    Good lock, but more difficult than old style Purchased two of these locks for our ranch gates. They are difficult to use, cylinders are tight, dont turn easily and only turn in one direction. So, if you pass up a number in your code, you have to turn all the way around again. And, you cant lock it unless it is in the code you selected. So, ifyou open the lock at a gate, and you want to turn the tumbler to hide your code, you cant lock it until you turn it back to your code again, lock it, then change the code. It is a pain, but will adjust as we use them more. 3DO NOT BUY, ITS A SCAM. LOCKS WONT WORK AFTER A WEEK This lock was inoperable after only a week. Used as a gate lock and it won t close even when it s dialed in on the combo. I never expected such poor quality from an amazon seller. I would have had better luck on eBay. I m glad we can at least read reviews to try and avoid these bad purchases. I ve had dollar store locks work better than this. DONT BUY THIS LOCK FOR ANY REASON! Won t even keep a simple gym locker secure. 1Not For Gates!!! Not good as a gate lock. To reflect other feedback I've seen here already, you cannot scramble the dials when the lock is open. I intended to use this as a lock on a driveway gate. When the gate is open I've always hung the lock on one side of the open gate, being sure to scramble the lock code after I open it. When it's time to close the gate for the night just slap the lock back on and close it. When you open this lock, you must leave the combination dialed in or the lock will not close. Not good for security. I have to close and lock this one onto the gate. Later when it's time to close the gate I have to dial in and open the lock, attach and re-lock. I have similar Master Locks where this is not necessary. I'm sure this lock is fine for other uses, it's just not for me.Also, one more annoyance. The dial will not roll backwards from 0 to 9. So if you're sitting on 0 and 8 happens to be a number you need, you have to roll all the way around to get to it. Again, I have other similar locks from Master whose dials DO NOT do this. Doesn't seem like their best design or top effort. 2Best value, heavy duty combo lock. Check Masterlock Dot Com for dimensions. I use two of these locks to secure five bikes and a bike rack to my hitch. The diameter of this lock matches the diameter of the chain, to defeat the majority of bolt cutters.For those who complain about the dimensions, make sure you check Masterlock Dot Com, look up the model number, and click on the specification button for dimensions.Pros* Dials easy to turn* Combination easy to reset, just be careful the numbers are where you want them.* No reset tool necessary* High security shackle* InexpensiveCons* Rubber protector thing is flimsy, I expect it to come off soon.* May not fit some applications, check the website and measure carefully. 5Started falling apart almost immediately. I bought this to lock the gate for our parking lot. Within a few weeks it became difficult to latch. I have to prop it against the post and hit it with my palm to get it to latch. Also the rubber cover for the numbers broke off almost immediately and the numbers are difficult to spin. Not the kind of quality i expected our of Master Lock 2They get the job done but not without a little hassle first I have about a dozen of these at my outdoor workplace here in the Midwest. They get the job done fairly inexpensively. I had one completely seize up that you can't get the hasp into the combination change position. 2 have had the weatherstripping fail at the shackle so they're almost impossible to close. In winter weather, almost all of them get moisture in them and freeze and you can't turn the combination dial unless you thaw them out with a cig lighter first. My biggest complaint however is you can't scramble the combinatino while it's unlocked so that somebody can snap it shut later without knowing the combination. So if you need to leave something unlocked, the combination is readily visible 3Gets stuck. Maybe just mine. Returned. I had to apply incredable force to close this lock. So much so it hurt my hand to do so. I made sure there was no obstruction. I tried resetting to combination. None of that worked. This my just be for the one that I received, but thats what this review is about.I returned mine with no hassle. 1Get the one with they key to reset I purchased two of these locks for both of my sheds. I was excited that I could set my own combination so I didn't have to worry about going inside to get a shed key if I needed something while I was working in the yard. Plus I can set the combinations to be the same so it's less to remember. Unfortunately these locks aren't as great as I hoped they would be.I've had these locks for about a year and they've held up well to weather, although the rubber flap on the bottom falls off pretty easily and can be quite annoying.The largest downfall of this lock,however, is as I discovered today when in a hurry to lock the lock I thought I had closed it and spun the combination dials only to realize it wasn't closed the whole way. I closed it and spun the dials again. What I hadn't realized until I went to unlock it again was that this reset the combination and I had no idea what it set the combination to.There's supposed to be a specific movement in order to reset the combination and I in no way made that specific movement when I tried to close the lock. So it ended up meeting a hacksaw and a hammer and I ordered a different kind of lock with a key to reset the combination.So unfortunately I can't recommend this lock, as I see many other reviewers have had other problems as well. 1Terrible product! I purchased 8 locks to secure 4 ... Terrible product! I purchased 8 locks to secure 4 shipping crates. Upon arrival at the destination, all 8 locks worked fine. The crates were unpacked, then repacked to be sent back. Prior to repacking, all 8 locks were tested to ensure that the combinations were still set correctly. After verifying, the shipping creates were sent back. Now, 3 of the 8 will not unlock using the combination I personally set, and ensured was still accurate. Contacted the seller about it, who told me they couldn't help and to contact the manufacturer. Poor product and terrible customer service from the seller. If you're considering this seller or this product, DON'T DO IT!!! You'll end up having to cut these off sooner than later. If you already have one of these and it's jammed up on you, my Dremel Ultra Saw cut through these like they were butter, so much so that I'm pretty sure 3 minutes with a hacksaw would render these worthless. LOOK ELSEWHERE IF YOU WANT A GOOD, RELIABLE LOCK. 1Just what I wanted EXCEPT the STRONG shank is larger than normal and wouldn't fit in hole. This is a strong, heavy, well made lock for outside use.I bought it for my boat, I wanted a combination lock instead of a lock with a key to drop in the water. I wanted a coated lock to prevent scratching. I wanted water proof and something that would not rust.This lock is almost Perfect!!Except the heavy duty shank was too large of diameter for the standard padlock hole in my boats hasps....My bad, I should have measure the hole.Back to the drawing board.... 5
