Customer Reviews

You cant go wrong with a Maglite. I have a couple of Maglites that are over twenty years old and still working. The old ones are not near as bright as I might like due to dirty and scratched lenses but they throw a good incandescent beam. This little light, however, is impressive for the beam that it blasts on only two AAA batteries. Unless, you specifically need the soft light of an incandescent bulb, this is the way to go. It will light up an average-sized bedroom. It throws more light than my 4 C-cell incandescent Maglight. 5An excellent portable, bright and reliable flashlight! I have finally found a reliable flashlight! I bought three of these. What I wanted:1. Reliable Flashlight: Good for over a year in a drawer and good for several hours per battery pack.2. Portable for closeup work with high white light levels but capable of lighting up a large area outdoors. What I found:When I used the "pre-charged" Eneloop Brand of NickelMetalHydride AAA batteries in the Maglite MiniMag, I got about 3 hours of usable light. Light levels were very bright and illumination across the spot was adjustable for close-up work. Light levels outdoors were very good ... especially as compared to the old D-Cell Incandescent-bulb Flashlights. My analysis details:1. With the fresh supplied Duracell AAA's: I measured about 1.6W battery consumption at a per battery load voltage of about 1.45V. The battery pack would last for 1 hour or so and the power output dropped about 60% (implying a comparable loss in light output). For closeup work, such as inspections, an ideal light source should be "white" and provide a luminous power incident to the surface of 1000 LUX or more, the rated output of 87 Lumens should provide about 1000 LUX when the penlight is illuminating a 7inch diameter circle.2. With Charged Eneloop AAA's: I measured about 0.7W battery consumption at a per battery load voltage of about 1.3V. The pack life would be about 3 hours with a power output drop of about 30%. The reduced brightness and "whiteness" with the Rechargeables was still adequate.Bottom Line: When paired with the 'long-storage life' Eneloop batteries, I expect that the flashlight will be a reliable light source even when stored for months. (Based upon several years of experience with these batteries, I don't expect to have an battery leakage disasters as well). Since this light has a limited lifetime warranty, if you avoid the leakage-prone alkaline batteries, one should expect long service life. In addition, the Eneloop batteries can be recharged hundreds of times. 5Bright! Mini Mag Light, well I left my old one that was going strong after 25 years at Phantom Ranch at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. So needless to say I had to replace it, and decided to go with the LED model. I would say overall that it is brighter than the original, but haven't used it for a longer enough time period to have an idea how long the batteries last.My only, if you could call it a complaint, would be that my original light came with an orange lens kit for night vision. This kit is available with the AA mag light, but I couldn't find one for the mini mag light. Fortunately I still had an extra from 25 yrs ago, which fit and works great in the LED model. 5Solid Mini Mag Lite For Med Kit I have been using maglites for years of various sizes and even though they might cost a little bit more the quality is well worth it. This particualr min mag was purchased to go into my med kit and is the perfect size for it intended purpose. Fast shipping and great value for the price as I am sure it will last for years just like the numerous other maglites in the house. 4Great light, great gift, 100% reliable! This mag light is amazing. I had one before and I gave it to my father in law because they were still using and old bulb style mag light. I had to buy another because I missed it. Batteries last forever and it puts out enough light that you can do night hikes and work around the campsite with nothing else. It is truly an impressive light for its size. I have the 1000 lumen lights purchased off eBay and they are brighter but they also require more expensive batteries and chargers and they need replaced after a couple hours. This can use regular old AAA batteries and even the dollar store ones last for days. It can go in the glove box for months and come out with full power every time. Led doesn't get dim like the old ones. It's full power every time until the batteries are dead. You will get warning because if you turn it off and on a lot it will have a delay letting you know they're low. 5Great Value for the Money I bought the MagLite Mini LED Flashlight to put in a homemade roadside assistance kit. This MagLite Mini LED Flashlight might be small, and believe me it is small, but it is as bright as the biggest MagLite. Along with being kept in a vehicle for emergencies, this flashlight would be excellent for people who work on computers, handymen or women, or any repairmen or women. It is small enough to fit in pants or shirt pockets and not be highly noticeable. Heck, I carried it to my car four different times in my jeans pockets and forgot I had it on me to put in the kit until I just took it in my hand the fifth time. 5Bright and sturdy, but the on/off mechanism is a little loose. It's a nice, lightweight flashlight. It can easily fit in a pocket, and provides more than enough light for most circumstances. From MagLite, I'm sure it'll hold up for ages. It can easily be turned on with one hand, too. However, the ease of turning it on is also a bit of a downside. Rotating the lens portion of the flashlight turns it on and allows for focusing the beam just a bit. Unfortunately, after the first maybe 1/8 turn, the turning portion gets quite loose and is far too easy to turn. I wish it would offer more resistance throughout the entire range. 4Man these are bright! But get some lithium batteries for it. There is a lot of light from a little flashlight. I did not use the include batteries, I saved those for other purposes and instead used lithium batteries, which are more expensive but will last in my glove box and won't leak. The combination is great. The only problem I have ever had with MagLites is alkaline batteries that leak (not MagLite's fault). With good lithium batteries these should last a long time between emergency use and are amazingly bright when needed. 5Best Rugged, High Quality and Dependable LED Flashlight Over the years Maglite products have become iconic for being the very most dependable, yet affordable American manufactured Flashlights on the market. I am so happy they still offer that same, consistent and affordable quality while implementing modern, bright and efficient LED technology. Plus, unlike all comparable products, they are still manufactured right here in the USA! 5I cannot have too many of these I love these mini maglites! I did purchase one in incandescent and it is amazing what we used to think was decent light and the LEDs just blow me away. It is amazing how much power these little LEDs have! I feel the are almost a little too blinding for late at night, close stuff (like reading), but Watts per LB this is a perfect flashlight that you can put in a pocket or almost any bag and have more than enough light to walk around or work in the darkPlus... I hold these in my mouth all the time (gross, I know, but until we evolve a 3rd arm, I'll take what I can get) and don't find them to be too tiring or heavy and can even "point" as needed, but some of the thicker "small" lights cannot do this.I will buy these over and over again, I cannot have too many of these wonderful flashlights. 5
