 5 of mine worked right out of the box. The only con (not enough for deducting a star) is that they all came in individual little boxes and were just tapped all together in a brick. They triple wrapped some kind of clear packing tape all around it it top and bottom and it was annoying as heck to open them up. Other than that, I am happy as a pig in slop with these lights!I try to make my reviews engaging and useful. Please click the helpful button if you thought this review was worthwhile. Thanks!5DO NOT BUY ***FIRE RISK***I purchased the multi color 5 pack, supposed to get 5 different colors, got 2 blues and no red. That is forgivable.Batteries not included, for the price I would have thought batteries were included but good thing they weren t. I put a battery in the first blue, click the button and the light came on, click the button again and the light flashed off then stayed on, I thought it was multi brightness and after about 4 clicks it went off and stayed off. Put batteries in silver one and light came on while screwing on the top but then went off and would not come back on. Tried unscrewing it and what not, came on a few times when the cap was not screwed on all the way and now won t come on at all. Put batteries in the 2nd blue one and click it on and click it again expecting multi brightness but it clicked off, each click turned it on or off alternately. Picked up the first blue one since the 2nd blue actions are what I was expecting from this purchase and the flashlight was OFF and was so HOT I could not pick it up. I quickly unscrewed it and took out the extremely HOT battery which took nearly 10 minutes to cool off. Put battery in black and green ones and they work as expected.I purchased these thinking they would be good for storm season here in tornado alley, everyone would have their own color and I would know who to yell at for leaving it lying on the floor or whatever. I also figured little more expensive = little better quality so might last more than a single season before coming apart. I m going back to the dollar store to buy the cheap ones that DON T pose a fire risk and I ll just replace them every year.1Good Set of Flashlights for the MoneyWe purchased the (5 Pack) of the Mikafen Mini Cree Q5 Led Flashlights with 350 Lumens 3-mode light settings (High - Low - Strobe) with adjustable focus for use around the house. Also put them in each vehicle and our RV.PROS Great little lights for the money. Has o-ring seals for weather resistant construction. Smooth zoom function with uniform illumination pattern. Reasonably bright light when using a AA battery but had no way of confirming 350 lumens. Suspect they would be much brighter when using a 14500 battery. Did not have any 14500 batteries available so could not test to confirm this. Spring steel side clip is well built and does a good job of securing light in a pocket.CONS Do not plan to use this flashlight as a primary strobe light defensive tool; strobe needs to be a little brighter. On the bright side, pardon the pun, the strobe is a strobe not an S-O-S signal. Directly shinning light in attackers face might disorient them if they were close enough....maybe. Pressing the button cycles the light: off > high > off > low > off > strobe > off. However, once the light is on you can quickly cycle between the settings by slightly depressing the button and releasing the button when you get to the desired setting. Each time we turned the light off and then back on it would turn on in the next step of the cycle shown above....did not reset to always turn on in High mode. Some view this as a con, but not a showstopper for us. Just be aware of this. Button is bright orange and completely smooth with no texture. Again, some call this a con, but not a showstopper. Wish flashlights had a lanyard even with the side clip.Picture 1 - Five flashlights shipped in one boxPicture 2 - Each flashlight is packed in individual box in bubble wrapPicture 3 - Five colorsPicture 4 - Inserting AA BatteryPicture 5 - Mikafen on one sidePicture 6 - Cree on other sidePicture 7 - Light comparison. Light on the left is generic brand 9 LED non-focusing flashlight powered by 3 AAA batteries. Light on right is the Mikafen Mini Cree Q5 on high with focus set to wide. Both flashlights had fresh batteries and were placed around 24 inches from the wall.Hard to beat as a general purpose flashlight with two brightness levels, zoom focus, and a strobe for walking or bike riding. Just the right size to throw one in your pocket for everyday (night) use :-)This product was not provided as a sample for this review, so none of these comments are influenced in any way by the seller.UPDATE 9/10/2016 -- Deleted the original review that was posted on September 1, 2016 and re-posted the review today because the Amazon web site appeared to have a problem correctly posting the pictures. The pictures did not enlarge correctly when clicked on in the review. The system simply displayed a broken link symbol. We believe a picture is worth 1000 words and wanted them to work correctly :-)5Best Cheap Flashlights YetAs seen by a long time geek for LED flashlights. Pros: Cheap, can focus single-handed, bright, uses one single AA cell. Long batt. life compared to incandscent. Bought 20 of them and gave them to friends and family, none of whom will appreciate the features. Cons: The metal edges are sharp, they could have been tumble-smoothed before anodizing. One out of all only has bright mode. I kept that one since I'd rather just have that one mode anyway. On one of the others, the switch is dying. It probably won't make it through one battery before it totally flakes out. I'll probably bypass the circuitry and solder in a long cycle flasher circuit to use it as a beacon. These things are cheap, cheap to run, fairly indestructible, and bright. If one breaks or I lose it, I'll just get more. They are great for spreading all over - cars, motor home, boat, by the TV so I can mess with wiring behind the console, in the bathroom for chasing slivers, hunting bag so I don't fall in the swamp at o'dark thirty, fishing tackle boxes, tool boxes, kitchen junk drawers, pantry shelves. Best cheap LED flashlight I've seen yet since the LED flashlights started coming out 20 years ago. True, the LED Maglites are nice, but they take more batteries, are heavier, more expensive, they roll (like off the dash and overboard, into the water!), and it takes two hands to focus. UPDATE, March, 2019: I've been using them for a year now and I still love 'em. One switch on one tried to die but I cycled it about 50 times and it stopped misbehaving. A few have actually had their battery replaced. I'm using AA batts, not the fancy 18xxx batteries. Guess I shoulda said last time that the current LED technology requires more volts (3) than two cells, of any size, will put out. If you notice, most LED flashlights use 3 cells for 4.5 volts. Sooooo, if you flashlight uses 1 or 2 cells, there will be a voltage booster circuit in your flashlight to get the needed 4-5 volts to run the LED. Why do you care? Well, that little voktage booster is hungry and will drain your battery(ies) faster than a 3 cell light. I've got a herd of the cheap little flashlights that use 3 AAA cells and they do last about 1/2 to 2x longer than these single cells. I don't care, these guys are bright and the AA lasts about 4-8 hours depending on whether you cycle it on or off or just turn it on and run it down. As of now, they are still my fsvorite handheld light because I can focus them one-handed. The big ol' many-D cell Maglights are still better for walking down a dark alley, unarmed, though. Both the little guys and the Mag-L are bozo-proof since I"ve managed to run them over..... sigh..... such is life. Anyway, still happy after one year.5Good value for the moneyI purchased the Atak 80 Lumen LED Tactical Multi-Function Flashlight about a year ago and like it so much I wanted to get a few more. I found these Mini Cree LED flashlights and thought they looked about the same for significantly less money so I figured I'd take a chance and see how they are. Bottom line, good value for the money but not quite the quality of the Atak.Compared to the Atak, they are almost identical in size, the biggest difference is that the Atak has a more aggressive scallop on the bezel. The lens is also slightly different and smaller on this light. All other grooves are very similar with slight differences in size. Also, the light color is somewhat blue where the other LED lights shown in the attached photos are more white. The first photo shows a light beam that's a square grid. This is the tightest the beam can get and appears to be the exact shape of the LED.The next photo is the widest flood beam the light adjusts to -- not bad.The third photo shows three beams on the wall. Those beams are, from left to right, Surefire 6P Original Single Output Incandenscent non LED light, Mini MagLite LED and then this CREE LED light. The SureFire 6P isn't a fair comparison here as it is a traditional bulb but it had always been my main go-to light over the past 20 years and I know it's ~60 lumens with a good light pattern. Both the Mini MagLite and the CREE LED outshine it by A LOT.The fourth photo (light beams pointing left) shows, from top to bottom, the CREE LED light, Mini MagLite LED and SureFire 6P. You can see the relative brightness. The fifth photo is the same as the fourth but you can see the flashlight bodies a little better. In the sixth photo (light beams pointing down), I also included the Mini MagLite Solitaire in LED. It's the one all the way on the left. All the lights I photographed here outshine it but it's very close in brightness and light shape to the SureFire 6P.The seventh photo is the same as the sixth but you can see the flashlight bodies a little better.I also want to note that I used a single AA battery in the CREE LED light for testing, not the optional 3 point something voltage battery that is available. I assume that if you use a battery that is over double the voltage of a standard AA that you will get significantly brighter light output. As mentioned, I think this is a good light for the money and I will be placing several of them around my house so there will always be one close by should the need present itself.4Best low cost AA battery unit I've seen so far. At this price-point, these Mikafen lights are hard to beat. I've owned probably 75 LED flashlights, and 20 of them were this configuration- single AA battery with either 1 mode or this 3 mode model. I'll do a brief rundown of the features:Pros:While I don't think any of them approach 350 lumens, this is the brightest I've seen of the single AA battery type. The adjustable (sliding lens housing) feature gives a good range of beam sizes. The interior is more tightly sized for the AA battery- other brands tend to have way too much room in there.LED light is more of a daylight white than a cool white (which I like better- shows more accurate coloring of objects. The anodizing really looks outstanding on these colored units- richer look to them.Using a 14500 battery only seems to boost by maybe 50%- if you want substantially more lumens, spend more on something like a Klarus.Cons:No texture to power button- it would also be nice to have it extend further out because it's sometimes difficult to get your finger at the right angle to turn it on. Also be nice to see them use a glow-in-the-dark button like some others do.As I mentioned, these are hard to beat at $15 for the group, so if you want more output and better quality, be prepared to spend at least $35 to find something better (you can find a genuine 800-1200L for $35-$99). 5fantastic every day carry lightI bought this 5 pack as gifts for friends and was lucky to have one leftover and kept it for myself.I must have mis-read the description, as I thought the lights would be all different colors...as seen in the pics of the box...but I'll take the matte black color. It's a sharp looking light that functions nicely. You can adjust the beam of light and it has a few settings that you can change. It's much more than a regular flashlight.I'm happy that it has a belt clip because it makes it possible to carry this light when I need to very easily. It's convenient to add this flashlight to my EDC options. I'm looking forward to carry it when I'm outside working.Check out the pics and a comparison of a similar light. If you found my review useful, please consider selecting the "helpful" button. Thanks.5Good little torches This little torches work on a double A battery. Bright white light that can be zoomed in and out. Good price, 5Great for the priceThese are a cheap copy of similar flaslights made by Fandyfire and Ultrafire. I tested all of the lights since I am giving them as gifts. I used Ultrafire lithium, 14500, 2000mah batteries that were fully charged. I had some inititial problems with the silver flashlight because it wouldn't work with a lithium battery. After switching it with an alkaline AA battery it seemed to work marginally. I tried the lithium battery again and it worked OK. The fit and finish on these is not as good as the more well known brands. The zooming lens is fit loosely, and the flashlight is physically smaller than the more premium brands. The size is good for carrying in a pants pocket. For the price they are excellent3Good to have on handThese are typical of many other brands and sources that look exactly the same. It is good to have a bunch since they tend to wander off. Since they take a single common AA battery, they are easy to keep running, For years I had a supply of lightly used AAs from a portable CD player. When the batteries could no longer spin the disc, the batteries still could lite up the flashlight. If you have not gone for an LED flashlight yet, these are a great gateway. A $4 each you can delight your children and friends.I now have quite a few LED flashlights of all sizes and kinds. But this type is the most useful -- pocket sized, and more powerful than an old-style D-cell PR2 flashlight. The zoom feature is more useful than you can imagine. It is great as a pocket spotlight, but also great to penetrate behind furniture, under beds and into a car's engine compartment. At wide angle, it lights up a big circle with no hot spots, so its good for walking in rough terrain. My one knock on this version is the three modes. These days I carry a single mode type, after much embarrassment from the strobe feature. Some day I might regret not having it, but the tri-mode version is more amusing than useful.By the way, one color is silver -- not dark gray like some of the pictures. All the colors are rich and true, and the fit and finish is excellent. Some reviewers have said these are a copy of other brand names, but I think the shells are all the same -- the guts may change, the spot feature may be crisper on others, but all I have ordered through Amazon have been good to excellent. Just watch out for some that ship direct from China -- it can take weeks -- but all of those were fine also.5Great little flashlights at a reasonable price These little flashlights are even better than I expected! They have three light modes- bright, medium and strobe. And they zoom to pinpoint. They fit in a pocket and have a clip to fit onto a belt or waistband. They take one AA battery and the price is right. With five different colors I can give one to each of the kids- and my husband- and if I find one laying around I know who has misplaced theirs! And the price is right-if one gets lost it's not a big deal. We use these at the camp and they are good for finding things in the back of cupboards and finding our way around dark campsites and paths.I have already bought a second set so I can have them in every room at camp and some at home. They came in very handy when we lost power during a storm last week.I recommend them for one who needs a small, easy to carry, flashlight for ordinary situations. 5The light distribution and zoom pattern are excellent. It does not zoom out to quite as ... At less than $3.50 a piece, these are a steal. I have a very similar (almost identical looking) led that I've used for a few years now. I purchased it mainly for the strobe to make myself more visible while cycling. These lights look very similar to my (several times more expensive) older light. Upon first inspection, they do not feel to be of equal quality. The zoom does not move as smoothly and the finish is just slightly less refined. The tail cap switch also does not have as robust of a feel. So far, not a raving review. Comparing the light output however, these are substantially brighter than my older light. The light distribution and zoom pattern are excellent. It does not zoom out to quite as wide of a beam as my older light, but this is not an issue at all. While the initial perception was not 5 stars, they all work flawlessly. They are very bright for using only one AA battery. The strobe was a must have since their main purpose is for cycling and many of the similar lights out there have an SOS flash instead of the fast strobe, which would not suit my needs. I also like the fact that they always start on bright setting, then toggle through dim and strobe. No matter what setting you turned them off at, they always start on the brightest light. At this price, I've put them all over the house so there's always one handy. I haven't used them on my bike yet, so I can not attest to how well they will hold up to vibration or rain. Only time will tell, but so far, they are an incredible value. Buy them. 5
