Customer Reviews

Watch out, they can melt... I bought these to replace an older pair of mechanix work gloves. I initially liked the light weight feel of the back until I almost melted one onto my fingers. Using my heat gun for some heat shrink tubing, a couple of the fingers started to melt into my fingers and I now have a hole in the gloves. I was not expecting this as I never had this issue with the old (different style) mechanix gloves. 3Bad product. Mechanix replaced or redesigned most of their line. This particular glove, the Utility version isn't as good as the older model I had been using for 5 years. The older version was priced right, $11.00 bucks or so at retail. I believe the new version sells for about the same price but it is too constricting. The older style actually 'fit like a glove', the new ones are too tight, the older model was more flexible and was a lot cooler to wear for extended periods. Now you can not find the older version. The new velcro is crap too. Hardly sticks to the other half, has less 'hooks' and the fuzzy stuff is junk.I use these gloves to drive a big rig, they were great for that purpose. Too bad they redesigned them and ruined a good thing. They might work fine for you if you are a mechanic or need a light glove in your shop. They are using really cheap Velcro on the top side...wont last too long if you put them on and take them off a lot. You can usually find these at the big auto parts stores, Pep Boys, O'Reilly's, etc. Check them out before you order a pair. 2Great pair of gloves. These gloves are great. They offer moderate protection from both friction and pinching injuries, keep my hands moderately protected from the cold, and most importantly for me offer great dexterity and fit. I work in a position that requires I take the gloves off and then put them back on swiftly. the red wrist tab prevents the typical wear from pulling gloves back on. For medium protection but high dexterity gloves, I would definitely purchase them again. Keep in mind that I'm writing this review months after my purchase. I have put them through their paces. 5Don't Waste Your Time & Money This is not a great deal. The price I paid was slightly above average and the quality of this glove is the lightest duty I've ever seen from the Mechanix brand. I'm sure I'll never use them but it's not worth bothering with a return. It's basically a low level Harbor Freight quality glove. At Harbor Freight I could have paid half the price for gloves twice as good as this set. If you want a durable and useful glove for wrenching and anything from Entry-Level to Advanced tool handling, look for a different glove. I recommend buying them at a brick & mortar store. It's important with gloves that you've been able to try them on. 2don't be fooled by the BRAND NAME got these as a utility glove for work (i am a route delivery guy) to protect my hands. First pair the stitching on the palm of one blew out, the 2nd the tip of the index finger gave out. I have always associated MECHANIX WEAR with quality & durability, NEVER AGAIN. Perhaps the more heather gloves perform better, i will never know 1Gloves you'll actually WANT to wear... I just ordered a replacement pair of these because I like them so much. That may sound like a bad thing, but you must first understand I've had the first pair for many years and I used them for a TON of different things, some of which were probably a bit more than "light duty". These are by far the best gloves I've ever had. These are not gardening gloves, nor are they heavy machinery gloves, so they would probably fall apart pretty quickly under such conditions. But they're the perfect "do everything else" gloves to protect your hands during such activities as electrical work, working with power tools, carpentry, plumbing, etc. Their tight fit and maximum dexterity make them quite cozy to wear, thus I find myself reaching for them when I should, as opposed to dreading putting them on. I love using them when doing electrical work such as replacing receptacles or switches. Just in case the power isn't off for some reason, they're another line of defense. The other day I was swapping out a bad receptacle and was trying to figure out why I was feeling a slight itch in my left hand. Turns out the power was on and my finger (with the gloves on) was laying across both contacts! That most definitely would have felt a lot worse without the gloves on. Bottom line: you will not regret buying these gloves. Just make sure you find the right size by trying them on in a store first. 5Garage owner must This is a well fitting glove designer for grip and comfort at the expense of durability. Reviews from older versions of these gloves claim they used to last longer. I cannot attest to that but I am seeing considerable wear and tear after two months of on and off use for projects around the house. This is fine for me and I am sure it would be for a lot of nonprofessional folks. 4Really Great Gloves I use these gloves for everything from driving gloves, to work gloves, to shooting gloves, to shoveling snow. They are not insulated, so they dont keep you hands terribly warm, but they are great for keeping them dry, clean, and just a little warm on a cool morning. They fit very well. It's interesting, they are not terribly expensive, but there are cheaper gloves such as what you can get from Harbor Freight. Well trust me, just get these instead, if for no other reason get them for the fit. If you need two reasons, then the second reason is the materials. They feel so nice. A little stiff when you first get them, but just wear them for a few hours doing whatever you would reguarly do with gloves on, and you will soon forget they are there. The leather palms and fingers provide a good grip and they also allow you to still use a smartphone. Of course you dont have the dexterity that you would have without them, which is especially noticable when trying to type those tiny letters on the screen, but they have enough to answer a call, key in your lock screen code, and other simple tasks. If you are looking, just buy them. You will be glad that you did. 5Life Is Too Short To Wear Garbage Gloves I bought these as a replacement for another pair of Mechanix gloves that finally gave up the ghost after 6 years of light duty. I live on 6 acres so I have plenty of 'honey-do' tasks to knock out and I had been satisfied with my first pair of Mechanix so I thought I would give these a try. I like how they fit and for most of the tasks I do, which are DIY/homeowner types (not heavy-duty professional tasks) these are perfect. From pulling weeds to splitting wood to stacking hay, I've always been satisfied.I can't speak to their durability just yet since I have only had them for a few months, but if I can get even half as much time from them as I did my last pair, I'll be pretty happy with that. They might not be beefy enough for really heavy duty tasks, but for anything I would put under the 'utility' category I think they deliver. 5He loves them These were a stocking stuffer for the wonderful man in my life that plays mechanic for me. He absolutely loves the fit (usually wears medium gloves and the medium of these were perfect) says his knuckles aren t busted, and he isn t losing grip on his tools until he chooses to throw them. He s happy, he looks forward to his projects because he can wear these, so I m happy. 5
