Customer Reviews

Easy to install, work smoothly and last forever. Recommend without reservation. Neeeded to replace one that was finally becoming a little erratic AFTER 20 YEARS. Since it was one of of 2 on the same wall plate I wanted an exact match if possible. Checked Amazon and sure enough it is still in production and at a very reasonable price. We have about a great many of them in our home and only the one has ever had an issue. They install easily and operate smoothly and troublefree. Excellent product. 5Very Easy Install and Works Great! Very easy to install. I took off the wall plate, unscrewed the switch from the wall. I only had 3 wires. 2 black and 1 copper ground. I unscrewed the wires, and used the provided yellow caps to connect the wires together ( the Lutron wires come already connected to the unit so you have to use the screw caps to connect the wires from the wall). It didn't matter for me which black wires I connected, so i just used the "bottom" one to connect to the left Lutron wire, and my old "top" wire to connect to the Lutron right wire( right meaning if I am facing the back of the unit from the wall). It was a little tough shoving the wires back into the wall, but I got it done. I'd say the whole thing took me 10-15 minutes. I am medium handy. This is actually the second one I've done. The other I installed was a 3 pole switch was a bit more involved. I've also installed 2 solar timers which the 1st took about an hour, because I had to continuously run up an down the stairs to turn the power off , test, etc.In any event, don't be afraid. Just shut the power off and make sure you only need a single pole switch, meaning there is only 1 location to turn the light on, as opposed to a 3 way pol, meaning there are 2 different switches that control the light. If you need that, it's slightly more involved, but Lutron sells that as well. Enjoy! 5Reliable, easy to install slide dimmer... I have used these Lutron Skylark dimmers for well over 15 years, and they work great...As an electrician I have installed many of these dimmers in homeowners houses. I also have them throughout my home too. They install easily and do not require a neutral conductor. Simply remove the switch and simply replace with this dimmer. You may need to replace the cover plate too, it uses a "Decora" style plate. They are very durable and attractive. They dim smoothly and the rocker switch allows me to turn on and off the light at the preset. I rarely have bulbs that "sing", due to this dimmer. When I do, I find that changing the brightness a little fixes it. Or, if it's real bad, I change the bulb to a different brand. The "singing" sound is made by the filament vibrating within the bulb, caused by the very fast switching action of the dimmer. FYI; dimmers dim by switching the load on and off very quickly, not by adding resistence. This dimmer is rated for up to 600watts; but, if you remove the tabs on the face of the dimmer, the wattage rating is reduced. These tabs dissipate heat and removing them creates more heat within the dimmer. This is typical of all dimmers. They are not fancy or anything like that, but they look great and work very well and hold up over time...Overall, I am happy with my purchase... 5Superb dimmer that works for CREE LED lights that is affordible I looked up and down to find a compatible dimmer for my CREE LED light bulbs. I read some bad stories that worried me. It seemed like finding a compatible dimmer for a LED bulb is not trivial. I finally was able to get a hold of a CREE certified dimmer list, and this one (Lutron Skylark S600P) was one of them, with the lowest price tag. After ordering it and testing it, I am convinced that I made a good selection. Can't be happier. 5Lasted two months! Now a hazard! Nice!Updated 12.18.17What was first a decent product has turned into a fire and seizure hazard. We use the lights it controls as a nightlight, but after extended use the lights begin to flicker, mostly at the highest setting but sometimes at lower levels. Just yesterday it has begun to arc and hiss loudly at the highest level after extended use. I only paid 8 bucks for this thing as warehouse deal so not worth chasing the warranty - but wanted to warn others. Will try and upload video next time it does it - scary! 1Is the seller giving you what is advertised. I thought I already reviewed this product. I purchased a new switch only to receive a repackaged used switch. The drywall marks, obvious scuff marks on plastic casing and screw indentations on the brackets that mate to the box were a few clues. Just to be fair I installed it and it does work. The only minor issue is the dimmer slide switch is not very smooth when you slide it up or down. 3Didn't dim LED strip lights with magnetic driver I wouldn't dim my LED strip lights. I used it in a setup with a magnetic transformer and LED strip lights. I did some trouble shooting and ended up purchasing the Lutron DVLV-600P and it solved my dimming problem. I called the magnetic driver customer service and was told the S-600P should function with their driver and they concluded that I probably had a bad dimmer. They were right. I'm going to install it on a normal 110 circuit to see if it will dim before sending back. 2A good dimmer, if a little counterintuitive There's nothing wrong with this dimmer. It dims the lights, the action on the switch is nice. It doesn't feel cheap. If you know how to do basic wiring then it's easy to install.I have two minor qualms:#1 - The first light bulbs I used made irritating buzzing/squealing noises, especially at low levels. From what I've read, this is a common problem with most (if-not-all) dimmers, so I can't really hold that against this one. I solved this by using Phillips Eco-Vantage bulbs which, I guess, have a sturdier filament. If you want to use "decorative" globe-type bulbs, or cheap incandescents, the whining may be a problem.#2 - The overall design is a little counterintuitive to me, and that's why I'm giving it four stars. When I enter the room, my impulse is to flip the big switch up, but with this dimmer, the on/off switch is the little one at the bottom. It's a little harder to find by touch. The big switch is the dimmer control, but it won't actually turn the lights on and off. If you move the big switch all the way to the bottom, the lights will still be on, just at their lowest level. I would like this dimmer better if turning the big switch all the way down also turned the lights completely off, then I could use the big switch as the main control, and only use the little one occasionally when I wanted to maintain a particular brightness level. This is admittedly a minor gripe. 4Product as described, works great with twin LED fixtures. I installed this in an existing four gang interior box, it replaced an existing SPST switch. It is used to operate a couple of new 16 watt dimable LED ceiling fixtures I had installed replacing two existing, incandescent fixtures.I was a little bit leery as the item description doesn't specifically indicate the switch for LED lights, but the comments section showed that several other people had used this switch for the same purpose. It operates my two lights very well, full-off to full-on, and everything in between. The light almond color matches the other 3 switches in the box perfectly.I am very happy with this switch, providing it continues to operate this well. 5Lutron makes a quality product I bought this to match two other existing products in a gang box. The product is good quality (like all Lutron stuff).Personally, I like other styles, like touch dimmers. I find the switch on this model difficult to locate and operate. I also prefer other colors. 4
